Re: Hesitating : Beautyrest Cushion firm or Memoryworks Memory foam - Good_Sleep

Memory foam works is chinese made foam.  You can verify this by looking at the law label.  It's imported for Sealy.  Personally, I would stick with an Amercan made product.  Which would be the Simmons.

Did you lay on it before you bought it?  Will they allow you to exchange it?  These are important things to do prior to purchasing.  Sears  workers probably are not experts on mattress qualifying.

You could do what everyone always suggests here.  Buy the firmest mattress and add toppers to it.

Hi Shorty,

I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience. The first thing is to make sure your pain isn't being caused by something other than the mattress. Severe pain should be taken seriously: consider getting things checked out by a physician.

The second thing is to ensure your mattress is supported correctly. Check that the box-spring is oriented correctly and that there are no obvious sags in the mattress. If these things check out, read on...

My understanding is that the Sealy Optimum Cava has the plush pillowtop, then Gel memory foam/memory foam over the "opticore" beneath. It is rated as a "plush-firm" mattress, meaning that the pillowtop will be soft, but the foam will be more firm.

So, will the mattress soften up over time? Maybe, but just a little.

A high-quality plush pillowtop will...

Re: Problems with new Sealy Memory Foam Mattress and moisture condensation underneath - novosbed
May 10, 2013 3:06 PM
This problem primarilly affects foam mattresses and is caused by perspiration and poor ventillation under the mattress.

Almost everyone perspires constantly, and depending on temperature, much of this can happen at night. Some of this moisture goes into the mattress and, if ventillation below the mattress is good, it simply evaporates.

Poor ventillation (a waterproof boxspring, carpeted floor, plywood, etc.) is a different story. Moisture will pool between the mattress and the surface below, encouraging mould to grow. Darkness and bodyheat compound the problem. Air usually penetrates 10-12 inches into the mattress evaporating moisture around the edges and focusing the mould towards the center.

Unfortunately there is no effective way to clean a mattress after mould has appeared. Prevention is the best method:

  • Buy a mattress with corrugated airflow layers
  • Use a breathable boxspring

Hi,

I know you posted three years ago but I thought I would take a chance that you still come on here and I could ask some advice. I already posted on here 'Shorty' is the screen name. Long story short my husband and I received our new bed a Sealy pillow top bed on Saturday and it didn't feel as soft as we had layed on in the store. We were told it would take time to break in which we accepted. But first night on it and my back killed me and it's Tuesday and my back is worse than ever. No previous back problems but now my lower back is killing me, I feel depressed and sad and my mood is not good all to do with this new mattress and boxspring. We sadly didn't look at what our 15 year old bed was made...

My new bed (mattress) is giving me terrible lower back and hip pain, Help! - Shorty
May 14, 2013 8:50 AM
Hello!

My husband and I bought a new bed last week and it came on Saturday. We were very excited about the bed as when we layed on it at the store it was very comfy and we were happy straight away. When it arrived we didn't hesitate to have our old one taken away. We were not really unhappy with our old one but it was my husband before we were married so he had had it for about 15 years. We thought we would treat ourselvs to a new bed! When it was all set up and we layed on it it felt much firmer than in the store and we puzzled over this checked the lable and it was what it said on the order form. We slept on it that night and in the morning I was in terrible pain in...

New Sealy Brogan Queen Like Iron Door - HELP - Rover
May 27, 2013 1:06 AM
Two days ago, Sear's delivered a Sealy Brogan Queen mattress and the low-profile box spring. Needless to say, like an idiot we let them "haul off" the old set, which was 99.9% more comfortable than this nightmare  -  literally. Sleep can average less than 2 hours at a time; it feels like we're laying on the floor or an iron door. What is in these things? There can't be form; it's too thin - innerspring has always been best for our family but Sear's assurred us this would be wonderful.

I've since read only 3 companies make (and re-make!) mattressess - is that true? Help.

Sealy PosturepedicHybrid mattress - elizapt
May 28, 2013 11:18 AM
I've been shopping for a new mattress (mine is at least 12 yrs old). Thought about Sleep Number and Tempurpedic but what I think I've settled on is a Sealy Posturpedic Hybrid which is half titanium coils and half memory foam with the cooling gel. It is very comfy in the store. I've chosen the firm one because I don't like the ultra plush pillow top stuff, too soft, especially when sitting in bed to read. But the mattress seems like the best of both worlds to me.

Questions: Has anyone else bought one of these? They are brand new with 25 yr. guarantee of replacement with 3/4 " dent or more.

Also, both stores I have been too they tell me that I MUST buy a mattress cover (150.00) that will keep out spills, dust mites etc because without one the warranty...

Hi Shorty, I know exactly what your going through.  Had to replace my old mattress (which I never had a problem with).  Thought.... I'll buy one of those new you beaut cushion top mattresses (AH Beard) not soft, I think it was medium firmness.  Slept in it for about 1 or 2 weeks, then could hardly get out of bed.  The pain was sooooo bad.  I even turned it over and slept on the hard back of the mattress with some blankets on it.  That didnt work either.  They took it back and made it firmer.  Couple of months later the same pain came back.  I moved into my 12yo sons bed and he slept on my $2000.00 mattress.  My pain went away.  I slept on and off in my bed but the pain in my hip was terrible.  I bought a second hand sealy (firm) off ebay for $200.00 and sold my $2000 mattress for...

Hi everyone !

Ive been looking for a while for a new mattress, especially for my husband who sadly has back pain due to his work.

I've ended up with these 2 choices :

The Beautyrest recharge Innerspring firm :

Or

MemoryWorks Memory foam :

Now, I know these are two different types of mattress. But i cant figure out which one would be the best choice !

Can anyone give more info or advice ?

Thank you !

Celia
