Thanks for letting us know.
I had a Simmons once and found that  the springs got screwed up for no good reason a short time after I bought it and by a year or so it was terrible.
I have heard that they build them better now. Well it seems they don't. I'd never buy anything from that company again....

Why don't you get a firm Simmons (or other brand) replacement mattress and buy a 2" or 3" latex topper for it? This just might stop the revolving bed syndrome......

Hi Maria,

Well, I'm sorry I didn't see this post before, as I see you've already purchased your bed from FBM.  I don't know what their return policy is, but I would have suggested, along with others, that you absolutely purchase your bed from a company that offers a long trial period (e.g., 90 days) AND a 100% return policy.

Latex mattresses aren't prevalent enough yet that most of us can just drive to a showroom and try one out.  So we have to make a leap of faith and order one from the internet.  That's where the lenthy trial period and 100% return policy works in our favor.

This is precisely why I ordered my bed from Flobeds.  90 day trial period, and a 100% return guarantee.  Furthermore, during the 90 day trial period, you can exchange layers on your bed to achieve a comfort level that's right for you.

Now that I've...

I read this once, too.  I believe someone on this forum once said they worked for a mattress store and it was the case that the floor models were built differently/better.  If so, there's a good case for buying the floor model :)

It's a shame the mattress companies have all gone this way, replacing quality with cheap materials.  When I stripped my 15 year old mattress in preparation for getting the new Flobed, I took a moment to read the label on my old Simmons.  It was called a "Lincoln Luxury" and at the time it was a pocketed coil mattress with WOOL padding . . . not foam.  I had several people tell me it was the most comfortable mattress they'd ever slept in, and over 15 years it was a dream.  It really was only in the last 2 years or so the mattress just wore out.  And,...

Thanks,  I am waiting for the furniture store to come out and look at this latest disaster. I will then be switching to a firm Serta and using my latex toppers as needed. I will NEVER even consider another Simmons product. I have a good sized credit at this furniture store that I will save to help my adult children get some furniture when they finally move out....

So, after now my 3rd Simmons Mattress in a year, the comedy of errors continues. After receiving a replacement for a defective mattress 5 days ago,I tried to turn the mattress yesterday and the corner caved in when I grabbed it. The entire top layer of the mattress lifted and made about a 4 inch bubble when I pushed on the side. I finally got the mattress turned and realized that the top quilting layer is too large for the mattress. It is sewn on and makes a squiggly edge on one end and I am able to grab a handful of top quilting and pull it up 3 or 4 inches off the mattress. I went to the furniture store this morning and they are replaceing it monday. This is 3 defective mattresses from Simmons in a little over a year. The store has been terrific and I feel...

Interesting blog. I noticed he mentions the bankruptcy of Simmons and how Serta came to the rescue. What is also interesting is that in 3 local furniture stores  in my area that carry Serta and Simmons, Sealy is no longer carried.  Of course the sales staff just gives the line "Sealy mattresses just aren't what they used to be, so we no longer carry them". Of course NO mattress is made the way they used to be, but hey, why quibble. Any company that can make a great mattress and be honest about their product is a great new resource for the consumer, so thanks....

Thanks Kim.

Just as an aside, I know that Simmons is in the middle of a bankruptcy. So now, they are not even putting the Simmons Beautyrest medalion on the end sof their beds anymore. Pretty sad, they are ready to just walk away and not be responsible for the product. The law tags and info tags all state the Simmons name, but no more are they declaring themselves loud and clear on the end of the bed. This mattress was manufatured in the Agawam Ma. facility on Oct. 21, 2009. I think the fact that they will not happily declare their own product for all to seesays alot about the company....

Hello, I first joined this forum a couple of years ago. I posted about my Spring Air all latex mattress that collapsed, because they lied and it had about 3 inches of cheap PU foam in between the layers of latex. In the past two years I have been through 7 mattresses. All but 2 have been defective.Tomorrow I am about to receive my 8th. This is my 3rd Simmons beautyrest in a little over a year. The last two have been double layered coil and the top layer slid off. I am limited in what I can exchange for, so I opted for a different type of  Beautyrest World Class. This one has only a single layer of coils. I am at my wits end. I hope this one lasts. My husband and I settled on this type of coil system because it offers me the same type of support that latex...
Latex topper advice - sorehips

We bought a Simmons Black Label Rosalyn about earlier this year. Both sleep great for months. Now I'm tossing and turning, and waking up with hip, arm, and back pain. We liked our firm mattress, but it's settled Hard (capital H). After some reading, I think a 2 inch Latex topper might help. My boyfriend sleeps hot and sweats at night sometimes, so memory foam is out. Does a 16-18 ILD  2-in latex topper (dunlop process) sound about right, or better med-firm 28 ILD? I'm 5'6" 120 lbs, and boyfriend is 5'10" 210 lbs, both back/side sleepers. Sleep Warehouse has the 2inch latex at $269 for 16-18 ILD and $299 for 28 ILD. Foam by Mail offers 2 inch Talalay 20 ILD for $209, and 32 ILD for $214, although based on another poster's pics, it looks like they have some quality issues.

Any suggestions? My back, arms, and hips thank you....
