Back from another round of mattress shopping.

I've come to my senses, at least partially, and ruled out the Sealy I was considering yesterday (a firm Posturepedic with the DSi pocket coils). The coil count seems way too low for the mattress to hold up for any reasonable length of time.

Today, someone at a different branch of the furniture store I visited yesterday tried to find specs for me, and it appears that Sealy doesn't publish them even for their retailers (not for the DSi coils anyway). That can't be a good sign. And the in-store marketing materials from Sealy describe their "power-packed" "CoreSupport system" as having a 1" layer of memory foam and a 2" layer of Supersoft Sealyfoam.  Um... not my idea of...

I took the advise given here and tried finding a Sealy mattress that is plush without the pillowtop. Below are the 3 options I found. Can someone provide some feedback on the mattresses below?

I read that pillowtops will leave impressions sooner than regular tight tops.  Is this true?

I called Sleepys and I basically found a comparable Sealy Posturepedic with more coils for $1,200...

DIY options - ikonos

Hi,

While searching for mattress shooping information I stumbled upon this weebsite and its forum and the information available here is amazing and some times confounding for a new member. I did not start looking for a latex bed but upon reading this forum I am gravitated towards it. I looked up options on the common websites mentioned on this forum like flobeds, sleepez etc. I could not understand how the DIY model works. To take an example the Sleep EZ 13000 series King mattress. The current price is $2400 for the All natural 100% latex option. If I build it on my own from the components it is costing even more as each 3'' layer is around $600. I looked up on FBM site and it is coming to $1800 for just the 12'' layers and it does not include any cover etc and have only two...

Sealy PosturepedicHybrid mattress - elizapt
May 28, 2013 11:18 AM
I've been shopping for a new mattress (mine is at least 12 yrs old). Thought about Sleep Number and Tempurpedic but what I think I've settled on is a Sealy Posturpedic Hybrid which is half titanium coils and half memory foam with the cooling gel. It is very comfy in the store. I've chosen the firm one because I don't like the ultra plush pillow top stuff, too soft, especially when sitting in bed to read. But the mattress seems like the best of both worlds to me.

Questions: Has anyone else bought one of these? They are brand new with 25 yr. guarantee of replacement with 3/4 " dent or more.

Also, both stores I have been too they tell me that I MUST buy a mattress cover (150.00) that will keep out spills, dust mites etc because without one the warranty...

Sealy Pillowtop too hot! - sroy71
Sep 20, 2013 5:52 AM
Last week I bought a Sealy Posturepedic Regal Haze mattress. It was very soft and plush but when I slept on it, I burned up. Apparently the foam layer is trapping my body heat. I quickly returned it and upgraded to a Sealy Posturepedic Coldwater Pillow top that the salesman assured me it would not be hot.

Wrong! Not only is it hot, but it's killing my back because it's sooo soft. Now I'm sruck with this mattress and am trying to sell it online.

It seems like every mattress I see uses foam, which I think is the heat culprit. I just want a nice regular mattress!! What type of mattress will not trap heat?

Great board! We are going to buy a mattress from our local mattress shop and have a budget of less than a grand.  The 2 mattresses we are looking at are about the same price but one is gel and the other spring.  How do we decide?

Compare Sealy Mattresses Barrett Court III Vs Sedgebrooke. - getzjd@yahoo.com
Feb 22, 2016 9:45 AM
I am trying to decide between the King Sealy Posturepedic Plus Sedgebrook plus pillow top from Mattress Firm http://www.mattressfirm.com/sealy-posturepedic-plus-sedgebrooke-16-plush-pillow-top-mattress.aspx and the Sealy Posturepedic Plus Barrett Court III from us-mattress.com . http://www.us-mattress.com/sealy-pp-barrett-court-pl-ept.html

From what I can tell, these two sure seem like the same mattress. The only difference I see is that the Sedgebrooke states "Gel Latex coresupport center" and the Barrett states "CoreSuppor tcenter w/ gel memory foam"

What, if any, difference is there? With taxes, it is about a $500 difference in price and US-Mattress.com lets you swap out a mattress free during the 100 days whereas Mattress Firm wants to charge to do this.

Thanks in advance. ...
