I just bought the Paula Deen by Serta gel/foam mattress. It is replacing a Serta Perfect Sleeper foam mattress 12 years old. Even though it had a 20 year warranty, it just "died" several months ago but it was great until then. The Paula Deen has 2" of memory gel on top and then two more layers of foam (polyurethane). I'm. not sure about the foam yet (polyurethane vs. latex and others). Th Paula Deen Whitaker Sunset is wonderful for side sleeper support; not sure about other positions. I was having horrible pain in the left hip (side I sleep on) for several months and think it was due to the old mattress. The Paula Deen seems to have remedied the problem. I have no more pain in that hip! I will update this review in a few months when I have slept on it longer to let you know how this mattress is holding up. The cost was only $500 mattress and foundation at Big Lots. Purchased on 10/5/14

After 6 months both of our backs began to hurt. We tried to replace the mattress or pro-rate it. But there was no structural defect so Serta would not 'switch' it out.

I would not recommend this mattress or company.

If you need back support stay away from this mattress.

I bought this mattress in Nov 2012. The first 10 months were okay. I say okay because I had to get use to the memory foam which was nice and firm as it should be for a form mattress. Then it happened, it started to break down on the one side I slept on. So I rotated the the mattress and soon after that side also broke down. So when you look at the foam mattress you do not see a sag, but when you push with your hand you can feel there is nothing there for resistance or support. I have called the retail store which sent a service man out to look at it, He even said yes that the bed had broke down and had no support. I was notified today that Serta was turned down my warranty request because it has not sagged the 1 1/2 inches requested to measure the sag test. Wow!!!!! NEVER BUY FROM SERTA.
