I personally believe that the biggest "mistake" that people make when they search for a mattress is looking right from the beginning for a specific mattress that is within their price range and that has all the qualities that they feel they like and need. They take every criteria and "evaluate" every mattress as a whole which very quickly becomes confusing. This also tends to make them vulnerable to salespeople who quickly read what they have come to believe is important to them and then steer them in the direction that they may like the best and add a "custom built story" to two or three mattresses that they believe their prospect will buy. More often than not they do. In most cases a mattress purchasor is buying a story and these stories can get really expensive. I would much rather buy a good book.

In my opinion,...

I posted some sources for 3" Talalay toppers here http://www.whatsthebest-mattress.com/forum/latex-toppers/16314-0-1.html

I'd probably be looking for around 24 ILD give or take (it's impossible for me to know for sure without some specific feedback from you knowing what latex you have laid on and how it felt)

I really like the rejuvenite but you'd have to call and see what it would cost to ship. If the 28 worked it would be great and the 19 may be OK too but probably a little soft for you.

The STL one is a great deal but I'm pretty sure it's 14 ILD which I think would be too soft. Don't know if they ship  to Canada or how much.

In general I would probably go with either places like Costco and Sams club for the return policy or mattresses.net and sleepez since they...

1. Something like this http://www.mygreenmattress.com/view_products/echomattress.htm would probably also be suitable and would leave you room in your budget for a latex topper as well should you want it. The quality sleep side of their business could probably even add a layer of latex for less than it would cost you to buy a topper if you wished.

2. Probably your least expensive "all latex" option would be to buy 2 of these http://www.mattresses.net/3-twin-natural-latex-mattress-pad.html and then buy a 6" cotton mattress encasement here http://www.sleepez.com/mattresscomponents.htm and you would have a 6" all latex mattress for $358 plus a bit of shipping.

3.Don't forget though that you will need some kind of waterproof barrier in case of accidents and in the case of the latex option #2, since the mattress encasement is just cottton and I personally believe that sleeping on wool leads to a deeper...

Latex Toppers - Phoenix

I originally put this in the Plushbeds thread but I thought it was probably more appropriate that it had it's own. I'll add more for Dunlop and other thicknesses as I have the chance or find out more from some of the companies I didn't include because they don't have prices listed on their website.

If anyone has any other good sources for latex toppers that offer good prices or choices ... or even special time limited pricing as they come up ... they would certainly be welcomed

This price was from a previous conversation I had with them when I was talking to a lot of manufacturers. I have it in my notes.

I talked to several people today that could help in the search.

First of all was these people in Moline http://www.platformbeds.com/index.php3?category=0000000005&cart_id=240690161020610964 who have 3 latex beds (poly in the support layers) listed on their website which are not yet set up in their showroom. They will probably set them up on monday. They will make a great testing ground when they are and may probably give us enough information to get to a final decision.

I also talked to either the owner or manager of the back store that you went to http://www.thebackstoreonline.com/cats/locations.htm. I told him of your experience with being steered to the Tempurpedics and he knew who you had probably talked to. Told him...

Actually, my recommendations came from an email exchange with Jeremy Mathis. Maybe those come from a standard list or someone else's input...

They are close to what I would have selected using only my own keen and insightful intellect cheeky - my only gap in understanding is the relative values of the densities, and I probably would have gone a step softer. I'll take their educated guess as to suitable values for a starter; those six slabs should shuffle to a comfortable setup for both of us. Worst case, I will have to swap one of them. The adjustable foundation will give some additional choices, too, and I think all that is as fussy as I will need to get to find comfort.

We'll see. To quote Inigo Montoya, "I hate waiting."
