Not sure on the specs for the Simmons World Class but my vote would be for which ever one contains the least amount of polyurethane foam.  In total in the S & F model there was 3" on the top + a 0.5" memory foam layer.

If there is not any less in the World Class you may even want to consider the Beautyrest classic firm tight top if it contains less poly foam, the difference in quality between the springs will be minimal.

The main problem I had with the entry level 'Hearthstone Luxury Plush' (tight top) from Sears was the foam indented in hips and shoulder areas in only several days.  I know we've heard that a million times.  It was a good looking mattress and the cover fabric was nice, but it would have been nice to have really durable and 'springy' foam.  The box spring was decent.  I pressed down on it fairly hard and it was solid under there.

I guess it's a moot point for me to plug S&F because it didn't work for me.  Maybe a pillowtop would have worked, but I don't plan to get one. I'm much more interested in high quality latex comfort layers.

I tried latex mattresses. They didn't feel good to me. I'm buying a King. $3,500 for Cloud Supreme $4,500 for Cloud-Luxe.

Ok, Just wanted to throw this out there ...

did you try the iComfort Genius?  Reason I say is because Genius is the firmest of all of them.  Top layer is the gel, but under that is a firmer layer, forgot what they call it.  I've tried Genius in 2 stores and both the same, firmer feel.

Not to harp in iComfort, but  the price is quite a bit easier than TP.

And not to harp on Latex either, but I've tried the Laura Ashley latex at Sears, yuck, Simmons Natural Care latex, just ok.  I already spoke about the Eco-Cloud / Clarity above.  Sorry...

I have physically cut open a S & F warranty return mattress that was supposed to contain wool and silk in the mattress, there was no wool or silk in the fibres underneath the cover.  The fabrics may look fancy but they are essentially still mass produced synthetic covers from overseas just like the stuff on the 'lower end' Posturepedics.  Regarding coil differences, there are many Posturepedics that contain pocket coils, ironically enough a lot of people have complained about the quality of S & F beds going down since they made the change to invidual coils a few years ago.  They used to be very simple heavy gauge bonnell springs.

The beds also used to come with a card that was supposed to be signed by the person...

If you can find a small local mattress manufacturer, I would recommend.  We have one who makes several types of mattresses only, then many different toppers.  The difference is he sews on large velcro patches at the corners to anchor any topper which has velcro on it as well.

The place is called Select Sleep Mattress in Union City, CA

My husband and I bought the Simmons Beautyrest World Class extra firm (Elderberry) tight top in May.  I'm not sure, but the name Elderberry may be the Macy's name.  We were looking for a very firm mattress with no inferior foam.  It is an extremely firm mattress.  We are campers, and as my husband says, sleeping on the ground is softer than this mattress.  We initially put 1.5 inches of memory foam topper on top of it, but that wasn't enough.  We then added another 1.5 inches of a Talalay latex foam topper, which began to help.  We are now looking for our next layer of topper.  At the rate we are going, we are essentially building a mattress on top of it, since it is as firm as a box spring.

It does not yield at all to pressure.  The saleswoman told us that we would...

Hi all,

Since my husband does not like the feel of Tempurpedic, we've decided to go firm firm mattress with a good latex topper. (Maybe like 1" memory foam b/t the mattress & latex topper if needed)

I believe we have narrowed our search to the following:

1.) Stearns and Foster "Foxbridge" Luxury Firm (Mattress Firm will price match for $1,799 for the King set) http://www.mattressfirm.com/Stearns-and-Foster-Foxbridge-Firm-P94.aspx

2.) The Simmons Beautyrest World Class extra firm (30 day return also for $1,799)

They feel quite similar in person, both very firm, little to no bounce. They also have similar coil count, foam, etc...

Any thoughts on long term durability b/t the two (NO SAGGING)? Stearns and Foster vs. Simmons Beautyrest World Class? Or are they both junk that will sag?

THANKS!!!

Update: I put another 2" of latex on this thing for a total of 3.5" and must say the springs are  still a bit too uncompromising for me. Arms always alseep in the morning etc.  Going to swap it out for a foam/latex hybrid at a loss.

Sorry if this is a redundant reformulated post. Would love some thoughts on the more price conscious latex/foam combo beds out there that can be had for around $600 for a full size. I've been checking out the EcoSleep Madison since I would be bound to what US Mattress has in stock as I am in a comfort swap scenario. In general though these type beds seem to get pretty favorable reviews.

In short, I bought a simmons extra firm. Added 1.5" latex topper, still bottoming out (I know this is not much latex) and fear that investing in more latex is just going to get me a very tall bed and no relief after reading this woman's reply in another post:

I've only had it about a month. So far so good. I went on epinions.com before buying and found that in general, the only beds that get good reviews are the ones that cost several thousand dollars. Most softer S brand beds seem to get bad reviews. Also, this might be a case of people feeling more compelled to post a bad review than a good one. I'm thinkinig that if a person gets a bed they're happy with they're more likely to  just move on and not think twice about posting something positive.
