That bed is a brick.  Yes it will hold up.  The only thing firmer is the floor.

Re: Simmons Comforpedic Mystic - ZackG

Since I also have a Comforpedic Mystic (AKA "Respiro", AKA "Navina") Plush, I thought I would post an update of my own.  Unfortunately, for me, this bed has not worked as well as I wanted it to.  The first few weeks were OK, but then the pain set in - pain like I haven't felt from a mattress before.  I will say that my partner doesn't have these problems, and thinks the bed is pretty comfortable -- we are about the same height and weight (6', 180lbs), so it goes to show that everyone's different.

I appear to have 2 problems with the Comforpedic:

  1. It is not soft enough.  Although the mattress conforms to my body, it's not soft.  I woke up several mornings with hip pain from sleeping on my side.  I'd often end up lying in weird positions because I couldn't...
Quality Latex over Innersprings - Do None of the S brand Mfrs Make One? - slpngoc
Jul 9, 2011 7:08 AM
With all this talk of mattress surgery here, I'm starting to think that not one S brand manufacturer (Sealy, Simmons, etc...) makes a ready made quality innerspring mattress with decent quality latex over top.

Am I correct?

Heck, I could search out Ikea and find a couple of mattresses that have latex over individual coils.  Trouble is I only have room for a twin and it must be an XL.  Ikea has no XL.

I would think a range of quality latex over a good set of individual coils would make an awesome bed.  Is there some sort of conspiracy by the S brand mfrs (perhaps they know a bed like this might last a long time), or another reason they seemingly don't make such a thing?

Greeting mattress experts and lurkers,

I am a once-a-decade mattress buyer in need of assistance.  Can anyone provide input for the Serta Icomfort foam mattress line?  Specifically, I'm interested in the Revolution model king size.  My initial search led me towards the Tempurpdic Rhapsody.  However, many reviews suggest Tempurpedic's sleep "hotter" than spring or other foam mattresses.  My wife is furnace so I dare not bring a mattress home which amplifies that issue.  So, my next focus was the Simmons ComforPedic.  My wife laid on every model and said they were "too springy" compared to the Tempurpedic and the iComfort.  So we are down to one option right now, the iComfort.  What I'm asking for help with is advice and comparison.  The iComfort line of Serta is very, very new and this is possibly why...

New & desperately need advice re: adding layers on top of painfully firm Beautyrest - sleepymom

I'm a newbie and am desperate.  My husband and I are now on our 3rd mattress from Macy's, and we get no more preference changes. We first had Simmons Beautyrest Black, which had poor quality memory foams that provided no support whatsoever, and our backs hurt because we sank too much.  (We do NOT recommend the Beautyrest Black!). On our third, and final, selection, we went with a Simmons Beautyrest Elderberry Tight Top Firm, even though the saleswoman said we'd need a topper b/c it is so firm.  She was right.  Alone, it is like sleeping on concrete, so it ends up being like a box spring.  (It has no give even if we jump on it).

We initially added a 1.5" geo cut "Memory Foam Bed Topper by Beautyrest" that I bought at Bed, Bath & Beyond.  It was too soft of a topper anyway, and did...

Help! Newbie! Latex in Seattle! - flushpuppy

It looks like this is the place to come!  We have a 20 year old Simmons Beautyrest, which has served us well. But it's 20 years old and the pains have started.  We went last weekend to Bedrooms and More, and tried a few.  The one that seemed the most comfortable was an Englander 5003, which is 100% natural dunlop latex with a bit of quilting on top.  I know there are some unfavorable reviews of Englander in general, but the folks at Bedrooms and More say their Englanders are made specially for them and sagging won't be an issue.  A queen set is $1,799.

I also emailed Bob at the 6 Day Mattress Store (good reviews on Yelp) and he has a Dunlop made by Emerald Sleep Systems in Tacoma for $999, and Pure Bliss Talalay products, starting at $1,399 (not sure if that's queen or not). ...

Thank you numbernine!

I've actually read some of the reviews on the usmattresses site and they do seem pretty good. But, on some other sites, I've read some pretty bad things about Beautyrest and even the world class models.

May I ask how long you've had yours? I was planning to do the same thing-- ~2" latex topper to get it soft, yet firm. smiley

Ha ha! That's pretty much what I am looking for. I plan to put a topper on it anyway, so I am just looking for something really firm that will NOT SAG in the next few years b/c of cheap junky foam.

Anyone else with opinions on this bed? Or anyone who has it?

Simmons Beautyrest World Class Extra Firm - molly2005

So, today I went to some local stores to check out really firm mattresses that I could put a latex topper on.

I really liked the Simmons Beautyrest World Class (Parksdale) extra firm. Anyone have experience with this mattress? They actually had a 2" Natura natural talalay latex topper at the store, so I was able to try it on top, which felt great. Nice and firm, but the latex was good on top.

I'm having a hard time finding a lot of reviews on this mattress in general. It felt very nice & firm in store and they of course assure you of no sagging. But- hard to know. Do these materials seem like they'd be durable? Or no? Or anyone have this one?

Apparently it contains the following:

1" high density purfoam- luxury foam

1" energy foam (3.5lb...

I just bought this mattress as well from USMattress.com.

Better beleive it IS hard. Something worth noting. I find it in some ways actually harder than comparable models by the other big S brands due to the 13 gauge coils (you'll find 14 in most other ) as well as the high coil count (at least its high for this price point) The cumulative effect is that while all beds with a comfort rating of say 2 will feel initially roughly the same - the coil support on this mattress has less give than the other ones so at 110 lbs i find myself feeling at odds with the the coils beneath me wishing they would give just a tiny bit more.

Not to digress - given the above - i'd say this thing seems to stand a good chance of holding up for years as...
