You will not find anything exactly like what you had years ago because all the mattress companies change their materials and springs every year or three and they just don't make them the same anymore.

Sealy is now using a titanium spring which is going to feel different than steel. They also are now using pocket coils in their latest midrange and higher end Posturepedics.

As to the Simmons problem I would recommend this:

Call the mattress store you last bought from and ask them for the number of their Simmons representative. If they won't give it to you call around to other stores. Someone will eventually give it to you, I think.

Once you have it be very nice and ask very nicely if he can help you figure it out. Have the info on your tag ready to give him...

Buying "scuff and mark" matresses for 60-70% off.. and getting up to 10 exchanges for $69 each! - shovel99

Hi folks.  While I am back to custom DIY mattress through mattress surgery with a breakthrough for lower back sufferers to report, I am here to share my experience with buying really cheap from deep discounters offering "scuff and dirt mark" mattresses that they buy from the retailers and sell really cheap.  In the range of 40-70% (60-70% off)  retail.

About two years ago I discovered a local ( one mile from my house, by chance!) mattress warehouse seller by looking on craigslist under queen mattress.  Look for them in your local craigslist.. and for those not familiar with craigslist, the web address for each locale is as follows:   www.yourcityhere.craigslist.com   You then enter "queen mattress" in the search bar and it will list the free advertisements that craigslist offers.

I bought and exchanged ten mattresses from one very nice warehouse mattress store owner before giving up. ...

OK, so we're back home, and have spent three nights on the new mattress. The name "Cloud" is a misnomer - to me, it feels more like sleeping on Play-Doh. I have been waking up a little stiff; but on the plus side, my vertebrae don't need to "pop" in the morning as with other mattresses. Also, I don't toss and turn as much. But I do not LOVE my new queen mattress... in fact I am having thoughts of sneaking back into the guest bedroom and cheating with the Sealy Posturepedic double mattress that we do both love.

The problem I'm having right now is that my husband seems to really hate the new bed but is too nice to come out and say it. This morning he reported that his lower back (small of his back) hurt. This...

Hi,

My name is Nick. This is my first post. I am quite grateful that there is a mattress forum.

I would like to ask, what is the difference between a Sealy Posturepedic Pillow Top and a Sealy Posturepedic Plush?

How would I know which one to get?

WHY IS MATTRESS BUYING PROCESS SO COMPLIACTED FOR MANY PEOPLE?...

Why do Mattress companies continue to sell JUNK after JUNK mattresses in USA?

Are we Americans that stupid that we continue to buy JUNK Year after year?

Complicated?   First of all, the industry makes it d*mned complicated, intentionally.  They pile layers of carp on there, and then make it very difficult for the consumer to decipher exactly what the product is or isn't.   Additionally, I set out to buy a REALLY GOOD mattress and box spring this time, and I found it complicated because the type of durable and well-constructed tradtional innerspring mattress that I want to buy is no longer the typical mass-produced and widely distributed item.    I can't go to any of the 4 stores in my...

If you go back to before the 1950's all mattress makers basicily made very firm mattresses, and many people put extra padding on top off their mattresses.  This was were the "Mattress Pad" idea came from.  People would use pads filled with feathers, down, combed wool, and other things i'm sure.

In the late fifties a few mattress makers began trying to make mattresses with softer comfort built in.  In the early seventies the Sealy Mattress Co in So. Calif .brought out a plush Posturepedic, and the big S's thought they were nuts - but sales took off! Then in the mid seventies Earl Kluft invented the Pillow Top mattress.  And are we wonderfully spoiled now!  We have so many comfort choices now we drive ourselves nuts!

If I may suggest - Don't panic yet!  Give your new mattress a little time.  It is a new...

Thoughts on the Sealy Embody, Allure and Temper-Pedic - Keyla

Can anyone provide me thoughts and/or feedback on the Sealy Embody Prophecy mattress (http://www.us-mattress.com/sealy-prophecy.html) and the Sealy Natural Care Allure (http://www.mattressfirm.com/Sealy-Posturepedic-Natural-Allure-Plush-P14.aspx)

I am 5 feet 3 inches 135 lbs and my husband is 6 foot and 190 lbs.

We need a new mattress but we are very limited in the houston area all the stores carry the "S" brands.  And we are ones not to buy without trying.  Also looking at the Temper-pedic Cloud but I am concerned with the odor.

Thanks!

Tempurpedic vs. traditional coil mattress - kalash

My wife and I have been using a Sealy Posturepedic for the last 8 years.  It is a Lighthouse Plush model, likely no longer produced.  I suppose they consider it "plush," which means between firm and medium, but maybe closer to firm (but not the firmest they make).  Anyway, I've been relatively happy with it, at least for the first 5 years or so . I have low back issues, and I prefer a supportive mattress.  Well, over the last 3 years, my back issues have worsened, and I've noticed that the mattress is less supportive.  The visible depression where we normally lie down isn't terribly noticeable, but when you lie down you can tell that the area where most of our weight is sinks down more than when it was new.  Also, when we lie close together, you get a sloping effect.

So I'm in the market...

Went to 5 different mattress places tonight, some good and some bad. Found 2 mattresses that we thought were very comfortable for reasonable prices. One Sealy (I know...) and one King Koil. The bad news is there is so little information on this stuff, I can't find reviews on either mattress.

The Sealy is "Sealy (Posturepedic?) Grassleaf Ultrafirm. Minimal padding on top, but has a foam border around the sides, blah blah. Supposedly has extra stiffeners in the center of the bed where we normally sleep. Price delivered was $520 for the mattress after tax. Not too sure I want to go back to another "S" brand, but this is definitely firmer than my beautyrest and is NOT pocked coils. This is the cheaper of the 2. Sales guy here was awesome, and actually listened to what we said. Also reiterated 10x...
