Re: New and overwhelmed - sandman

Here is the basic thing to be aware of. Almost any non latex comfort foam will sag over time, sometimes fairly quickly. High density memory foam (like tempurpedic) can hold up pretty , but it is softer than most latex. So, using too much memory foam can be a problem for some people who need a firm mattress. Also, firm higher density base foams (not the comfort layer) can be okay.
Almost everything that says pillowtop has some of the cheap foam that will sag. So, unless you know exactly what the foam is, I would be leery (like the "supersoft luxury foam" is the mattress you describe).
So, if you want coils, it is best to have latex on top of the coils for comfort. Almost anything else will end up being a problem.
It is best to get the exact specs off all of the foam...
Re: Gutting a Beautyrest Black mattress - help with latex surgery - sandman

Hi, I did surgery on an interlaced coil Sealy. I have 2" if 32 latex, 1" of 24, 1" of 19, and 1" of memory foam. That is fairly comfortable for side sleeping.
I just cover it with a mattress pad. You may be able to keep the top fastened on one or more sides and sew or reattach it some how after you put in new foam.
One problem with the pocket could is that they may shift around more.
Of course the foam you use will depend on how firm you want it and how firm the coils are.
Good luck!

Hi.. I had a wonderful Latex springfree by Sealy.. however the thing bowed across the middle after only 1 1/2 years.. I couldn't find it again as nobody told me they are now being made by Stearns & Foster.. but it was too late.. ended up going with a high end memory foam.. omg.. a nightmare for my body.. so much pain etc. and the pain really came when there was nothing for me to exhchange out to at the store I purchased it.. all the beds were so cheap.. so I simply put it in my guest room.. so then I had to search again and finally came to the conculsion to just not look at all the expensive and to go back to a decent coil.. found a reputable Mattress Company and did buy a 1000 yes that's right 1000 dollar mattress from Restonic..not a well known name but...
Re: New Sealy Posturpedic causing back pain - crock

If you are already "hammocking" in bed, any topper you buy will just make it worse. I your lower back is hurting you first have to determine if your mattress is too stiff, or not supportive enough. If it is too stiff your hips will cock at an angle to let you midriff touch the mattress. If you don't have enough support your butt sinks lower and your whole spine takes a curve. Have somebody look at your back while resting on your side. Your shoulders and hips should be square to the bed and your spine at your butt almost level with the spine at your shoulder. Once you find mattresses that are close to that ideal, choose the most comfortable one. The most common mistake is that people find a soft mattress that lets their hips sink too far. This feels comfortable for a short time but causes...
Re: Problems with new Sealy Memory Foam Mattress and moisture condensation underneath - Talonted

I am glad to have found this forum as reading through the posts we are not the only one with the problem of the mold. We have found that our Sealy Memory Foam mattress not to be the best on our backs. After saving for a new mattress we were ready to change. The Sealy we had looked brand new no stains etc., but when we lifted it up to take it out there was black mold spots all over top of box springs, underneath mattress and also found it on bed skirt! I was freaking out as I have dogs that sleep in the room with us and am worried for them. Now I'm worried about the carpet and the bedding that had been used on the one we just took off. Can I just use the sanitizer on my washer for sheets and comforter or do I need...

The original post was quite a while ago, but hopefully someone else can confirm or deny this:
I gather that the condensation and subsequent mold/mildew was viewable to the naked eye (post(s) describe spots or a spot of a color).
But what if the memory foam wreaks of mildew but can not be seen at all?

A little over 2 years ago my wife and I replaced our (nearly) 20-year old Sealy Posturepedic mattress with a new Posturepedic. We never thought that would be the beginning of a nightmare. Who would ever expect that the new mattresses would sleep so hot compared to the old ones? After making a dozen calls to stores, manufacturers, manufacturers reps and after reading on-line blogs, we learned that quite a few people are running into this problem since the recent changes in the fire retardation laws promoted changes to the mattreses, themselves. Ours was NOT a foam mattress, but an innerspring pillowtop, with an imbedded thin layer of foam -- but it wasn't located anywhere near the top of the mattress. For the 3 weeks we had that mattress, I could not sleep for more than 3 hours before I had to get out of bed and let the matttress cool...

*Allergies (I never had this issue until surgeons removed my tonsils and adenoids to try and get rid of my sleep apnea. It did not work, but it did succeed in giving me bad allergies. End result, i have to spit mucus every few minutes. Very disruptive to...
Re: Serta Hamilton Park from Big Lots vs Vera Wang - momommius

We bought the set from Big Lots last week. It's been great so far. And as far as breakdown, or sagging down the road, we read the matress guarantee. It's 10 years of coverage for everything except cosmetic. We put a waterproof matress cover on the bed and another matress topper to protect it from any cosmetic damage. If anything goes wrong with the matress now, we simply contact Serta and they either repair or replace the matress. If they replace it, they promise to replace it with the same model or the newest model. We looked at Sealy matresses and other matresses after we got rid of our Sleep Number bed, and Sealy's guarantee along with Big Lots price made it an easy decision for us....
Has anyone flipped a non-flip eurotop? - vijeb
Nov 18, 2012 6:53 AM
Hi,
Have any of you flipped your eurotop innerspring mattress? I am sick of the hills and dales of our 2-year-old eurotop sealy. Can we flip it and use a topper, or would it be desperately uncomfortable? I can't find any information on how the mattresses are constructed.
Thanks in advance.
p.s. Husband won't let me open the eurotop and remove the foam layers. He's afraid that would make the mattress even worse?
