It's not that memory foam changes during the night and keeps sinking down like some claim. You can know in the store if the mattress is too soft.
the effects too soft mattress are subtle. It took a few weeks...

2) Not sure why you guys just don't want memory foam. Sleeping too warm is a complete non-issue on my 60 day old TP Cloud. In September, there were a bunch of nights where room was 80 F. It was a little warm, but I did ok. If the room is 65 F to high 70's, it's still great. They have single or dual air flow 'systems' which seem to work fine for me. TP Cloud is best mattress for me in 5 mattresses I had in house this year (Select Sleep, Stearns and Foster, iComfort, SleepEZ and now TP).

- (this is not that point, it is just a story) I know a guy who made the claim that where he slept, had a pocket that did not come from "conditioning" (or lack of it) but was a definite bubble where his back was. He ended up getting a replacement (he had the Rhapsody for 2-1/2 years). There was no visible impression when not in the bed, but they ended up with an inspector making the determination that this guy's claim was correct.
- I tell customers about how to condition a mattress (any) to make it feel more like the one in the store...

I have been in the mattress industry about 5 years and like some of my colleagues (definitely not all) I find much more joy in having fewer exchanges and a greater number of phone calls from my clients 2-3 months after purchase saying, "I really am sleeping so much better! Thank-you!" To get to this point in my Sleep Consultant career, here is my method (which you should expect to take you 45 - 90 minutes depending on your needs, issues, differences of opinion between you and your partner, finances, etc.
- Triple Choice - Most mainstream stores set up beds in three's. A Firm, a Soft or Medium and a Pillow-Top. Finding which of these three you like best will help you eliminate 2/3 of the...

Studio - 713 Coils
Classic - 800 Coils
Anniversary - 850 Coils
World Class - 1000 Coils
Based on the coil counts (within THAT particular brand) I would direct my heavier customer to the Anniversary or the World Class depending on how they slept. The baisc idea is that the more coils (again, within the same brand or line) will provide more support because each coil has to work less due to the extra coils: i.e. if you fall down the steps, do you want 10 hands reaching out to catch you or 20 hands? I also used to sell Select Comfort and will attest (even though I had more warranty problems than...

I just got my Tempurpedic Contour (Standards, not Select or Signature) two weeks ago and the mattress is soft like a sponge in the morning. My back hurts more every day.
Seems that my body temperature is making the mattress so soft that it is sagging in like an old worn out coil mattress in the morning.
I always felt comfortable with my friends' Contour Select, but never slept the whole night on it. Also my friend is 130lbs, I am 200lbs.
This is supposed to be the firmest Tempurpedic, correct? Has anybody got a similar experience and solved it with a mattress cover that insulates the mattress?
When I go to bed at night it is fine - it just gets softer and softer during the night.
Thanks

In summary, here are the issues I've experienced--and according to the many reviews I've read--so have a lot of other Sleep Number buyers:
1. "Mattress" does NOT re-gain it's shape once you get up; even if you diligently inflate it every day--which is what they suggest...

I've never had back problems in my life, and I slept on a Sealy Posturpedic Ultra Firm mattress for nearly 20 years! The same mattress. Never a back problem.
So I quickly took advantage of the retailers comfort exchange and swapped for their firmest, the Contour Select. I couldn't reasonably opt out of Tempurpedic b/c
I had stupidly bought the mattress with a non-refundable Tempurpedic adjustable frame (and quite frankly, it's silly to use that frame with a spring mattress.) So the Contour has been much firmer, but hotter. And now that I'm one month into it....backaches. Again. Now it's mid-upper back, in lieu of the lower back pain I had from the Rhapsody.
