Bought Stearns/Foster/Costco based on reviews, after two nights the left side of my body goes numb, I think it elevates my legs, too firm or whatever...But as it is Costco, return isnt an issue.
Here is my question, I stay in hotels like 4 Seasons/Fairmont/Sheraton/W etc., they usually have pillow top spring mattresses and they sell them, as you know. How is it they can have a pillow top Sealy or Serta mattress, have the room occupied everyday almost, and that mattress that is probably atleast a year old maybe 2, doesnt hurt my back at all...Doesnt have impressions in it like you hear everyone complain about...
I have slept in hotels all around the country in the past 5 months, not one morning of waking in pain, I get home and i am in pain no matter what mattress...

Regarding the S&F mattress, they don't put much soft stuff on this particular model in the first place, so I'd be shocked if we ever had to do surgery on it. Also, we got the one with latex layer and NOT the layer of memory foam (which just makes us both extremely hot and sweaty). I will say, Stearns and Foster does make a lot of...

Just want to add that latex is not for everybody. some love it and some do not. I have major spine issues and must have an innerspring base. If you are a person who needs that, look into the companies that use the holland maid coil system, the best offset coil system out there. very high coil count, great support. On the East coast it is used by Beckley, Shifman and in the gold bond innerspring mattresses. steel gauge is 12.5 or 12.75, ie very strong. You can also get that gauge in the Stearns and Foster top of the line limited edition mattresses, but they are only made in queen and king sizes. the last option to get this gauge is king koil extended life line of mattresses, made for heavier people. Once you have that base, you can add a top layer of memory foam or latex with...

you are second shopper who has come on this board and ended up with a simmons, even though most posters caution against that brand. most of their mattresses are now made with 14 or 15 gauge coil. they do use a lot of them, but the weakness of the steel itself tells you these are going to be soft mattresses. the brands recommended above - beckley and shifman - use the holland maid open offset 12 3/4 gauge coil. they are expensive, but if you watch craigslist you can sometimes find one new or almost new for half price or lower. shifman makes some models with a 12.5 guage, even firmer. at that firmness a side sleeper would need a soft topper, but you would have the support. there are some smaller companies and many many local mattress makers who make firm offset coil mattresses. I have posted a few...

bummer that they will not let you go with the higher end brands. as a stomach sleeper you need Firm bigtime or you are going to ginch your back immediately. either latex or the stearns and foster extended life with the 12 3/4 gauge coil would work for you. of what else is left, hard to say. have the store look through their specs and find you a mattress with a 12 1/2 or 12 3/4 gauge coil. otherwise they do sell a designer serta latex that you might be able to get in a firm density. they are not giving you a lot of options. simmons makes the softest mattress out there and it would kill your back. you could never tolerate it. so I would nix that right away.
ps - ask for the specs on any mattress that calls itself "orthopedic" . there are several...

I will say, Stearns and Foster does make a lot of combinations of firmness/coils. We sprung for the higher end one in the hopes of it holding it's firmness a long time. It feels incredibly solid and quality. But to try them all out we had to go to several stores. No one carries all the models - there's probably just too many!...

I just registered and I am posting this in gratitude to all of you who (unknowingly) helped us make a great mattress decision and to maybe help someone else.
We were sleeping on a pillowtop mattress that we'd only had four years. Every morning I would eagerly jump out of bed to escape the aches in my back! We knew we'd made a mistake getting the pillowtop about one year into that mattress, but we had such a financial commitment to the thing that we suffered three more years. Stupid.
Just purchased a Stearns & Foster Ultra Firm from the Estate Collection - they're called different things at different stores, as you all know. At Mattress Warehouse (Cincy) it's called Governor's Park, at Macy's it's Carried Away. Anyway, in both stores I laid on it a long time, and thought it perfect. At home, though, another story - too...

I don't have any advice except ditch it and start over if you can get away with that. If there's no way out but a trade, trade for the firmer one and put a topper on it. My experience has been that these big name brands soften up a lot with use.
I'm sorry that you had a bad experience. But I don't think your experience is unique. There are many complaints all over the 'Net and from actual live people I have talked to that what they had delivered to their homes was NOT like the mattress set they tried in the store(s), even though the bar code says it's the same thing. With all of the cost-cutting and the zero-inventory / just-in-time stuff manufacturers are doing, I suspect that they buy from a variety of suppliers, and they constantly put pressure on them to reduce the...

Stearns & Foster 'Luxury Firm' Too Soft (gah)! What are my Options? - Lovegasoline

Oh dear.
At Sears.com I purchased a Sterns & Foster queen-size Hearthstone mattress, ‘Luxury Firm’, at a terrific price for about $760 delivered (w/10% Sears discount; $127 BING cashback, 18 months 0% financing). It is the lowest priced Sterns & Foster model, the ‘Level H’ mattress and it felt great when I tested it in the store. I also demo’d this same Stearns and Foster ‘Level H’ in Luxury Firm at Sleepies and Macys. I was sure I found the right mattress at the right price. Firm, supportive, and comfortable.
I took delivery and I’ve had the mattress for 28 days. I have only two days left to decide what the heck to do. Help!!
I’m a slender 47 yr old male, 5’11’, 135lbs. I have a curvature in my lumbar region and also a herniated disc and get frequent lower...
