My wife and I tried several spring mattresses and didn't like the memory foam toppers on everything because we ended up in a dip on our side of the bed with a big ridge between us (I've seen it called 'canoeing' on this site).

We were convinced into a Latex mattress by a salesman because they were supposed to never sag, were all natural (and we'd had problems with chemical smells from memory foam 'gassing out') and had a 20-year warranty. The Nature's Rest we tried in the shop seemed acceptable so we negotiated hard and went with it.

After the first night we seemed to have sunk down and within 30 days I was calling the retailer to complain about the sagging. They agreed that a brand new mattress shouldn't sag that much (even when manufacturers blame it on 'compression' of the top layers). After 60 days the manufacturer sent out an 'independent' assessor who takes measurements and a letter arrives from Spring Air to say that any dips of less than 1.5inches are 'normal', that it's not on the right box spring and they won't replace it.

Now my retailer was also really hard to work with but even they agreed that this was a terrible response (but refused to admit they'd lied about needing the matching box spring). On it went for months with Spring Air refusing to honor their warranty or stand by their terrible product and the retailer offering terrible terms to exchange for a more expensive product.

After 6 months we have given up and resigned to sleeping apart with a divide in the middle.

Considering how expensive these mattresses are it is disgusting how the manufacturers will not stand by their products and are just obsessed with piling more and more pillowtops on them to con buyers at retail.

Steer well clear of Spring Air - or buy from a department store who offer their own warranty.

Pros:

Pretty Green tree design at the foot of the bed. Wasn't high on my criteria list though...

Cons:

Sagging and you don't feel supported like you do on springs.
