Thanks Sall.
i considered zoning and read about it on this forum. but:
1. sleepEZ doesnt do zoning well - they offer a 7 zoned layer but told me not to get it, saying none of their customers like it.
2. Flobeds and Custom Sleep Design do zoning, but Flobeds was too expensive +sales tax since I'm in CA. CSD has interesting veritcal zoning system, but VERY high prices on their natural talalay, which is what i wanted (they push the blended), so i ruled these out..
also since the zoning also sounds even more complex to get right, i wanted to go with simple first to see if i can make that work....

I spent weeks reading through posts on the 'what's the best mattress forum' as well as any other websites I could before I took the plunge to buy our new bed. Furthermore, I've had our new bed for a few months, so I think that the 'new purchase glow' has worn off enough to allow me to give a balanced review of our new bed. I thought I'd put the review here as well as in the review section in case there are questions or anyone wants to enter into dialog.
First a quick history:
I'm a woman in my mid. thirties who has had chronic pain issues that have been worsening significantly for the last few years. Aside from a bad choice of bed, I may just have a predisposition exacerbated by a couple of MVA's, and postural issues....

Here is what we ordered:
Latex: 6" 36 ILD core + 2" 32 ILD mid-core + 2" 20 ILD topper (all 100% natural talalay), upgrade to 10" Terry cloth cover, at a cost of $1,216 total with free shipping.
Foundation: http://www.amazon.com/Thick-Foundation-memory-latex-mattresses/dp/B002RVCSRI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1305859732&sr=8-3 $229 with free shipping. I added 4 more slats to this to bring the spacing from 3.75" to 2". Cost at Home Depot was around $10.
Pad/Protector/Topper: undecided at this point
For background on how we got to this point, see my thread here: http://www.whatsthebest-mattress.com/forum/advice-needed-my-diy-all-latex-project/19004-A-1.html
So, here are the pics:

I'm moving into my new house in about 2 weeks. I will let this forum know my findings after sleeping on the mattress for a few nights.
Thanks again for all the advices!

Here in SF Bay Area, Natural Mattress Stores has 3 stores with organic / latex beds. Told me they use Dunlop cores / talalay tops in their 'Awareness' line.
that video is interesting.
I would think it is most important to get good quality latex from the best suppliers which apparently are LI, Latexco, Latex Green, etc...

I'm pretty sold on the idea of getting a latex mattress. I like the naturalness, and I like the ideas of swapping out pieces. My husband and I did stop at Savvyrest, during a trip down south in June, and I liked their product, but not the fact that we cannot get a refund, plus their prices are higher than some.
I think that I need a pretty firm mattress, while my husband did seem to like the softer ones when we stopped at Savvy Rest.
Basically, we seem to be gravitating towards the suggestions on this forum like sleepez and mattress.net, though I do like the flexibility of sleepez vs mattress.net.
I did want to ask about this clip I just saw...
