I resonate with your question. Unfortunately I cannot help specifically, but I'll share what little I've been learning. I ran across an interesting article yesterday that provides atleast a relative understanding of how different mattress toppers might compare. see the following link: http://www.beddingcomponents.com/pdf/innersprings/softech-chart.pdf

I'm aware that most manufacturers evaluate warranty claims by how much change there is in the height of the bed where it has broken down the most. For foam type mattresses the standard threshold appears to be 3/4 of an inch of dip compared to a string held taught from the head of the bed to the toe. (I'm told they just use a short length of 3/4 in diameter PVC pipe.) For innerspring mattresses the standard is typically 1.5 inches.  Unfortunately however, the height to which the...

Hi Budgy.. I really appreciate your input!! I was looking at this company here in our city that carry natural organic beds. I haven't heard of this bed before.. I just googled where I could find it here, and it turns out this company carries that exact brand!  Its nice to know I can get a high quality bed and not worry about having issues with it. We really do actually want a pillow top, and were going to make our own.. however if we can actually get a high quality pillow top already made thats even better! Are you able to just buy toppers from Greensleep? Also, is it necessary to buy a box spring when we already have a bed with a wood slat base foundation? A side question, is there any benifit in having a heavier gauge coil...

yes Doreen, the mattress is 8.5" thick. what kind of foundation do you recommend for someone with all latex mattress and lower back pain?

Thanks Sall.

i considered zoning and read about it on this forum. but:

1. sleepEZ doesnt do zoning well - they offer a 7 zoned layer but told me not to get it, saying none of their customers like it.

2. Flobeds and Custom Sleep Design do zoning, but Flobeds was too expensive +sales tax since I'm in CA. CSD has interesting veritcal zoning system, but VERY high prices on their natural talalay, which is what i wanted (they push the blended), so i ruled these out..

also since the zoning also sounds even more complex to get right, i wanted to go with simple first to see if i can make that work....

Hello gals and guys,

I'm shopping for a new mattress and even though I think I read a ton, I decided to consult with the community before making final decision. I always trust actual folks lot more than I trust companies pushing their product.

We currently have spring mattress that was pretty expensive at the time we bought it (it was about 12 years ago I believe and we paid around $800 for it). It was good I suppose and it could still go for a while but I think it's time to make a change. It's become very heavy from all the dust accumlated in it (and who knows what else). I also have an upper back problem and I don't feel it's helping. I don't sleep...

Don't mean to pry or respond to your every post, but was that Shawn's recommendations for layers based on your heights, weights, etc...?

I don't know about bed frames, except I use a $110 Legget and Platt metal bed frame, and I have to shop for another foundation.

well, here's the thing.  I am about 170 lbs and 5'9", and an above knee amputee.   I sleep on my side, but because I don't have two legs, I struggle to turn...

Sleep Science Celeste / Vega? Comforpedic? (Memory Foam & Latex) - Dallasgirl

Hi again everyone!

I'm wondering if anyone knows if you can still get this mattress from Costco? Or where you might be able to get something like this with a decent return/exchange policy? It's the Sleep Science mattress with both memory foam and latex called either the Celeste or the Vega I believe?

I found it on this site: http://www.homeclick.com/sleep-science-cst-14ck-14-cal-king-memory-foam-mattress/p-422026.aspx but really dont know anything about this retailer.

About a year or more ago when all my back pain began, I laid on some of the Comforpedic beds (also combo of memory foam plus some latex) and really loved them in the store. But, they are nearly $2,500 for a king and in Dallas the only place I could really find them was Sleep Experts. They do allow a one time one year exchange, but no refund. You'd have to get a replacement from...

Green Sleep Mattresses - Skyline

Hello,

I had recently been looking to replace my twin mattress (had it for years..very saggy now) with a new one.  Initially I had been looking at getting a Simmons Beautyrest mattress as my brother has one and it seems very good (had for several years now and not sagging at all).  In doing my research into Simmons, as well as the other S brands, I had become very unhappy for several reasons.  It appears that new mattresses these days from S brands come with low quality foam boxing in the inner coil springs and are prone to early failure.  This was contrary to what a sales person had led me to believe.  The other thing that really got me was that all the names for the mattresses varied from retailer to retailer.  That to me was just low (but I'm sure you all know that).

I also am interested in duplicating Natura's "Eco-Haven."    At a major furniture store nearby the description they had on the price sheet for the eco-haven topper stated it was #32 ILD Talalay.   The six in latex mattress didn't have an ILD listed but it sure felt a lot like a 36ILD dupont I had just tried out at another store.     I really like this mattress but refuse to pay $3800 for it.

Tony,

Just want to give you a little heads up about Tempurpedic bed vs. my all latex bed.  It's been tough to discern this, but I've got the differences nailed down now.  The feel of each bed is totally different.  The all latex bed allows one to turn quite easily in it because it is so resilient and has an immediate springback nature.  But, that is also its disadavantage.  The center of the bed is a little more broken in than closer to the edge and that's normal because I think all mattresses break in more where you sleep the most.    The problem is when I roll more to the edge of the bed, the latex kinda sort of wants to push me back towards the center.   Yes, latex is very easy to turn on,...
