Re: Sick from natural latex foam bed - Lynn2006

The bed may have fire retardant chemicals on it that I know I am very allergic to. I am also allergic to Polyurethane outgassing unless it is made without the outgassing problems. Suede treated materials also bother me. I got severely sick right away and could not breath from the so-called natural latex Simmons bed from Rockaway Bedding and they finally agreed to take it away when I found the tag label was not 100% natural and the other issues just mentioned in this post was making me ill. I slept on the floor for a few weeks and then bought a 1" natural latex topper and found I loved the feel. I then bought a FloBeds natural latex bed and have had no problems.
Sorry about your troubles but for now, I would sell the bed and not get yourself sicker.

I subscribe to the latex mattress theory but some here like inner spring or Tempurpedic mattresses. I would suggest you use the "search" function.
I've had a Simmons Beautirest World Class something or other, a Sleep Number Bed and I'll never again own one of the "S" brand models unless I plan to only have it for a month. The cheap PU foam they use sags and provides no support after about 9 months, then you have to buy another if you need support. I've never owned a Tempurpedic.

When I turned sideways and was close to the edge on the mattress we are considering
Does this mean you have tried the Costco bed in person? Or are you talking about the Simmons or Breus?
If you cant try out the Costco bed, the best you can do is compare it to something you can try. For example the PUre Latex Bliss specs are available:
I believe the softest bed in their line is the "Beautiful" model, which is 3" 19 ILD, 2" 24 ILD, 6" 36 ILD.
Next is the Nutrition: 2" 19 ILD, 2" 28 ILD, 6" 36 ILD.
Then the Nature: 2" 19 ILD, 1" 28 ILD, 6" 36 ILD.
If you know which model you tried and how you liked it, that can give...

well hello again gang, my wife and i are living proof that there has to be a mattress for everyone. ( just havent found it yet). !
we began this journey when our old simmons 400 nxg decided to give out and the springs were fading and i wanted a new mattress..
we went with a very firm latex mattress that was already made the 6 inch core was a 36ild and the 3 inch top was a 28ild. it was way way too firm so like most people on here we tried to soften it with latex 1 inch toppers (didnt work) we tried 4 and 5 pound memory foam ( nope still very bad it would just sink to the top of the latex and become hard)
after a month of this we ended up selling the latex bed for 1/4 of...
Re: Stratch & Dent Mattress..are there any supplyers of quality mattress - ZackG

ive checked several so called "stratch & dent" stores for discounted mattress. but i'm finding out that these guy try to pass a used or low grade mattress claiming its a high end mattress thats been ruined during shipping. any one have any idea where i might find a "real" stratch & dent supplier selling quilty mattresses?
In Atlanta (and some other cities), I know that Simmons runs a factory store called "World of Sleep," where they sell mattresses that are not used. According to their website, they sell "discontinued" and "overstock" models. All sales are final, though, and there is no warranty.
Other mattress companies may have similar factory stores. Most of the places out there do seem to be selling used mattresses, though.

Not to be antagonistic, but from what I've read, stomach sleeping is the least recommended position. Apparently it can leave one prone to neck and back pain. 2/3 of people are side sleepers. I know they say you should put a pillow under your hips when stomach sleeping. If you use some sort of body pillow, it could train you to side sleep and not roll over to your stomach. I have a spare King size pillow which I put between knees and lay my upper arm over it when side sleeping. I find the 50" long body pillows a bit too long.
On to mattresses.
I would looking at a number of mattress stores including Sears if they have them nearby. Each retailer has different selections. Be very familiar with exchange policies (if they don't have one, find a retailer that does), and return policy. Very common...

Correction - Smell. The first week I had it the windows in my house where wide open and the smell seemed to have dissapated. The day before yesterday I had the windows closed and the AC on, when I got home yesterday the smell was alot stronger than when I had the windows open. Still not enough to really bother me but I can see how if you have a very sensitive nose this would be unpleasant. From what I have read and people I have spoken to the smell will take between 2-4 weeks to fully be gone....
Re: Anyone knows about Laura Ashley latex mattress at Sears? - JimBob

We are doing the same thing - going to all mattress stores and trying to compare what we see/feel. This Sears Opal Latex is on our short list - the listing that 'phynars' gives for construction is correct. Yes it is all latex, my nose told me so! There aren't any online reviews of it, but the reviews of latex mattresses in general sound great. I did check for returns, warrenty issues, etc. for this unit and found nothing significant. The Sears prices are pretty good over the 4th weekend and some may be available their outlets. We found another latex by Simmons, Natural... or Nature... something which had 3 comfort levels, one being simular to the Sears unit - price about x2 Sears discounted price. We are still trying to decide between this one and a luxary coil unit, but the price of the coil unit is x4. I...
Costco Nature's Caress 12" Latex - garyfam

I am planning on buying a new bed with adjustable base. Costco is selling a latex bed that is described as Talalay latex, dual sided (medium firm/plush comfort) with the following layers: 1" super soft foam, 2" 24 ILD Latex, 6" 32 ILD Latex, 2" 40 ILD, 7/8" firm foam. Price is $4500 for the 'king' adjustable which is actually 2 XL twins on a Leggett and Platt S-Cape base. Does anyone have any knowledge about this mattress? It is difficult to make a purchase like this without having the opportunity to lie on the bed.
The other mattresses we are considering are the Dr Breus. The Simmons Comforpedic Phenom. And the Pure Latex Bliss. These were all at Sleepy's, and we chose the middle of the line in each of these 3. My concerns about an all latex bed is that there seems to be very...
Help Buying a new Mattress - mjlw30

Hello, I'm new to the forum; I've been looking for a new mattress for the last two weeks. My current mattress is 10 years old and I noticed that when I sleep on my stomach, I wake up with the worst lower back pain. I thought maybe it was the pillow on my bed but I realized when i traveled for work a few months ago, i woke up every morning feeling refreshed. My first night back home, my back was killing me the next morning.
So, I went to a couple of Mattress stores here in GA. One major retailer and the other specializes only in Mattresses. I'm looking at one called
