Re: Flobeds advice? - Lynn2006

I just tried to use the Google Spell check and lost my email that I just posted.
I love my FloBed but I feel that due to my petite size, the recommendations were too soft for me and should have asked me my preference for firm or soft beds. I had to add a blended Super Firm Latex core to the bottom of my split cores on each side of the bed to get the bed to the firmness that I desire. All of my other latex cores are natural Extra Firm latex cores. I had no problems with the blended latex core despite having allergies to chemicals so the Talalay Process really cleans the latex pieces well. I started off with much softer latex cores but then again, I always had a very firm bed with no topper all my life. I really love having that little bit of...

Hmm, I emailed customer service about that very pillow and they told me it was blended talalay. In fact, they said that all of their pincore pillows are blended talalay. Maybe the person who answered my question was confused...or maybe they recently stopped selling the 100% version.
Flobeds' customer service must have heeded you and updated their website: today that "100% Natural Latex" pillow that in its pic looked just like the "Latex Pincore" is no longer listed. It's gone.

I know what you mean! I can't use my ErgoSoft latex pillow because it's just a little too firm, so I've been using it as a backrest. :-) Though you've really been getting your money's worth since yours was free. ;-)
Thanks for mentioning the Flobed pillow...the soft sounds perfect to me (CS said it was 20 ILD), but it's blended latex and I really wanted natural. I'm probably being paranoid, but I never know what's going to cause a reaction and what isn't. The only other pincore pillow I could find is a Dunlopillo 10 ILD Talalay latex, which sounds like something you'd sink right through. So, on with the pillow search!
Flobeds sells a natural latex version of its pillow. It looks exactly the same, i.e., pincore, but instead of being called Latex Pincore it's called 100% Natural Latex, You wouldn't have seen it following the...

Beanie: Thank you for the response. When you indicate that they do not offer organic, what do you mean?
This company claims to be selling Talalay latex foam from Europe. Is it a blended latex foam? Part synthetic and part natural rubber?
This is the problem with so much of the mattress marketing today. It is so difficult to really find out what the actual product is. I have lived my life around synthetic latex without any problems. But I have never owned a bed that was purely a synthetic bed. The problem with synthetic latex is that the quality can be all over the place due to the fact that there are no government regulations stating what the product must be. This business about the "organic latex" I believe is over hyped. They are selling a great deal against synthetics. In the end what is really important...

"Your bed isn't perfectly square, so you cant rotate the cores. Do you have a center support on your frame? How many legs does it have? Oh, and how much does your cat weigh? lol.
eagle2"
Well, my cat is 18 lbs so I'm not denying he may be a contributing factor! Yea, I do have a center support (so three vertically oriented supports) and then full coverage horizontal boards with no gap > a quarter of an inch. I can stand on it. I don't think it's the frame.
"So let me try again.
The business you mention about the crack between the split pieces is a concern of mine as well. However many people have told me not to worry as the friction between the pieces keeps them from giving you a problem. You of course, have your own personal experience, and would beg to differ. Flowbeds seems to...

Flobeds sells a natural latex version of its pillow. It looks exactly the same, i.e., pincore, but instead of being called Latex Pincore it's called 100% Natural Latex, You wouldn't have seen it following the link I posted because it gets filtered out when looking at standard size pillows. Try this link for queen size pillows and you'll see a natural latex that sells for $59: http://www.flobeds.com/linens/index.htm?Size=Queen (Or is this the "Dunlopillo 10 ILD Talalay latex" that's too soft?)</p><p>Philly888

It's the latex pincore pillow that came free with my Flobeds purchase in early 2008. I don't know if what they're offering now is exactly the same, but see http://www.flobeds.com/linens/index.htm?Size=STD/Double. </p><p>As I said, I got it free with my purchase of a mattress. I believe that back then it was listed as a $39 value. I'm not even sure if it's the soft or the medium; I'd have to check my receipt. To me it seems very soft, too soft for my head. I use it as a body pillow to hug, a between-the-knees pillow, or as a back cushion when watching TV from a La-Z-Boy chair. I'm really getting my money's worth! :)</p><p>Philly888

I'm writing in connection with the original question, not the new developments, so pardon the interruption.
We just decided on FloBeds instead of SleepEZ because
1) FloBeds seems more chatty and open; for example, you don't know as much about the cover material w/SleepEZ
2) SleepEZ's all natural (ie, not blended natural/synthetic) latex seems to be Dunlop rather than Talalay
3) all the stuff about the Better Business Bureau on FloBeds' site was very persuasive
4) cute FloBeds website (sorry to admit that, but hey, it matters subconsciously at least)
5) the ability to price-match retroactively (as Lynne just pointed out again)
The total price w/foundation and legs for FloBeds made us both gasp in horror, but we figure that we'd rather know EXACTLY what we're getting instead of guessing, and that kind of assurance is something you have to pay for.

I have no experience with any of the companies you mentioned, but a search on this forum will yield dozens of discussions about Sleepez, Flobeds and Savvy Rest. Considering the budget issue, you may also want to check into organic mattresses made by foamorder.com. Their Natural Sense mattress is dunlop. I think they're less expensive than the others, but I'm not sure about their return policy. I don't think any of the companies match Flobeds return policy. Foamorder also has a clearance section with good prices. The web site is confusing, so I'd suggest you call them to discuss your needs. By the way, I have no connection to them, but spent alot of time researching their site before finally deciding to order from FBM because of my own budget issues. The web site is: http://www.foamorder.com/organic-mattress.html
Beanie: Thank you for responding.
I checked out foamorder.com as you suggested. Their prices are certainly the least...

As I told someone else who asked a similar question, I recommend flobeds because if you hate it you can return it for a refund minus shipping and it gives you the chance to try out various firmnesses of latex and/or memory foam.
Jim, thank you so much for responding, it had been several days since my initial post and the only response I had received was from myself, until your post.
I agree with you about FlowBeds. They seem to be a very nice family run business and one of the few companies with a return policy. I am waiting to receive some samples from them that Dewey has sent to me. I have some samples from Savvy Rest, and the fact that they do sell Dunlop interests me. The Dunlop just seems to be a more natural feeling latex as opposed to Talalay. It's a shame...
