Hello all! I am glad I found this place before making my next mattress purchase. There's a ton of knowledge and experience here from what I've seen during my research over the past week. I was hoping to get some idea of what might currently be a similar mattress (innerspring) and box spring to our old one. We bought a Simmons Beautyrest "World Class Drucilla Extra Extra Firm" set from Sleepy's back in 2003. It has held up beautifully for almost 11 years. We just moved to a larger place and are planning to get a new bed for the master bedroom and leave the old Simmons in the guest bedroom. Still a lot of life left in it and plenty good for a guest room.

After educating myself a bit, thanks to this site,...

We have had the store rep out to determine whether or not we can unfortunately, return our new Simmons Recharge World Class Mount Laurel pillow top mattress after only six months.

Now that I am researching comparable mattresses in the same price range, I am more confused as ever. What will be soft like a pillow top, and not sag?

I looked and read the same exact problems with other brands. Any suggestions? comparable

Ggliard.  What did the rep say about the return?  How much did it sag?  The problem with the type of pillowtop mattresses you are looking at is that the top layers are made of materials that compress and stay compressed even after a short period of time.  Foams, latex and memory tend...

Re: Any Thoughts On Gardner Mattress (or Any Brand, Actually) Cotton/Wool Over Pocket Coil Mattress? - mattdud

Yes, Kirk was able to get me more information.  Interestingly, he personally dislikes latex mattresses as he finds them too hot.

There are differences with Gardner and other mattress manufactures in some respects. Yes, their quality is high given the money. He thinks manufacturers like Simmons have gone downhill in the last 15 years. He also acknowledges that manufacturers like ViSpring are on a whole other level of quality and they're not trying to compete. He mentions the amount of handwork in ViSpring mattresses in every aspect of the manufacturing, something that Gardner can't afford to do at their prices. Also, for the cotton/wool mattress, Gardner takes their standard pocket coil base, adds another 2" pocket coil layer, then adds two layers of cotton and one layer of wool. Some manufacturers such as Royal-Pedic might...

Re: Mattresses equivalent to Four Seasons Hotel's Stearns & Foster, Simmons beds? - MattressNerd

So I found a sheet that has the innards of the new Simmons version posted here: http://d1xejl9xcsndu9.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/signature-sleep-by-Four-Seasons.pdf

The Stearns and Foster lineup is older models, but most similar to their Estate collection.

The Simmons model appears to be completely custom, not like anything in their "Recharge" lineup. If a retailer has a step up above the recharge line, that would be most similar.

Re: New Mattress Too Hard - zimbo

Sambuca, the mattress I'm having a problem is also the Simmons Recharge. It seems way too firm compared to the floor model. I'm thinking about exchanging it but I'm not sure for what. Seems like they all have memory foam.

And although at the store they tell you that memory foam / gel sleeps cool, it's actually hot.

I have the exact same issue with a Simmons World Class Recharge "Mitzi" model that I have slept on for three plus weeks.  The demo at Mattress Firm was/is much more relaxed on the top of the mattress.  Our mattress seems too firm and ungiving compared to the store model.  I also think it runs a bit hot because of this.  I just stopped by the store today to confirm my initial reaction to the "Mitzi" mattress and I still love the feel of the store model.

Do I need to be patient because this Simmons model will eventually break-in and become less tight on top?

Or do I need to pull the trigger on a return/exchange?...

Shifman mattreses - SusanM

I wasn't aware that you can purchase a mattress directly from the shifman factory. I have been through so many mattresses in the last 5 years, and currently need another due to the sagging in our Simmons black beauty rest mattress. I went to Bloomingdale's and tried out the shifman mattresses and Although they felt very comfortable, I fear that what will be delivered to me will feel entirely different than what was on the showroom floor. This has happened with every mattress that I have ever purchased and their reasoning behind it is that they are broken in from customers trying them out, but I'm beginning to believe that the real reason is that the mattress companies are making separate quality mattresses for the showroom floors and leaving out y the Quality in What is being delivered to their customers.
