We bought a Simmons Beauty Rest Exceptionale, with the huge thick pillow top. The manufacture date was 2010. So it was four years old. It was so heavy it took all of 3 men to move it. This is absolutely the best mattress I've ever owned. It is so incredibly soft and "cushy".

Great mattress!!! We traded this baby in for our old 27 year old one. What a deal for $100. I see them selling for $1000 and up. Do your back a favor....run out and buy one today!!!!!

Incredible bed,

This bed is my first bed, after sleeping on the floor for a number of years or on futons, I decided to grow up and get a real bed. This bed will likely last for a decade (thankfully my husband and I are both on the light side and are motionless sleepers). I bought it used for 250$ and this included a high priced frame as well. So lucked out!
Date Purchased: 09/2012
Price Paid: $200
Recommend: Yes

Pros:

no sagging anywhere, no squeeking, conforms as promised, and superior fabric.

Cons:

the price if you were to buy it new.

Lots of money for a failed mattress

About 8 months ago I purchased a Simmons Exceptionale at Macy's in Seattle. It was the most expensive in the line (regularly $7,500, on sale for $4,500). It was probably made just for Macy's since I've not been able to find anything similar. The top 5" layer is latex. I was returning a Hotel Collection bed with memory foam top that had also failed, and I (foolishly) thought that by going to the top of the line, I would guarantee myself a good bed. I am a side sleeper and the bed felt very soft but supportive in the store. I was told that the bed in the store was fully "broken in" and that this is what it would feel like at home. I am not a large person (5'8" 155lbs), I have a small waist (30") and broad shoulders for my size (41" jacket). My partner is similar in size.

8 months later and the bed has deep (2"- 3" ) body indendtations that are quite hard. The rest of the bed is soft and springy. It is bad enough that neither of us can roll over because it puts us at an unnatural slant on the bed. So much for snuggling!

Personally I feel like the product was poorly designed and built. Having read lots on the website, I feel that the latex they used was very soft and bound to compress pretty quickly. Both of us are now having back pains for the first time in our lives, and I'm now hunting for a replacement (I feel guilty about moving the bad bed into a guest room, but I can't bring myself to throw away a $4,500 bed).

My recommendation- do not buy this bed. In fact, look very carefully at any of the non-flippable pillow-top style beds, because from what I can see, pretty much all of them form indentations.
