This Stonefield model Plush (no P/T) replaced a Beautyrest Drucilla Grove P/T......just outside the premium Exceptionale/Latitudes line......that I reviewed earlier.

It's rather clear to me (at least thus far) that S&F delivers a superior product. Outstanding support, and apparent excellent build quality thus far. I'm experiencing absolutely NO back pain, and my wife's hip is doing just fine. We both sleep pretty much blissfully.

We're still noticing that the smell of the new materials has yet to subside after better than a month. Is it possible the fact that we completely disregarded the suggestion to allow the set to "air out" for a day or so after taking delivery has anything to do with this ?? :-)

On balance, it's probably a little softer than I'd ideally prefer. Walkman previously described the padding of the S-Plush.....to be honest, probably pretty accurately.....as MUSHY. As an owner, I'd prefer to call it "spongy" :-) But, like all mattresses, soft/mush/sponge are descriptions probably better left to the minds (and backs) of a given user.

I'm noticing impressions already. However, I've now learned enough about REALLY padded mattresses to understand that.....speaking in general terms.....the more padding you have (especially if it isn't latex), the more pronounced the impressions seem to become, and at an earlier date. Happily, I'm no longer as obsessed with this "problem" as I was with the Simmons. In other words, I'm learning........and, it isn't bothering me.

Everything being equal, the somewhat firmer K-class equivalent of the S&F line might have proven to be a slightly better choice for me personally.....especially at a $350 savings. But, that's not the fault of the S-class product.

On balance, we're happy with our purchase, and would quickly recommend this product to anyone looking for a soft, premium plush.

Mcroskey Airflex Cal. King

McRoskey Airflex

Just wanted to let people know our positive experience buying our Mcroskey Airflex mattress.

Both my wife and I have had continuing back problems. I have had intermittent lower back pain and my wife has had neck and shoulder pain pretty consistently over the last few years.

After looking at the Mcroskey store several times we finally decided to make the plunge and purchased a King-Size gentle-firm mattress. We also splurged and purchased a feather bed for the top.

We found both sales people we dealt with professional and markedly different from the sales people we dealt with at any other mattress store we visited.

Though the mattress itself is quite plain looking the fit and finish is extremely well done. I'm used to the standard cheap box-spring and the Mcroskey box-spring is clearly multiple levels above standard box-springs in quality, feel and manufacture.

You have the option of either individual legs (eight per box-spring, or 16 for the whole mattress), or wood slats. Wood slats though are not recommended for the King-Size mattress.

We ordered our mattress near Christmas and after hearing about my wife's back problems Mcroskey really tried to get fast turn-around for us and I was pleasantly suprised how fast it was delivered.

I was unhappy of two things during the delivery. It was raining delivery day and the delivery people got a bit of a wet-stain on the edge of the mattress. As well, the feet on the two box-springs were clearly not lined up with each other. I'm not normally a stickler for these sorts of things but for this amount of money I felt I could expect better.

After contacting Mcroskey they quickly sent a representative out who personally dried and cleaned the stain. As well, rather than just unscrewing and moving the foot posts used by the box-spring feet he insisted on having a new set of box-spring built and delivered! As well Mcroskey gave us a makeup gift of a top of the line all goose-down pillow.

The new box-spring set came a week or so later and was delivered and installed by different delivery people.

Now onto my thoughts on the mattress. It was immediately comfortable but definitely has a different feel from standard mattresses due to it's older fashion design. It takes a bit of getting used to. You don't get the same give that you find in most mattress when you first lie down, rather you seem to get more support. The mattress just seems to just get more and more comfortable over time. It's a total luxury now to sleep in this bed and I can't ever see myself going back to another mattress. My back pains are totally gone and my wife's shoulder pains are basically gone as well.

To sum it up, I find both the bed and the Mcroskey company itself fully live up to their reputation.

No-flip nightmare

Simmons Beautyrest World Class

We purchased our top-of-the line Beautyrest mattress last February. It was our Valentine's Day gift to each other.

After visiting (2) different Sleepy's mattress stores, the model we selected was the Simmons' world-class "Druscilla". (In hindsight, we should have listened to the salesman at the second store. He told us, "If you buy this mattress, you'll be back here in a year, buying another mattress". We ignored his comment because his overall attitude was awful and we felt that he was trying to make us spend more money on a different brand.)

The king-size set's price ended up being around $1600. It was Simmon's BEST model and came with their highest number rating for their 'do-not-disturb' index.

The first few months, the mattress was a dream. But like so many other unfortunate Simmons owners, the dream was short-lived. You guessed it.....The craters developed and became increasingly worse, forcing you to remain in the same spot on the mattress. Both of us are side-sleepers and I truly believe that the coil support within in the mattress has weakened but one cannot see it because of the pillowtop.

6 months after owning this mattress, I began experiencing muscle spasms in my lower back and shoulders and have been visiting a Chiropractor ever since. I never considered it could be on account of this cratered torture device. A month ago, I went on vacation and during my week's stay sleeping in a different bed, all of my neck, shoulder and back pains went away. The first morning after being back home and sleeping in our bed brought the return of my nagging body aches. Within 30 minutes of laying in bed, my hip aches so bad that I have to turn over. This constant flipping to aleviate hip discomfort has prevented me from feeling like I've had a restful night of sleep, in ages.

If you are reading this review, PLEASE take my experience into consideration if you are contemplating purchasing a Simmons Beautyrest, no-flip, pillow-top mattress. You WILL regret your purchase and will find yourself in the market for a replacement.

After extensive research regarding mattresses, I have just placed an order with a company called, "Flobeds". I can't wait for our new latex bed to arrive.

Luckily, bulk trash pick-up in my neighborhood isn't far off and you can be assured that our Beautyrest is going to be curbside.
