Re: What is the best foundation for latex mattress? - Lynn2006

Phoebe2011, I sprained my thumb that now I have tendinitis in my thumb and amazingly also in my elbow due to a fall on the ice a few months ago. My wrist is still swollen so now I am being forced to type with this thumb splint on making me make typo errors with no way to spell check them. I just copied and pasted this in an email to spell check it. But I can only do that after I post it it seems. When I fell on the ice on the sidewalk in front of my townhouse and tried my best to not fall on my back since that car accident in the year 2007 caused me herniated disks in my neck and back and I did not want them to be worse, I ended up falling on my hand and then my arm and somehow bent my thumb backwards. So now...

From your description, I would order either a FloBeds or sleepez mattress kit with the free trial period and buy only two laters split (so 4 layers that will make each side a twin latex core which is easy to move around being that you want a King bed). It seems like all XFirm ILD averaging 35 ILD would be good for you with a soft latex topper and you can put the firmer ILD average latex cores on the bottom. The latex cores inside the mattress cover cling together and there is no slippage. I really like the idea of a soft topper that is no more than 2" for both of you over two Xfirm latex cores.
I have a FloBed latex kit and I should have started out this firm and then I would have not had so many exchanges instead of listening to others...

Helpme, sorry for the confusion but I have tendinitis in my thumb and elbow from a fall on ice a few months ago so I am in pain (still swollen so I will be going for hand therapy) and trying my best to help.
I had bought a 100% manmade latex pillow thinking 100% latex meant natural. It was too firm and bothered my allergies so I gave it away. This is before I bought a latex bed. Hence, when I ordered the latex bed from FloBeds, I paid more for 100% nautural Talalay Latex to be sure my allergies would not be affected. But then I found out I really needed two Super Firm (44 to 47 ILD) latex cores on the bottom of the bed to make my bed as firm as I needed it after the car accident and that would mean I would have to buy...

You have 1047 posts! and have you found the ideal latex?
Just asking.
Yes, I am the "king of all nuts" here at the forum in a way because I have spent so much time experimenting with foams and DIY projects. It's been both a hobby and experimentation born out of necessity. My posts # is due to my having been here a long time more than posting often. Though admittedly I do go through spurts of posting often. I find the idea of creating my own mattress fascinating and this grew out of trying a number of other mattresses - including all latex and all foam, including Tempurpedic, and various "S Co" spring mattresses as well - and finding that none of...

I think we are going in circles.
here is my 2nd post:
Hmm Thanks. Sorry you are having trouble with csd dates.
I wonder how can it take them 5 weeks while flobeds and sleepez can deliver in the same week when you order?
But I am even more puzzled now.

1. How can Natural talalay be exactly say 28 ILd, 40 ILD because that cannot be if I have read about talalay ILDs correctly.

HelpMe, You asked me three questions and here are my answers:
Are you a side sleeper? YES (the correct pillow height for my neck and shoulder also was necessary fro me)
What is the ild of your soft topper? Brylane Homes said it was 24 ILD but I feel it is softer which is what I wanted. If I was taller and therefore heavier, 2" of a soft latex topper would have been better for me but I needed only 1" to sink in enough to feel the firmness underneath but still get some cushion for my pressure points.
Is there a difference in feeling of naturall Talalay latex and blended one? I could never handle manmade latex...
Re: How firm should i go with my latex mattress - serehya

Hello all,
I've been looking for a firm mattress for a few months now. At first I was only looking for innerspring mattresses, but couldn't find anything firm enough for me or my wife. We both like very firm with no sinking feeling. I would not say firm like sleeping on the floor, but close to it.
While at a 1-800-mattress store, we tried a latex mattress and liked it the most out of anything we tried. The mattress was Sleep Options Classic Sleep Destiny 8-inch Firm Latex Foam Mattress. It felt firm enough, although both of us would've preffered a bit more firmness.
So, i came to this site to research on latex, chose SleepEZ based on reviews and prices being below Flobeds.

TheLTFM - Answer theses questions: What is your budget? How many sources have you narrowed your search to? Which source is at the top of the list? Why? Which source is at the bottom? Why? Have you decided on a configuration you like? What is keeping you from ordering right now?
I'll say this about my experience in mattress hunting: Quickly after I found this site, I knew building my own mattress was my best option. I've learned that buying a mattress which I couldn't alter the layers would be risky for me. My choices were strickend by my small budget, so FBM caught my eye quickly. I read the negative reviews they had and determined most of them were related to cosmetics and the other negative comments were also made against the...
