Perhaps they can build a better 'value'....but in terms of just building a really good bed...Vi-Spring is pretty damn good. You simply will not be able to replicate the feeling with a latex mattress....that being said you may find the latex to feel even more comfortable. Depends on the person....

I would say based on every pocket coil mattress I have ever looked @ (Carpe Diem, Hastens, Vi-Spring, Hypnos, Marshall) the GreenSleep pocket coil is probably the most durable. The coils are heavy 13.5 gauge steel (very thick for a pocket coil), and wrapped in rubberized coir. Technically the beds come with seperate toppers that are filled with natural rubber wool and cotton covered. The toppers are replaceable but they are quite durable as they are made out of rubber and contain no polyurethane foam. The bottom coil cores have no upholstery at all, so they should last a very, very long time before needing replacing. The firmer model (Molena) has a pretty solid feeling to it, definitely does not feel like a pillowtop at all....

Vi-Spring themselves do make a mattress topper. Probably for reasons such as this among other ones, you can't be the only person who has ever noticed the buttons. ...

I have not made a comment for sometime. I continue to frequent this forum, but I will only comment when I feel I have something to contribute. The Vi-Spring Elite and Coronet are their opening models. They represent Vi-Spring at tremendous values. They have the same handcraftmanship and lifetime warranty that the $34,000 models have. They are intentionally under priced to introduce the difference a mattress of this quality can make to someones sleep and thus improve their overall health. They are still available in dual firmnesses and there are 4 firmness levels. They are all natural and 2 sided. With the outertuffting and hand side stitching they will truly last a lifetime. They will sleep cooler than virtually any other all natural mattress. There is no horse hair in either model. The Elite uses a total of 22 lbs. of British fleece wool/cotton blend in a queen size. The Coronet has...

First, both Carpe Diem and Vi-Spring use as their support component, pocketed coils, not latex. Second, Vi-Spring does not use any foam at all and Carpe Diem uses latex as the main cushioning element. The feels are quite different from all latex mattresses. Carpe Diem has that plush feel that can only be accomplished by the "top mattress" that is independant from the main mattress. It is typical of thte Swedish/Scandanavian high end mattresses, like Hastens and Dux that also have the "top mattress" component. The Scandanavians developed the "top mattress" in response to their long, dark and damp winters. Everything gets musty, so when summer comes along they would bring everything they could to air out into the sun. They didn't neccessarily know that the sunlight was the original source of uv radiation, that disinfects, but they knew it made evrything fresher. It was easier to transport a "top mattress" than...
I would like to introduce myself - jsmatt
Aug 27, 2011 10:35 AM
I am currently in the specialty mattress industry in a retail capacity. I have experience with latex, Tempur-pedic, Aireloom, Kingsdown, Carpe Diem, Vi-Spring, natural and organic mattresses. By the previous listings, you would correctly surmise that I have been mainly focused with premium lines. However, I am very familiar many of the more affordable options, such as Flo-Beds. If anyone has specific questions that they would like ask me, I welcome them. I have a reputation for honesty and integrity. I do apologize to those that have felt that they have not always experienced that in those they have encountered in my industry....
Brand recommendations, budget 5k, Cali King, in LA. - lateriser

Hi Everyone,
I am looking to buy a new Cali-king mattress and want to spend no more than $5k. I'm in Los Angeles. I had heard Carpe Diem was supposed to introduce an entry level line this year for under $5k but not sure if they have yet. Anyone know if that's happened? Also, is Vi-Spring out of my range? Trying to stay away from the S brands (had a S&F previously, not impressed with it long-term). I'm trying to narrow my search to a few brands with good reputations in my price range.
Many thanks in advance for any help you could give me.

Vi Spring Coronet or Elite OR Something else ??? - bebe

In need of a king mattress. We are replaceing a 12 yr. old pillowtop that is like sleeping in a taco shell !! I looked at the Vi-Spring yesterday. The price is much higher
than I thought but I'd like to go no higher than 5,000. I am a side sleeper, 5'7" 120 and hubby is 6'3" and 220, side as well. I'm thinking of getting a medium because I couldn't
tell much difference in the medium and the firm. I'm afraid of getting the firm - might be too firm. Also is there anything else on the market (in Houston TX) that is decent and
will last for years? I've been reading and it seems every other mattress manufacturer is just all about marketing and actually selling a hyped up product. Is there anything
that competes with Vi-Spring that I can...
