You should try it without a topper first. You might like it that way....

The additional expense may not be justified, but a Simmons EverNu hotel mattress might be an option (if available to individual consumers). At least you could unzip the top and experiment with different latex and memory foam comfort layers....

My history. Replaced my old mattress after having numbness and aches in my shoulders with a Simmons World Class Beauty rest PLUSH mattress, not a pillow top. I was having trouble getting comfortable and sleeping on my sides & was experiencing some aches in my hips. Sooooooo it was recommended I get a pillow top instead. Not wanting to go through the exchange hassle it was recommended I try a 3" latex topper. Sooooooo I got a 3" topper from FBM 20 ILD, soft. I have been on this 6 days and my shoulder problems are back. What did I do wrong ? Do I need more time to adjust ?? Thanks for any inputs....

Hi sillymom. Thanks for your input. Actually, I still have another 15 days to do the exchange. Iv'e never owned a topper. So you think I'll needto replace the topper annually ? The cheapest topper Iv'e seen is about $150 @ walmart. If I need a new topper annually, that sure adds up. On the other hand, you're right about getting stuck with a softer mattress. I have a plush , simmons world class, not pillow top. Do you think this will get softer if i hang on to it ? Thanks again....

Hi Everyone - I'm new to the forum, and I hope I can make my first post a good one...
I have been researching and shopping for a Latex Eastern King to replace to our 12 year old Simmons. I have been mining the old WTB-M forum, and googling, and I've visited the 5 largest shops in my area. So far, my wife is dead set against me trying to build out a set of cores at sleepez.com or the other online foam favorites. So, that limits me to local stores. The selection is pretty thin in mattresses with Latex cores - it appears to be Englander, Serta Vera Wang or Sealy Spring Free. We did NOT like the Serta or the Sealy - all the models on the showroom were too soft and/or too plush. We have seen an Englander that we liked - it was quilted, but it did...

I think dozing off would be a very good sign, congrats on the purchase.
I had to pick up a full foundation at a mattress store Sunday for a guest bed I put together and I have to admit the factory made pillow tops looked inviting, but reports of hammocking within a year have me concerned for the unsuspecting consumer. One young mother was was applying for credit to see what mattress she could buy. I worried that it would last until she paid it off.
Anyway, you should enjoy your full latex mattress for a long time....

It seems like a nice deal for a 100% latex mattress, is there a way you can try it? What is IKEA's return policy if in case you don't like it after a couple of days?
If you browse through the review section you will find many reporting premature failure of the S-brand mattresses. Latex lasts a long time....
Comfort exchange - what to look for? Cheap toppers? - CorinaB

I am hoping someone can help me with a comfort exchange. I bought a Simmons Beautyrest Classic Plush that felt great in the store, but turns out to be horrible to sleep on (for me). The coils around the edges are firmer than the rest of the bed, so it doesn't provide a sleeping surface with even support. I end up in the middle of the bed or lying diagonally! I weigh 110, am a side sleeper, and slept on a futon for the past ten years. I got rid of the futon because it had a body impression that was uncomfortable for me, and I was beginning to suspect it was a little too firm for my back.

Well, after much consideration, I canceled the deposit with Sleep Country and bit the bullet -- I'm taking delivery of the Mattress on Saturday. IKEA has a 45 day -exchange- policy on the mattress, but no returns are accepted unfortunately.
I didn't mention in my earlier post, but I had spent a day testing out mattresses, and IKEA was my last stop. It was the only place that I think I actually really dozed off for a bit. I don't know if it was because I had grown tired lying around on different beds, or if it was the intelligible drone of people wandering about, or maybe it was just a nice comfy mattress.
Anyhow, I'm certain that I want a latex mattress, and for $500 less than the next nearest competitor, IKEA doesn't seem like such a bad first choice. We'll see.
I intend on purchasing either a featherbed or a...

I've been trying to do some research about IKEA's apparently new Erfjord mattresses, and was wondering if anyone has heard anything about them. Typically, I prefer to stay away from IKEA for their furniture; however, I like their smaller items like cutlery, plates, and plastic boxes -- ie stuff that can't break due to particleboard material used.
From the little that I've managed to find, their beds are often quite low-budget, but I've still heard some fairly good things about them. For example, for their price, they're very comfortable.
Knowing that latex mattress are exceptionally long-lasting, I searched and found out about the Erfjord. For a queen, it's $999 and that buys what I believe is a Dunlop Mattress that's been shaped in some kind of moulding process to have "7 comfort zones". I'm thinking they just vary the size of the pinholes in the mattress to play with density. Still, not...
