Spring air Chattam & Wells

After much suffering with some other brands and a huge hassle trying to return, we finally found comfort with this brand. I was worried about the no-flip design but it's been great. Initially we rotated the mattress around but that hasn't been necessary after the first yr or two. It feels just about like it did when first purchased. Spring Air had already purchased Chattam and Wells when we purchased. I hope they've upheld the standards. Gauge is 12.75 double offset with 368 (?) coils.
Date Purchased: 06/2001
Price Paid: $1000
Recommend: Yes

Pros:

We bought the low end C & W- one step up from the bottom. No pillow top or euro top so we don't have to worry about compression. It would be a little too firm without the deluxe Austrian wool mattress pad that we purchased from a high end linen catalog store in Manhattan (Schweitzer Linens).

Cons:

Mattress quilt apparently didn't contain the cashmere that was prominantly advertised- at least not listed on the mfg tag.

Bought Dec. 2004 in a rush because "price was going up". Called back supporter. 15 year old mattress that w had before gave better support than this. After a couple of months, permanent impresions so deep we roll into them when we lay down. Warranty tech said "he's not allowed to lay on the mattress" and when measured, the "impressions" are "normal". We will have to buy another new bed. Is there any recourse???
Date Purchased: Dec. 2004
Price Paid: $700

Pros:

TOO SOFT

Cons:

Have had it 6 months. Like sleeping in ditches. Warranty review says it is within "normal" parameters so they won't help us.

Huge body impressions/3 defective mattresses

The initial wonderful feel of these beds is quickly overshadowed by the deep, severely limiting and uncomfortable body impressions. We have tried both the Paradise Isle and the non pillow topped Cypress Cove which is supposed to be a soft mattress without the compression factor that comes along with the pillow tops. We had major compression with both types.
We do not recommend these mattresses.
Date Purchased: 02/04
Price Paid: $3400
Recommend: No

Pros:

When you first sleep on the bed, for the first couple of weeks, it is like heaven it is so soft and comfortable. The company has a good warranty (20 year) and will replace if more than an inch impressionis measured.

Cons:

After a couple of weeks, there are body impressions that do not go away when no one is in the bed. They are like sink holes when you lay in them to sleep. It is difficult to roll over. You are confined to that space when sleeping and cannot make use of the larger space of the bed due to high hump in the middle.
