My impression is that the Sleep Science is described as firm and Spring Air is their version of a softer feel or more plush feel mattress with Latex. Maybe someone here on the forum can comment if that is not correct.
We have last year's version of the Costco Spring Air latex mattress with the soy-based layer. I've been very happy with this bed. It is fine as is, but I already had a convoluted latex topper (enclosed in a wool and cotton cover) so we have that on top of the mattress for a plusher feel.
YMMV.

But it was sagging and we were both hating it :( Thanks to this board we finally got the courage to just peek inside <a href="http://s163.photobucket.com/albums/t296/stacytr/?action=view&current=mattress1stcut.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t296/stacytr/mattress1stcut.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Holy cow what are we thinking -- this was an expensive mattress! <a href="http://s163.photobucket.com/albums/t296/stacytr/?action=view&current=mattressapeekinside.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t296/stacytr/mattressapeekinside.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Here's what's under the hood <a href="http://s163.photobucket.com/albums/t296/stacytr/?action=view&current=mattresscrappylayers.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t296/stacytr/mattresscrappylayers.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

This is what was sewn/quilted into the cover <a href="http://s163.photobucket.com/albums/t296/stacytr/?action=view&current=mattresscrappyquiltedlayers.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t296/stacytr/mattresscrappyquiltedlayers.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> we just tossed this layer.
Here are the interior layers <a href="http://s163.photobucket.com/albums/t296/stacytr/?action=view&current=mattresslayers.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t296/stacytr/mattresslayers.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

says 'Ultimate Comfort ... you don't sink in' - fail. First thing I noticed is I sink a lot into the memory foam
says 'Superior Pressure Point Relief ... distributes weight to reduce tossing and turning' - fail. No it didn't. It didn't kick down much of the pushback coming from this latex mattress.
says 'Breathable comfort .... - never too warm, always just right' - Big fat fail. Folks, it was hot
The gel foam doens't magically whisk the heat away to nowhere. Where does the body heat go anyway? Is there any air flow system in the topper? Or in the top layer of a Novaform or iComfort? Is there any convoluted foam to give the heat channels to dissipate? No.

Sooooo, who is Sleep Science and should they be considered? They have what they are calling a pillowtop (which in a foam mattress seems redundant)
Hybrid Bliss
- Mattress top layer: 1” of proprietary 5 lb black diamond bamboo charcoal visco memory foam.
- Second layer: 1” of proprietary 5 lb slumber tech visco memory foam.
- Third layer: 2” of medium latex
- Bottom layer: 7” proprietary support tech base foam.
Or they have a Pillow top Ara:
- 13” pillow top mattress fits the dimensions of your bed
- Meets the...

I was wondering if one has any advantages over the other and what type and firmness of latex layers are used in this mattress?
Also are the costco latex mattresses still a good deal money wise -- given they don't have a 100% latex option anymore?
