I've had back,neck,and knee pain for most of my life, and I've had plenty of sleeplessness nights throughout my lifetime.... I just came to the conclusion that this was the way life was going to be for me.... It had turned me into quite the "Insomniac" throughout those many many years of not being comfortable in my own bed. Let me just begin by saying that I've always been quite athletic and I think I was actually playing sports before I could ever walk!!! I come by it honestly, my whole family has been active in many different sports throughout their lifetimes. Between gymnastics, dance classes, Basketball, softball, soccer, volleyball, track & field, horse back riding and even an all girls football team we had in High school, I totally lived for and challenged myself and my poor body to it when it came to sports!!! With all my injuries throughout my school years, my body was really starting to feel a lot of pain in my knees and back to start out with, still I kept pushing myself and my overworked and aging body.... I was running marathons with knee braces or ace bandages at times, I was teaching an aerobic class almost full time at one point, and running and walking all the time just to keep that drive of physical fitness working for me, when actually it was really starting to work against me!!!! I started to even work out in the middle of the night when I was unable to sleep... I had a rowing machine, stationary bike, stair stepper, treadmill, and lifted free weights while I was unable to sleep. After 2 knee surgeries, sprained ankles, and a pretty bad car accident while traveling over the snowy pass that left me in a back brace for much longer than I had wanted... I started really wanting to find a way to sleep just to not feel pain for once!!! We are true believers now, I just wish I had this bed years and years ago.... It would have saved many many sleepless nights. Now, the only problem is.... This mattress is very well ventilated mattress, no more overheating at night. I am sleeping better and longer - in fact unlike the old bed this mattress is hard to get out of - you want to stay in it and be cozy and comfortable. I have bursitis in my hips and I have neck, shoulder and arm pain. Years ago, my doctor recommended a Tempurpedic cervical pillow for my neck (which cost $110). It felt like my head was lying on a concrete block. I never understood the concept of memory foam where your body sinks into the mattress and when you change positions, it takes a while for the mattress to catch up. What is that about? Anyway, I tried a latex pillow and loved its resiliency so I thought I would try a latex mattress. When I saw this mattress that could be customized to suit your needs, I jumped at the chance to try it. In trying to decide what level to choose, I read so many reviews that indicated the mattress in the default level 6 was too soft. Some people said that they "sunk" into the mattress. Based on those reviews, I thought that a 7 might be just about right for me, and concerned that anything higher than a 7 might actually be too soft, I ordered the 7. I am 5'7" and weigh 145 lbs. and I do not sink into the mattress at all as others stated. I wish I would have ordered an 8 or above because I think an adequate level of firmness would still be there even at a 10. I have slept on this mattress now for about a month and I do believe that it is an improvement over my former mattress and I think that it would have been perfect if I had ordered a softer mattress. If you are like me and have pain issues and you are not overweight, I would recommend ordering a higher level. And would highly recommend it! You also won't find a better price anywhere!

Both my husband and I had back surgeries, this bed provides wonderful support without sinking into the foam. Usually I would start having back pain due to the change of season, not this season! The charcoal seems to work very well keeping our body temp from overheating during sleep. We loved this bed so much we got another for our guest room! We've had it for about 6 weeks now. This was the first time EVER I purchased a bed without laying on it first so I was skeptical. I wasn't able to find any foam mattress close to the comfort of this bed. This LUCID bed has a great price for superior quality. A helpful hint for all, you do not need a base or box spring. We purchased a highly rated wire grid frame that can be inserted into any platform bed or attached to headboard and footboard which gives it just the right height. Like the other reviews the box came a little beat up but bed was perfectly packed unharmed. The package is heavy and left at your front door. You cut the plastic and let the bed sit for 24 -48 hours. It had no more of a smell than any other new bed we have ever purchased, so don't let the odor factor into your decision. The bed is fantastic. It softened up some. I don't feel him moving, he doesn't feel me which is very important to us because we have vastly different schedules. My back pain has gone away and his has improved. I don't toss and turn all night long. I would recommend this bed to anyone. Give it more than a day or two before you review also. I believe this is a great buy and would buy another one in a heartbeat. From traditional mattress people to memory foam converts we are! it was gorgeous. Extremely comfortable, good size, and i have not had any smell or heat problems....Shocked at the quality!!!
