Google Sleepeze, it shows their retail address, in Arizona.  They have a store.  They also make spring mattresses.  Gardner also makes their own mattresses, and I believe Sleepeze makes flippable mattresses still.  Call and ask them.  Doesn't Gardner makes mattresses to a customers specifications?  Or am I confused with another mattress maker.

Re: New member... question about "solid" non-stacker mattresses from Habitat and SleepEZ - markbnh1

Kimberly is correct (as usual!).  I would also recommend that you go with an online dealer for a latex bed.   I bought my 100% finished latex bed from a very reputable local mfg company (Gardner Mattress in Salem, MA).   The first bed was a "medium" firmness model which felt great in the store but I found that I bottomed out on it while sleeping.   I'm about 245 lbs and the mattress was 8.5 inches thick.  I used my comfort exchange for a "firm" model and the owner made sure I didn't bottom out this time.....the bed felt like a rock to me!  So after spending over $2000 already, I was forced to order another 3 inch medium firm topper from an online company for $400.   It's very comfortable now that I have almost 12 inches of latex with a medium layer on top.    As Kimberly...

Yes, thanks so much for posting the photos!   I was especially interested to see what the "ready to assemble" foundation looked like.  Actually, I'm impressed with how nice it looks.  One of the reasons I bought my latex mattress from Gardner Mattress locally was that I was afraid of what the internet company foundations would be like.  My Gardner foundation is VERY sturdy with metal and wood construction.  BUT, I'm sure it doesn't breathe as well as those wood slats.

With regard to the firmness, I agree that you should give it a few nights trial.   However, based on your size I think you will prefer a firmer layer on top....JUST my opinion.   I'm a big guy with no major back issues and right now I'm sleeping on M/F/XF/XF.   The medium layer on top (3 inch natural talalay)  is more that enough softness for me and I still sink down...

Hi Leo3,

I don't know what ILD the latex is but it's hard!  It's a very well-made bed by Gardner mattress of Salem, MA and I know it's talalay.

I like the feel of memory foam because it allows my shoulder and arm to sink in while side-sleeping.

Thank you.

Well hey there, Jim...I don't know the gauge, but it had to be close to as low as you can get.  I only know they were made by Legat. Very low count.  But one thing i realized is that I don't weigh much so maybe I couldn't get the springs to move at all, I was sort of just lying on top of them (ouch!)  It was this one:

But I tell you, I got the pocket coil with nothing but 2" of latex (here it is here), and I'm in HEAVEN!  Also Legat steel, not overseas-made.  I have faith that the coils will hold up for me - I'm only 125 lbs and I think without the PU it will be fine.

These people wsitched it out in 48 hours with no hassle, no cost, drove 45 min to...

Should I switch my new mattress out? - lookingnow

I bought this mattress from an excellent local manufacturer and have slept on it for 3 nights.  The coils are very thick and have 2" of talalay latex on top (see other layers also in the link.)  Will this bed soften up?  It's too hard/firm right now. Also, there is a layer of "polyester".  Bad?

http://gardnermattress.com/ivoryquilted.html

Based on things Budgy has said about pocket coils taking a bad rap these days because of all the imported lousy ones, I'm wondering if I should switch to the below pocket coil  because all their metal is from Legat.  I'm 130 lbs and a stomach and side sleeper.  My current (above) mattress is nice and firm for my stomach sleeping and I love that it probably won't hammock (I can't deal with that again!!) but is a little too firm for my side sleeping.  Should I stick with what I have and hope it softens a little...

Hi Again mark,

yes - it's the Ivory Plush Top!  I do remember you saying that's the one you liked.  Here's a VERY cool link to the exact insides of it.  I do hope it holds up and doesn't get lumpy, even w/the low coil ount - but as you say, anything from them should be very good.

I have found a number of small factories with 2 sided mattresses. one right in Brooklyn. but they mostly do not use great coil systems. on another thread a poster just bought a gardner but the coil count was 260. most are around 300 from what I can see.and they are all, so far at least, bonnell. which is not what I want to build on. I could try it on a simmons system, but they have had failure problems and I don;t know if it would hold up.

Re: Replacing my 1994 Simmons Maxipedic "Concorde" open coil mattress - ubercool

Thanks so much for your feedback. I don't really feel like spending thousands of dollars for a Hypnos or Vi-Spring mattress, so I'm going to go with the Sealy Posturepedic Alanson ($400) at Costco. If it ever turns out to be defective, I can always return it to Costo for replacement or refund.

It's amazing that the only high-quality, innerspring mattresses that I could find, at what I assume to be a reasonable (read: not $5,000), mattress was from Gardner.

Thanks again. :)
