Hello and thanks in advance for your help.

I bought a new, cheap mattress about a year ago and recently have been waking up with all kinds of neck and muscle pain/strains.  If I put a memory foam topper of about three inches on it will that make a significant difference or do I need to just toss out the mattress and get a 10" to 12" memory foam bed?  What's the story with memory foam that has latex?  What's the advantage to that?

TIA

Buying a good quality mattress is a neccesity but since you already have one, I would suggest you get a memory foam topper and try it for a while. If you still feel muscle strains and pains, you can then get a memory foam mattress. I'm making this suggestion because many people have found succour with cheap beds just by adding a memory foam topper. All the best!
