Re: Miralux vs Stearns & Foster - Kait

I don't know anything about Miralux, but S and F is owned by Sealy, and they put lots of CHEAP P/U foam in their mattresses which wears out quickly.  Then you are left with holes where your heavier parts are, or a ridge in the center of the bed where you don't sleep.  I bought an $1800 mattress/box spring by S&F which developed a "butt-dent"  in just a couple of months, making a semi-comfortable bed(I purchased one that had as little foam in it as possible..it was pretty firm)horribly uncomfortable.  I slept on it at all angles, trying to save my back from aching...sideways, center, diagonal...finally was sleeping on just the outside perimeter of the bed where the extra firm foam is located for edge support.  It sucked.  They sent out an inspector when I called about this being a warranty issue, who turned out to be a complete dufus,...

I just spoke to Omaha bedding Company, and it turns out that they DO have a showroom...So, you should go and try out the mattresses! Also, the salespeople are very knowledgeable--i just spoke with one--over the phone.

Now if i could just get to Omaha... ;) ...

problem is, now i feel hesitant about buying a bed from Omaha because i can't try it out again (loved it so much a year and a half ago, but that was before my INSANE sensitivity to partner's movements!). I wonder if the Four Seasons' hotel would let me test it out for a few minutes (because i surely can't fork over $400+ to sleep on it for a full night!)? Then again, i don't live close to any Four Seasons hotels, so i'd have to travel to get to one....*sigh*!...

As you may have seen in my post, i slept in an OBC bed last year, and absolutely loved it. However, i can't recall if there was NO motion transfer, or a little. Maybe you could do a little sleuthing for me when you go! The mattress that was so great was a T446 (king-size)...Maybe you can check it out, and save me a visit to Omaha! ;) I don't know much about the other mattresses you mention. Thanks!...
Re: Returning my Flobed - BobJ

I'm still waiting for the Stearns & Foster from Sears.  They were supposed to deliver last Friday but someone made an error.  It is now coming this week on Friday.  I had a message on my phone tonight confirming delivery.  They actually have a 30 day return policy where you can get your money back.  I was planning to have them take the memory foam mattress away but will keep it in the garage just in case.  I found a couple of places where I can donate it and they come and pick it up - I think this will be good for all in the end.

The FloBed people have been nice enough but you have to work to get your money back from them.  I've sent back 2 sets of cores.  They told me up to 3 weeks to see a credit on the credit card.  After returning the...

Leo3 - The bed may work better without the convoluted topper.  When it arrived, they actually made an error and did not send the topper so I slept a few nights without it.  I can say that it was firmer but it was winter here and the bed was freezing.  The topper makes a huge difference on warmth.  So, even though it is more firm without the topper, I don't think I could tolerate it in winter.  I actually ended up purchasing a Stearns and Foster conventional mattress and box spring set from Sears.  It was 50% off for a firm and what really sold me was that I can return it and get my money refunded if I am not happy.  I think this bed will work.  If it doesn't I'll consider Imjay's water bed suggestion....

No, not on the Stearns and Foster now - sent it back.  Long story.

What we're sleeping on now - is a stop-gap measure:  a better-than-average hide-a-bed mattress on the floor, over an old 3-inch foam pad (foam pad on the bottom).  It looks ridiculous because it's surrounded by the king size wood frame, footboard, and headboard. Obviously we're sleeping much closer together than usual!  No room to spread out.

My DH has joked that we went from climbing "up" onto our bed to now climbing "down" to get to our bed.  I retorted that - hey - it's Job One to keep his life exciting and he'll just never know what to expect! :)  Fortunately, I think he can sleep on just about any mattress.

So - now waiting for the convoluted latex mattress topper to arrive.  We have an old, fairly firm mattress and box springs set downstairs that we can...

Thank you for replying!

I do not yet have the convoluted latex mattress topper - but I am going to try it.  I am hoping - hoping - hoping that it will sleep "cool" and not generate the "hot spots" which are caused by heat being reflected back to my shoulders and back.

As for your question - I'm sorry I don't remember where I found the 100% cotton mattress pad.  Probably online - I checked to make sure there was no polyester in it.  As I recall is was not cheap.  Sorry that I can't remember more than that, but if you Google 100% cotton mattress pad you'll see some listings.

I have tried the following:

...cheap foam mattress pad
...3-inch eggshell mattress topper
...memory foam mattress topper from Costco
...Wool-filled 3-inch mattress topper
...Tempur-pedic mattress
...Serta bed from Great Indoors (this was GREAT but sagged after 18 months)
...Stearns & Foster  (most expensive and felt the worst...
FBM ILD 20 not working out. Need advice on what to try next please! - eb53
May 25, 2009 9:28 AM
My wife and I have been sleeping on 3" 20 ILD topper from FBM on top of a too-firm Stearns and Foster spring mattress for 3 weeks now.  It works fine for her (5'6", 125 lbs) but I often wake up stiff and sometimes have trouble sleeping due to pressure points, though I have had a few nights of excellent and comfortable slelep (I'm 5'10", 150lbs).  I'm a side sleeper with sacroiliac pain.  This topper seems more medium than soft in feel and I've put a cushioned mattress pad on top of it to try softening it up.  I've also tried putting a fiber-filled pad over the latext in addition or in place of cushioned mattress pad, but that doesn't provide enough back support.  I have only 5 days left before my 30 day trial period expires, so  I need to make a decision on whether to return it, which...
Knowledge on Stearns & Foster Cove Haven, SleepEz Euro Pillowtop, Omaha Bedding Company - stepman

I'm in the market for a new bed setup.  I went to the big box furniture retailer and liked the feel of the Stearns & Foster Cove Haven, which has 7 inches of latex, I believe on top of some coils.  I cannot find any research on that specific model but have decided against any Stearns & Foster because of reviews generally complaining of sagging  on all teir products in fairly short order.  I've read great reviews on the SleepEz latex system but I think I'd prefer either 3-5 inches of latex on top or a pillowtop.  Because the the good reviews on quality for SleepEz, I thought I'd inquire about the innerspring model with latex on top and that led me to the Euro Pillowtop.  Anyone have any experience with that bed or can recommend an alternative with the feel of the Stearns & Foster but with better durability. ...
