I found a Natura for $5,000 or more (queen size) from Sears. Wonder if I can get that 50% off on their sales?
I am impressed with some of their products. They do tell you what is in them, which I find refreshing!
Gardner mattresses click here look so fascinating. They have pocket coils, and some with latex on top. Some that have cotton batting only. Just make sure you don't get one with the "foam" in it. They will ship all over US, but what a fee that would be for me.
I, having once had very bad luck with a Simmons with pocket coils, have always been wary of them. For those of you who may have them, or Budgy, who knows about such things: Are pocket...

Is the model you purchased on the Gardner web page or is it a custom model just for you? The only ones with latex on top which they show are the "Ivory Plush Top" and the "Pocket coil". I tried both of those in the store and liked the plush top best. I don't think you can go wrong with a Gardner product.

I am not that familiar with pocket coil mattresses, but have read that they MIGHT breakdown a bit sooner than regular coils, In any event, I'm sure that whatever choice you make at Gardner Mattress, it will be a well made product and much better than any of the "S" brand mattresses. I think you are wise to avoid any PU foam and go with the latex. I had forgotten that their pocket coil mattress also had a top layer of latex. Good luck with your purchase and let us know how you like it after a while....

I also bought my last mattress from Gardner Mattress recently and know about their product line. I ended up with one of their latex mattresses, had to do an exchange, add a layer, etc. In hindsight, my 2nd choice was the Ivory plush top I believe you are talking about with the latex layer on top. YES, I would recommend that choice rather than the PU foam model. Since they custom build each mattress, you could even speak to the owner "Gardner Sisk" (He is usually around the Salem store) and ask for a slightly firmer layer of latex on top. Be careful though, you don't want it too firm either.
HINT....Gardner might even negotiate with you a little!

Leo3, I'm the guy who bought from Gardner Mattress. It's an old fashion New England company which still seems to pride itself on making a quality product. I'm sure there are other similar businesses around the country. I almost bought their "Ivory Plush" model which is the traditional hand tied spring mattress with a layer of latex on top. I don't think they use any PU foam. However, after I did a store test of their 100% latex mattresses, I was sold on latex. Sometimes I wish I had gone with the spring/latex model since I've had trouble getting the latex firmness where I want it. I ended up with "too firm" latex from Gardner (after 1 comfort exchange) which I chose to correct by adding a 3 inch "medium" topper from FoamSweetFoam. Seems fine now, so far.
Yeh, I guess shipping costs to other areas outside of...

Thanks, Folks.
I hope I haven't made a mistake. I did go and buy the inner spring (and actually, the coil count was 206!) with 2" of 19ILD talalay latex. I don't know...I don't think Gardner would make a bad mattress, but I do worry that the very low coil count will lump up. I can always change...it doesn't get dleivered for 3 weeks.
All their steel is made by that really good company - I for get the name, Legat something or other. VERY thick gauge inner springs, low count might = lumps. I'm a side sleeper who digs her elbows in while reading on stomach each night!
So tough to make the choice. THANKS for any additional advice you have....
Inner Spring vs Pocket Coil - lookingnow

Hi Folks,
I'm choosing a mattress at Gardner Mattress in Salem, MA...Just can't decide if I should go with an Inner Spring or a Pocket Coil. Both have 2" of latex on top, 3" felt too soft for me.
The Inner Spring is a very low coil count at 260 with very thick gauge. Will that lump up? Other problems?
I worry the pocket coil won't last as long, but at 125 lbs and only me in the bed, maybe I', wrong...maybe it's what's ON TOP that matters (latex).
Both have either no PU or very little PU, and they have a no-charge refund policy (30 day trial if I want to switch out).
I can't afford an all-latex, so I have to choose between these two. HELP! Thanks...

Hi Mark!
Hey, thanks for your replies. I went there again yesterday. They have inner spring mattresses that are handmade with thick gague steel and are flippable. They last a long time. But they are too firm for a side sleeper. They have one with 1" of PU but I don't want to get into PU again. I could ask them to make me one of these with latex which would be ultimate I think, but above my price range.
So I chose a pocket coil mattress with 2" of talaly latex. Like you said, it's really what's on top of the springs that matters. Of course it's not flippable. It's just soft enough for side sleeping and firm enough for stomach sleeping. I'm going there again tomorrow to lay on it again to be sure and buy it. I hope I made the...
Which mattress? - lookingnow

I went to Gardner mattress is Salem, MA and told them I was a stomach and side sleeper (equally). They suggested an inner-sping mattres (they're made without more than an inch of PU and are hand tied). The one they suggested was firm and felt good for stomach sleeping but there was another one there with 2" of latex which felt better on my side.
Im dealing with the typical Sleepy's mattress which has a huge crater in the entire mattress except the edges and I'm wondering if I get the Garnder mattress with the latex if that would break down too.
Should I start with the firmer Gardner mattress? Will it get softer which would be good? Or should I go with the one that feels better new - the one with the latex? I won't be performing "mattress surgery"...
