xyz1ab, I got curious about the mattress that you said the prior poster was misleading on the retail price so I did a search and I found this link that has the price ranging from $699 on sale to $2,559 not on sale for a King mattress set at US-Mattress.com. I know nothing about the company. I was only looking up prices.
http://www.us-mattress.com/simmons-comforpedic.html
http://www.amazon.com/Simmons-Comforpedic-Skylights-California-Mattress/dp/B003FVTBA6 Ranges on AMazon.com from $779.00 to $1,249.00 depending on the size and the mattress set chosen for teh Simmons Comforpedic collection.
I know nothing about this mattress but it looks like it used memory foam. I am just taking a break after clients left and I visited this forum to see if anyone needed any of my input where I always try to be honest.

If they're willing to trade up, why not trade up to something else? Most Sealys have a side - to - side connected coil pattern which leads to a lot of transfer of motion and not very good support imho.
I'd trade up to a Stearns and Foster pocket coil or Dunlop latex model, or a Simmons high end, or ??? something other than Sealy. S&F is made by Sealy but I'd take their pocket coils over a Sealy continuous spring design.

Ever hear of Summerhill and Bishchop by Ortho in Los Angeles? They say their pocket coils are double-tempered steel, higher gauge than Simmons and hand nested with high density foam along the edges creating a chamber within which the pocket coils are placed. Seems to me this might lend itself to mattress surgery but I'm not sure....

First time I have been in a mattress store for years. I walked in and there was no one there and I was able to talk to the mattress salesman for 15 min. or so while I laid on a few mattresses. Mostly I just went in to see what was selling these days because frankly, for me, laying on mattresses in a store does me no good. I can tell if they're too soft (most are) but other than that it's a waste of time. I have to spend several nights on a mattress before I can get a sense of how it supports or does not support my body.
What I found most interesting is that the sales man told me (not sure if it's true... maybe Budgy or another mattress insider can tell me) that almost all the Big S companies are switching over to...

I'm sorry, but I don't have time to read through all the linked threads to see what they cover. But the trend here is generally toward smaller regional mattress companies that make traditional 2-sided mattresses. Stay away from one-sided styles, all of the major "S brands," choose a mattress that is heavy gauge tempered springs like a 12ga wire or maybe as thin as 13ga or 13.5ga. Avoid the Simons pocket coils because they just have no durability and soften over time. Avoid mattresses with lots of foam padding built in, and steer toward sturdy mattresses that are 2-sided with minimal foam then use whatever toppers you like. The pillow tops, Euro tops, and other padded mattresses usually have probs with foam breaking down or mattress getting body indentations or the pillow top starts to go concave and roll people to the center. If you use toppers, then you just...

I just put together a latex bed and love it. In fact, we liked it so well we are building a second one for a vacation house, but I bought it in pieces and wound up with a 12" bed instead of 9" because I had to order another 3" piece to get the firmness right. I also got the top layer wrong--to soft--and was able to return it.
I am sorry you are having trouble, but some people just don't like latex. You might be better with an innerspring core.
Our second choice for the Simmons Comforpedic. I found it incredibly comfortable. They retail for close to $10K, but I found them on Ebay and from other sources for about $3200, including shipping for...

Serta Icomfort request for advice - firehawk343
Apr 10, 2011 4:51 PM
Greeting mattress experts and lurkers,
I am a once-a-decade mattress buyer in need of assistance. Can anyone provide input for the Serta Icomfort foam mattress line? Specifically, I'm interested in the Revolution model king size. My initial search led me towards the Tempurpdic Rhapsody. However, many reviews suggest Tempurpedic's sleep "hotter" than spring or other foam mattresses. My wife is furnace so I dare not bring a mattress home which amplifies that issue. So, my next focus was the Simmons ComforPedic. My wife laid on every model and said they were "too springy" compared to the Tempurpedic and the iComfort. So we are down to one option right now, the iComfort. What I'm asking for help with is advice and comparison. The iComfort line of Serta is very, very new and this is possibly why there is no data or opinions on the internet. My heart is not...

Thanks, I've started to look through the forum posts and reviews. I was also considering another Simmons beautyrest. I saw Macy's had a nice one on sale for $900 after all discounts which is a bit above our budget but I was hoping it might last and be worth the extra money... but after reading how the pocketed coils don't hold up I guess I'll pass on that. Also I've found out that memory foam isn't all that great in warmer weather as it'll make a person very warm.
We're currently sleeping on a Simmons Beautyrest 2-sided pillowtop we got in 97 and it has held up amazingly considering it's age.All I really want is another bed that will be as comfortable and hold up like it has but it's seeming like they just don't make them like they used to. I'll keep on reading reviews and forum...
