The only advice I can give is that at that price point, you are probably looking at a mattress with a short lifespan. Most mattresses these days are made with PU foam on top of the springs, which degrades, compresses, and forms craters in the mattress within a short time. If you browse the forums, you'll find many people complaining about this, and my daughter's $800 Simmons lasted about 2 years before it formed a giant crater in the middle.
Unfortunately, you get what you pay for, and these days $800 doesn't buy much mattress. So, given your budget, I would just go to the mattress store and lie on a bunch of different mattresses. If you find one that seems comfortable to you, spend a good 15 minutes on it. If it's still comfortable, it might last a few years....

I know that there is very little latex inside the mattress, and it has several layers of PU foam, which will most likely break down very quickly and cause craters in your bed . . . look at US mattress to see what is inside the Springfree. The website has a chart of all the Simmons/Sealy/Serta "latex" mattresses and breakdown of what is actually inside these mattresses. They aren't 100% latex.

Actually I do have money for a startup if I thought it would be profitable, and I live in Socal as well. Yeah, the returns would probably be a killer. Although, every store has to deal with that issue. However a local store where people can try in advance would help.
I just stopped by Macy's to lay on some innerspring. The higher spring count Sealy (780 queen?) defiinitely felt more supportive than the 730 coil count. Same guage. I don't think the firm had too much foam/padding. Felt pretty good. I also like the Simmons extra firm. I think that has 900+ pocketed coil of 13.25 guage. Slightly firmer feel than the Sealy. The salesman could not tell me the extra amount of inches of stuff on top of the Simmons, but I may be able to research both at US Mattress. Not sure how well the pocketed coils hold up, but...

I agree many of the people on this is site are real people who have no intentions of misleading. Maybe I didn't explain in detail how I feel. I hope companies who make better quality products make money and stay in business. They provide a valuable service. I believe the price of a good night sleep is worth a lot just like you do. It is shocking on how much these luxury mattress can cost but If these are the only mattresses that helps you sleep then get on your knees and thank the cosmos. The one thing I hate is companies that give false claims and mislead. Just like wendy's song saying "you know when its real" where you might speculate they are using only real ingredients and not shit loads preservatives and taste enhancing god knows what. I believe the foam and latex companies are guilty of...
Re: Anyone try Serta 'cool' memory foam topper? - jackson

For me, I would just prefer to sleep as cool as possible and I've found that the MF does hold the heat. I have a new traditional Simmons spring mattress for which I am searching for a topper. I mentioned in another post that I purchased the 2.5" 5lb Aerus from Sam's Club but just did not like the feel of it - if did not feel as if it conformed to my body whatsoever. Just odd. I was trying to purchase only from somewhere that I could return in person but that has proven to be too limiting. There are several options on Overstock and I think I will just take my chances and order from them - hoping to not need to return it....
What am I doing wrong re: memory foam topper? - jackson

Hello to everyone. Ok, so I have been through a Sealy memory foam bed (softened up too much and caused low back pain for me>>>returned) then a Temperpedic (too firm, caused shoulder pain and numbness>>>returned) then a Sealy Purembrace latex (worst of all, the indentations myself and my husband left after only a few months were unacceptable - felt like sleeping in a hole, and caused back pain and tossing and turning>>>hoping to sell). Which leads me to bed #4 - cheapest Simmons bed at Macys, listed as a firm but with the softer gauge wires. Actually doesn'f feel too bad alone, but not the feel I want so I bought it with the intention of getting a topper. I purchased an Aerus 2.5" memory foam topper from Sam's Club, which is 5# foam. This is the problem now: the topper just does not seem like memory foam on the...

Hi Y'all, i've been reading this forum for ages, when i started looking at water beds and found out they weren't good for scoliosis... then i moved to air bed and tried to make a sleep comfort bed of my own haha... please note that i have a baaaad back and wake up after about 4 hours in too much pain to go on sleeping, i wake up, move around, sit around, and the pain goes away and i go back to bed to sleep a little more... i'm on the look out for a new bed because we had an old simmons beauty rest which was flippable so it lasted a good 20 years, and it was great for my back until it was just too old... so we bought a memory foam mattress, sooo comfy getting in, but would respond to my core heat and the...

Hi
I am looking at buying summerhill & Bishop too and comparing it to Simmons. Did you end up buying this mattress? Would love your thoughts/feedback.
Thanks

Well nabby all I can tell you is that you made a good choice by staying away from Comforpedic by Simmons. I believe Simmons purchased this mattress design from a company in Fife, Wash. approximatly 2 years ago. I bought a queen size mattress and foundation from the original manufacturer in Fife in March of '06. In the first year and a half, since the foam had broken down so badly, I had the mattress replaced 2 times and the foundation one time. By the 3rd time it needed replacing, Simmons had taken over and luckily honored any warrantees. They replaced the mattress and set me up with a newly designed foundation. I am currently waiting for Simmons to warrantee my Comforpedic mattress for the 4th time since I bought it in march of '06. So far they have been good about replacement, we'll see what happens this time. I wish I could just get...
