How to form best warranty strategy? (Simmons) - mybackhurts
Jul 20, 2009 2:54 PM
I have a California King Simmons BeautyRest mattress.  I got it in 2005 so it's 4 years old now.  For the last year, it has been hurting my back because it sags.  If I sleep more than 6 hours, I have back pain.  And I'm in good shape and have never had back pain before.  it's terrible.  I looked at Simmons website for their warranty process and it seems to be bogus to me.  They make you measure the depression with two rules, it's just a stupid thing.  It's a pillowtop, first of all, so if I measure it without "applying any pressure" like they say, that's ridiculous.  My back hurts and it's because of the sag, for sure.  So measuring the fluff of the pillowtop is useless.  I don't know how many inches my body sags, but it's way more than 2 inches.

So I'm wondering what is the best...

I'm so glad I found this forum and have been learning a great deal.  Here's my situation and I can really need some help:  currently I and my husband are sleeping a futon mattress that's pretty much seen the end of its life and I have back pain.  I'm a side sleeper at 140 lb, he's a stomach sleeper and weighs 280 lb.  We have a firm inner spring mattress in the guest bedroom and have been sleeping on it.  I like it but since he comes to bed late I wake up every night around 1am when he craws into bed from all the motion ( which I don't get with the futon mattress).  The mattress is a Simmons Beautyrest ultra firm with pocketed coils.  I've been to 4-5 stores and tried Sealy Posturepedic, Tempurpedic, SpringFree latex, Stearns and Foster, Beauty Rest.  I'm getting confused with all the options. ...
Stomach Sleeper Help PLEASE! - BackHurtz

Hi there.  My wife and I recently bought the very expensive Simmons NxG Advanced Memory Foam Mattress.  We enjoyed it just fine for 6 weeksor so and then my back started hurting every morning.  I have tried sleeping on my side but I always end up on my stomach.  I have tried body pillows between the legs and anything else I can think of.  So, now it has been 3 months since we purchased the mattress and we cannot take it pack at this point.  What do I do? Do I just chalk this up as a VERY expensive lesson and get a new firmer mattress?  Is there anything I can put over the mattress we have to make it firmer on my side?  Any help is much appreciated.  I really would hate to have to toss a $2,000+ mattress after 3 months and spend more money on another mattress...

It's similar except the Hamlet has visco foam.

I think it's similar to this: http://www.sleepys.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product1_10602_-1_10312_10551   Of course Sleepys doesn't have the model we saw on line.

After asking the first question it seems that visco foam may break down fast.. Who Knows? My Simmons mattress has nothing in it besides what was standard back then, is 11 years old, has indents where we sleep (has had them for years) and we bought it super firm back then. We were looking for a bigger bed as we are going into a king size vs queen and was looking for a little more cushion this time around. We like the fact that the bed isn't bouncy when someone moves and this still impressed us with looking at the new mattresses

It would be nice to buy from a small company but I would think that it is hit or miss with them as...

Questions about mattresses - Vinny

Hi All,

I found this website from it's sister website "what's the best hot tub" and have some questions.

We have a Simmons mattress that's about 11 years old and we believe that it's time to replace it. We went shopping today and found a Simmons "Hamlet" that is sold by the Sleepys chain that we thought was comfortable and are considering purchasing. We also looked at Sealy and Serta but liked the Simmons better. The Simmons that we like is from the Beauty Rest line vs "world class" but has a viscus foam layer that seems to be an option at this level. The comfort level is a plush firm. We don't like the Tempur-pedic mattresses but I'm thinking a little memory foam may make the bed more comfortable.

We did bring some pricing from the internet with us but it seams (which I was prepared for) that cross referencing is a...
back pain caused by new mattress and latex, advice needed please! - sleeplessinpdx

Howdy.  I just found this site and it appears as if many of you are versed in mattress comfort.  I am 5'5" 128 pounds--a relatively  fit and healthy  person who has never had sleep problems until recently getting rid of an old mattress  and boxspring (traditional boxspring, flippable--my boyfrend and I slept on this  little full size thing for 10 years!--Unfortunately I don't know what kind of mattress it was--i.e. firmness, etc.  although I know it was an S brand).
Anyhow we purchased a 100% natural latex mattress from a local bedmaker-Mulligan's Mattresses--he claims it was Dunlop (however, I saw some packaging in his store that was Talalay and when I questioned him he was vague--.  We also purchased a platform frame from West Elm.
Anyhow, my spouse thought this new get-up  was the most comfortable sleep he had ever had (queen sized, medium fimness with softer 2" topper).
While...

You are probably out of luck their.  Most companies warranty against 2" of depression.  A mattress is not designed to provide 0" sag.  There will be an impression eventually no matter what your warranty says.  Even if you do get an accepted warranty claim, you will most likely be responsible for shipping cost to the factory.  Can you measure the depression?  It may be working properly.  You could have just picked a mattress that does not suit your body type?  I wish i could help you more.  If you shop online, alot of places offer sleep trials to try and alleviate things like this....

Dont know anything about them.  The simmons beautyrest is a good product but you can get the same thing for less money from other companies....
