No stars! Seemed comfortable at first but has gotten steadily more and more uncomfortable. All my pressure points are back and the pain worsened the more I slept on it. Sleeps very warm. Tried to return but was just a few days outside the return policy. Staff very rude and unprofessional(Mario) They would not post my review on their website even though I am a "verified owner" Would not recommend, watch out!

Aloe Alexis - Review

Brooklyn Bedding Aloe Alexis

The most comfortable mattress I have ever slept upon. Including all the various hotel beds, pillowtops, Big "S" mattresses, etc.

Brooklyn Bedding's customer service is truly outstanding. Granted that describing one's mattress preferences can seem like a challenge over the phone (such as "medium, maybe a little firmer than softer"), they're very good at matching the latex layers to it. And in any event, they will exchange latex layers to create a softer or firmer sleep experience if the fit wasn't exact.

I liked that the Aloe Alexis is a three-layer mattress, with the 7" base layer, a 3" latex medium transition layer, and a slightly softer 3" latex comfort layer. The base is polyfoam, but it's 2.17 lb. and from all I've read, the base layer is likely the last thing to go in any type of mattress (including coil-spring mattresses).

The mattress cover is well-constructed, a nice chocolate brown around the sides and sort of a thick suede-like material. The top layer is quilted cotton/aloe. The base layer is sewn into the bottom of the cover, with a breathable cloth layer sewn across the top. The latex layers are lain inside and zipped up inside the cover. The entire top layer can be removed if needed (360 degree zipper) and the zipper run itself has a wide band of cloth on the interior to prevent the zipper from encountering the latex.

Mine is a "5" firmness per Brooklyn Bedding's numerical system, which translates to a 28 ILD Talalay Latex 3" comfort layer over a 32 ILD Talalay Latex 3" Transition layer, and the firmer base layer below that.

Off-gassing (the initial latex smell) was gone within several hours. The polyfoam never had any smell.

I can say after this that I'm a believer in latex mattresses and don't envision returning to innerspring styles.

Pros:

* Sleeps cool - I've never had a mattress sleep this cool - and we're talking Houston in the summer time. I never feel heat build up underneath.

* Limited motion transfer between sleepers. If someone is tossing and turning, it doesn't shake the other sleeper.

* I vary between side, back, and stomach sleeping and the bed is comfortable in any position. I've had zero back or neck pains - which I can't say about our two previous Big "S" beds. The innerspring mattresses have often felt good to initially lie down upon, but after several hours it isn't the same experience. Partly that may be because the latex provides a more consistent support. It's not enveloping at all, either, so it's comfortable and easy to change sleep positions.

* My understanding is also that latex mattresses tend to be more durable and last longer than innerspring. And at the least, one could extend many styles of latex mattresses by simply unzipping the cover and replacing one or more layers.

Cons:

I've had back, neck, and knee pain for most of my life, and I've had plenty of sleeplessness nights throughout my lifetime.... I just came to the conclusion that this was the way life was going to be for me.... It had turned me into quite the "Insomniac" throughout those many many years of not being comfortable in my own bed. Let me just begin by saying that I've always been quite athletic and I think I was actually playing sports before I could ever walk!!! I come by it honestly, my whole family has been active in many different sports throughout their lifetimes. Between gymnastics, dance classes, Basketball, softball, soccer, volleyball, track & field, horse back riding and even an all girls football team we had in High school, I totally lived for and challenged myself and my poor body to it when it came to sports!!! With all my injuries throughout my school years, my body was really starting to feel a lot of pain in my knees and back to start out with, still I kept pushing myself and my overworked and aging body.... I was running marathons with knee braces or ace bandages at times, I was teaching an aerobic class almost full time at one point, and running and walking all the time just to keep that drive of physical fitness working for me, when actually it was really starting to work against me!!!! I started to even work out in the middle of the night when I was unable to sleep... I had a rowing machine, stationary bike, stair stepper, treadmill, and lifted free weights while I was unable to sleep. After 2 knee surgeries, sprained ankles, and a pretty bad car accident while traveling over the snowy pass that left me in a back brace for much longer than I had wanted... I started really wanting to find a way to sleep just to not feel pain for once!!! My sister n' law and I were talking one day and she let me know about this absolutely Amazing bed that her and her husband had purchased, and she highly recommended it to her brother and I... She let me know that while she was going through Menopause now, she was suffering severely from night sweats and Insomnia from not having it cool enough and her bed comfortable enough to relax. She was really starting to suffer from Panic attacks in the middle of the night and throughout the day from lack of sleep, and going through the "Change of Life" itself.... I was starting to also suffer from "Hot Flashes" and Night Sweats where I'd wake up completely drenched from the little amount of sleep I had gotten.... I really new that at this point in life, that something really needed to change for me and my sleeping habits. So, I came online and looked up "Brooklyn Bedding" to find out more about this Amazing bed that she was raving about... It was the most comfortable bed that she had ever had, and it really kept the bed cool at night for her!!! Well, I had never heard of any bed staying cool all the time, so I was quite a skeptic in the beginning.... I was so impressed with this chat feature on here, because I'm not real crazy about using the phone to inquire about such products. After my Extremely thorough "Chat" conversation with Mario, and finding out that my purchase would include "Free Shipping", a "120 Day Risk Free Trial", and "100% Customer Satisfaction Guarantee"... What did I have to lose??? We went all out and ordered the California King Size "Cool Luxe".... I was getting pretty excited for the delivery date, and when it finally arrived it was absolutely Beautiful!!! Let me just say "Pure Magnificence" The comfort was out of this world, and YES... It did stay cool all night long, and so did I!!! Guess What?? I actually slept the whole night through pain free for the first time in many many years!!! Have I told you about the magic "Coolness" that it gives off??? I'm not sure if my husband is more in love with me or our bed now??? We are true believers now, I just wish I had this bed years and years ago.... It would have saved many many sleepless nights. Now, the only problem is.... I can't manage to get out of bed anymore as quickly as I used to!!! Thank You... Thank You... Thank You.... Brooklyn Bedding for all the Joy and Comfort that I am finally feeling when I SLEEP now!!! You All are Truly "Life Savers" & "Miracle Workers"!!!!
