Well, from what i've read, most "powdered" latex gloves are powdered with cornstarch. So I do not see how this could or would increase the release of latex dust particles....

Thank you, though, Budgy! Your posts are always informative and you are a tremendous asset to this forum.

We are interested in the truth here, indeed!

Apparently I have heard that the powder they give off will absorb some of the protein from the gloves which is why they recommend not using powdered gloves now. Im not even sure why they are powdered to begin with and what advantage that has.

It seems that the "expanded foam" mattresses, latex or

companies selling them.

I've consulted with a few clients and we have found that

Phoebe2011,

Firstly, you may get more responses if you post your question in a new topic thread, rather than under this current, unrelated thread topic.  Nevertheless, I'll provide my 2 cents here and we'll see if others chime in...

Wow - 47 years is quite a run for a mattress!

Many folks on this forum have purchased their latex mattresses through online vendors.  Both www.sleepez.com and www.flobeds.com sell all natural latex mattresses in a variety of configurations, and both have received largely positive reviews on this site. Both vendors also offer "layer exchanges", as well as a 90 - 100 day full money back guarantees, which provides peace of mind if you decide you don't like the mattress within the first few months and want to return it. Even if you decide to purchase a mattress online, however, it's generally advised to test a few latex...

Long post about my bedding tribulations and final relief through our purchase from Custom Sleep Design - Trigger

I spent weeks reading through posts on the 'what's the best mattress forum' as well as any other websites I could before I took the plunge to buy our new bed.  Furthermore, I've had our new bed for a few months, so I think that the 'new purchase glow' has worn off enough to allow me to give a balanced review of our new bed.  I thought I'd put the review here as well as in the review section in case there are questions or anyone wants to enter into dialog.

First a quick history:

I'm a woman in my mid. thirties who has had chronic pain issues that have been worsening significantly for the last few years.  Aside from a bad choice of bed, I may just have a  predisposition exacerbated by a couple of MVA's, and postural issues....

Please help us decide which latex mattress would be best for us! - Phoebe2011

We are currently sleeping on a king size, 4 inch, B F Goodrich, TexFoam, 100% Rubber Latex Foam, Extra Firm mattress, which is 47 years old. The label states that is is 31 - 37 lbs. Certified Compression. We bought that mattress because I was having back problems. My husband made the platform for the mattress from plywood.  There has been no distortion in the mattress we currently own, though it is starting to dry out and get hard on the edges. Also we are in our 70's now and have a bit of pressure discomfort. My husband raised the head of the bed about 3 1/2 inches with plywood to help my acid reflux. The ticking on the cover slides down, which is not only annoying, we are concerned that it will wear out.

You should have headed over to McRoskey while you were in Palo Alto.  Their $3900 spring+wool+latex mattress was the absolute best mattress I test drove.  I tried latex mattresses in the bay area and I too was intresested in the Eco-Cloud.  But when I went into the store, the salesman couldn't be bothered with me even after I asked a couple of questions.  I felt like I must have had cooties and and walked out after laying on a couple of mattresses that had no prices and decsriptions like "medium" or "soft".  I was very disappointed and I took my business elsewhere.  Every other store I went into the sales people were very helpful and answered all of my questions and in fact seemed pretty knowledgeable and I felt like they wanted my business.

Mattress shopping is deceptive; many people on this forum spent lots of time test driving...

I visited that store in Palo Alto.  The salesman didn't get up to help me and when I asked if they had all latex mattresses, he muttered about those mattresses there they have prices.  I found no description of what the mattresses were other than "firm", some with prices.  Even after I started trying them out and poking at the covered, he didn't bother to help me.  I walked out.  There are other stores in that area that sell latex mattresses (these are the ones I visisted and there are probably more in SF but I hate trying to park in SF and public transpo is too slow and I didn't look closely in East Bay as I live in South Bay). Reclaim Home in Menlo Park has Savvy Rest and you can try all the combinations.  Earthsake in Berkeley has latex mattresses (all organic) prices weren't too bad and...

Just wanted to report here what I found out when I talked with LatexMattressShop today.  I spoke with a guy who was very helpful and seemed very knoweldgeable as well.

On the 6" core, they build these with either 38 or 32 ILD natural Dunlop.

The next 2" is customized to the purchaser based on their prefernces and can be Talalay or Dunlop.  The Talalay is Talatech from LI (their blended Talalay product) and can be chosen in 19, 24 or 28 ILD's.  If you go with a 28 ILD that could also be chosen as Dunlop.  He basically admitted that the 7 zone sleep system is more marketing than anything.  There is a 7 zone topper out there made from Dunlop by Latexco (http://store.mattresses.net/3-inch-latex-mattress-topper.html ), so I'm thinking if you go with Dunlop you might get this type layer.  I did not confirm that...
