I promised last June to let you know how I felt about our new Spring Air Back Supporter Arlington model after we'd had it for awhile. I haven't changed my opinion about this mattress so far. I still absolutely love it. When I waken in the night on my back it is not because of discomfort which had always been the case before. Previously all it would take to waken me would be to have turned over onto my back while asleep.
At the very beginning I did experience some lower back pain on the new mattress which surprised me until I read you can experience some temporary pain when you switch from a too-firm mattress. That was exactly the case.
I was never able to sleep on my back before getting the Spring Air and always wanted to be able to.
I find the support level as well as the cushioning at pressure points to be perfect for my shape and size. ( I am 5'7" and 135 lbs). I wish my husband found it helped him since his sciatica was the motivating factor in our acquisition. He needs a firmer mattress than I do and this is too soft for him

Sealy Laguna Beach Pillowtop Mattress

Summary:
We considered a lot of beds before deciding on the Laguna Beach. From the minute I found this forum, I was kind of sold on the idea of Latex, but my girlfriend and I were open to some of the higher-end innerspring designs as well (mostly S&F).

We had to travel an hour to the nearest retailer of the Reflexions line, and they carried the Manhattan, Venice Beach & Laguna Beach. We were looking for something medium-plush, so the Manhattan was out. The Venice just felt a little too mushy to us and not as supportive. Oddly, you would think that the Laguna Beach would be more plush than the Venice Beach, but we definitely found the Laguna to be more supportive/less mushy. It was the "perfect" feel for us. I noticed that us-mattress.com also rates the Laguna as a "7" on the comfort scale, while the Venice gets a rating of "7.5", indicating that their testers agreed the the Laguna is slightly firmer.

After sleeping on this mattress for 2+ weeks, we REALLY like this bed. I no longer wake up with any numbness in my hips, which is a problem I frequently experienced on my girlfriend's 6 year old Costco Sealy mattress. I frequently sleep straight through the night now, where I did not before. I no longer wake up tossing & turning.

I should also note that I purchased the Sealy Euro Latex pillows a week ago, and that they are FANTASTIC as well. Very supportive, yet comfy. I used to use 2 pillows to sleep, but now I can get by with just a single Sealy Latex pillow.

Other Options We Considered:
If we hadn't gone with the Laguna Beach, we probably would have went with the S&F Edenbridge (aka Rose Light @ Mattress Firm). It is a tad firmer than the Laguna but very nice. In the end, I liked the idea of Latex better, and the Laguna was slightly more comfortable to us.

We also considered some of the "K" line models from S&F (Kingsthorne, etc.) but found them to be just a little too soft for us. When we were lying close to each other in the bed, we felt like we were sinking in a little too much (and neither of us weigh over 150 lbs).

We didn't consider any of the Nature's Rest beds, mostly because they were too expensive. We were already spending more than we wanted to initially, and a comparable Nature's Rest would have cost SEVERAL hundred more.

Side Note:
I've read some concerns about Latex sleeping hot, but we have NOT found this to be the case. My girlfriend and I are like ovens at night (we have to crank the A/C way down at night here in Florida), but we have noticed no change since upgrading from our old bed. This may be due to the fact that we use an all cotton mattress pad, but I'm not sure. Either way, we have not experienced any increase in warmth with the Laguna.

Let me preface this review by telling you that for the last three years we had been sleeping on a Sealy Crown Jewel Avalon (from Rockaway Bedding). It was considered a Plush mattress using the DSS coil system. Well, I suppose when we first had it it must have been comfortable (or we would not have purchased it to begin with). I don't remember the point where it became the opposite, but it must have been about a year or so. The problem seems to have stemmed from the fact that the plush topping material compressed after time leaving a tough, impenatrable mattress surface. It seemed that the coils were not supportive at all, but pushing our bodies away. It had to go!

We looked into various mattress materials such as the Visco elastic, etc, but came to the realization that a latex mattress would most likely be our solution.

We were only able to try out only the Huntington Beach and the Newport due to limited stores having them available. We opted for the Newport because it was a much softer feel which we loved.

We've only slept in/on it 2 nights now but it is truly wonderful! The feel is just so much more comfortable than the innerspring! I guess everyone has different needs, but I really can't see how a latex bed wouldn't be comfortable to most everyone! I have scoliosis (moderate, not severe) as well as osteoarthritis and am only 95 lbs.... my husband doesn't have any real problems (only ones created by the previous mattress) and is 170 lbs. This mattress is extremely comfortable and supportive for him, while allowing my body to recess ever so slightly where necessary while supporting the concaves of my body.

It really is WONDERFUL!!!
