Re: Hammocking better with 2 twins on one frame than a King ?? - chelliep

I would get the Englander 100% Talalay or the Stearns and Foster or Sealy Soft Touch...Synthetic latex and I don't know what the edge

support on those would be.. We are going to look at mattresses today but in the meantime, I turned the mattress 1/2 way and have the

foot of the bed on the right side... at least the foot of the bed and the top of the bed aren't hammocked yet..  Wonder if that will be

more comfortable until I get another mattress.. Thanks for your opionon Diane..

I'm picturing electracat with big grin on her face while holding a chainsaw above the bed!   hahaha  devil

Here's what I was thinking...I am sick and tired of replacing mattresses every two years..  I am in the market for a new Eastern King latex.

Considering Englander all Talalay and Stearns and Foster or Sealy (aren't they made the same... owned by the same parent co?) Anyway..

when discussing hammocking with the owner of The Sleepe Shop chain in So Cal... he said that any king mattress on a frame with the

support in the middle will hammock.....

Remember my post where I told the story about a "long time big S manager" saying that they could hide a bicycle in a mattress and the average person would not know the difference.

For years, one of the old time scams, has been to get old mattresses and put new covers on them and sell them for new.

The principal and the primary reason that I purchased a bed today from FlowBeds was to be able to acquire a mattress where I knew exactly what was going into it, and had a great deal to say about what that something was. And if I don't like it within the first 90 days I can change it. Unzip the cover and switch it around to my heart's content. Zip the cover back on and...

Suggest you look at some of the highlighted threads at the top if you haven't, and the thread electracat mentioned which I think should be still here on the first page, or if not, the 2nd.

Basically it seems you have to pay upwards of $2500 to get a well built bed these days, from a private or smaller company, not an S Co.

But even then some have tried them and not liked them, and many of those better beds do not offer sleep trials or refunds so that is also a factor. If I was a millionaire I'd have tried most of them by now, no doubt... and maybe found a great one!

Meanwhile, until my ship comes in, I think buying a good set of springs and then trying to make it work with toppers is a good start; but if...

From looking at the S&F website and also at the Sealy website I discovered that the latex in both mattresses is Synthetic.  I also asked two mattress stores and they said the

two companies use the Synthetic latex.. The only latex mattress in Ventura county and the Los Angeles /San Fernando I can find in a made up mattress that you can test

out is Englander.. So, from research on the internet I see there is a dispute about the durability of Synthetic latex... I do not want any memory foam...so, I notice not too many\

I don't have experience with it, but our resident latex Expert,...

If your local company was the manufacturer of the bed, I'd ask if they can replace the foam in it!  If they were just the middleman and don't do that, then you are probably looking at good springs but the foam on top is shot.  That happens really quickly sometimes.  I had a Stearns and Foster that developed a dent inside of three months.  Anyway, my bet is that it is just the foam, and Jim has the best suggestions of what to do.

I personally buy my mattresses from a local maker so I can take it back for sprucing up if I get a dent.  Luckily, I'm on year two and okay so far!  Had to take my fluffy topper off because the foam inside finally broke in enough to sleep on comfortably, LOL!

Have a Tempurpedic Deluxe - Doesn't work for my Wife and I - Help me replace it! - mc4nam

I found this forum about a week ago. I wish I would have found it 4 years ago. Whatever bed I replace will be the 3rd bed we have purchased in 4 years!!

Here is my our bed History starting about 4 years ago: (All of these are King)

1. W Hotel Bed and Featherbed combo

http://www.whotelsthestore.com/item.asp?curr_item_id=26&cat_subcat_id=10

We bought this because the wife and I stayed at The W hotel and loved it and was told this was the combo used at their hotels.

(Plus, I found a 40% off coupon!)

The bad news after about 2 years it started sagging and only got worse! The featherbed was nice, but like others on here know, you have to fluff them up almost daily and that wasn't happening. We lived with this for about...

Re: Latex Bed Foundations - tmaslar

Yes I do have a foundation, but is a box spring with springs in it. I am under the impression that box springs with springs are not appropriate for latex mattresses.

My sales person checked with the Sealey, Stearns&Foster, Bassett Rep. He told her that they did not make any foundations with the slats 3" apart. He told her that they were all 12".

I wanted to go with Sealey, Stearns&Foster or Bassett because they use covers on all there mattresses and foundations that contain no fire retardants. They use a blend that contains kevlar and wool on their covers that does not require the use of fire retardants on the mattresses and foundations.   ...

The Intellicoil are individual pocketed coils and their are 600 of them in a queen set, The only way that coil unit will benefit you is if you weigh over 430 pounds! Thats how much pressure it takes to go thru all the padding and get down to the inner coil, I have sold Sterns and Foster and this is by far the most beautiful line up they have ever had but their also the worst value out their, If your looking to spend that type of money I would suggest a Simmons Black Lable, I have sold them both for years and I have found that the blacks hold up a lot better and are much more benificial to your health.

Sleep EZ 13000 on its way! - PLamarine
Apr 9, 2010 9:35 AM
After exhaustive research, and the most miserable couple of years on a Stearns and Foster "top of the line" innerspring mattress, last night I ordered a 13000 blended talalay mattress from Shawn at Sleep EZ.  What a positive experience so far.  He asked me more questions that I asked him.  He asked age, weight, height, sleep positions, feel preference, etc.  He ended up recommending we get the S/M/F/XF line up which will give us every possibility, and the higher profile bed we desire (our current is 18" which we feel too high, and 13" will be perfect).  It was confirmed that the manufacturer of the latex is LI.

I will report once we have it installed and a few nights on it, but thanks to this forum and reviews from this site.
