Re: Who is Sleep Science? - Dallasgirl

Hey guys.

I do not personally own a Sleep Science, but a good friend owns the SS Ara from Costco. He's had it a year or so and loves it. But- it's all memory foam (no latex) and a lot of it (5-6" on top I think). My husband just doesnt love the feel of most memory foam, so we opted not to try the Ara.

I do love the Tempurpedic Bellafina-- it's a very similar layering as the SS Hybrid-- memory foam over latex. It's a bit bouncier than most other Tempur models and it's fairly firm. I believe you'll read that about the SS Hybrid as well. The nice thing about the hybrid (not having actually tried it) is that it's quite a bit less expensive than the Bellafina and it's returnable nearly forever with Costco! Sort of a win win. Of course, maybe...

The truth is, when you are trying to find a sleep system that will allow you to sink where you need to (hips and shoulders) but be supported up where you need it (waist, lower back). Latex, when trying to find the right one for you, needs to allow your hips and shoulders to sink while still holding the small ofyour back up to keep your alignment correct. Re: Dr Breus Mattress reviews??? - GuyMakesSense

Tons of interesting responses in this forum about Dr. Breus' beds. In my experience, the name of the person on the bed (Donald Trump, Vera Wang, Dr. Breus, etc) usually have very little to do with the actual product performance. I will say that Dr. Breus , in the area of the sleep sciences, is absolutely phenomenal... when it comes to the actual mattresses, it seems like it might be a little self-serving. I havenot tried out this line of beds yet, but I do know some of the other reponses have listed some inaccurate info.

  • Polyurethane foam covers a HUGE amount of materials, including memory foam... which does not break down as fast as other types of polyurethane foams.
  • Sleeping hot many times is the individual but could also be the fact that being on a new support system that...

As someone who has been in the industry for a number of years, let me clear up a few points:

First, if you are genuinely interested in the benefits of a memory foam mattress, you have to understand that, in spite of whatever anyone else may tell you, Tempurpedic really is THE best quality bed in the category.  Buying any other brand means compromising in some way.  They have the science, the research, and the years of experience that no other manufacturer can pretend to.  Other brands can (and should!) be less expensive, but bear in mind the old adage, 'you get what you pay for'.  With all the competition between mattress manufacturers, retailers, and even mattress types, if there is a product category in which this saying is true,...

Re: My back hurts & I'm still ISO a non-sag mattress! - sleepquest

Wow, I could have written the same thing.  I'm average height/weight as well, and I've been trying to find a mattress that doesn't sag within a couple months.  I'm normally a lurker on most online forums, and I was joking with my wife that my back pain and sleepless nights have gotten so bad that it actually got me to create an account here.

In my case, I've tried a Tempurpedic Deluxe which only lasted maybe 6 months and turned out to sag a huge amount and sleep really hot.  We also tried a Keetsa Pillow Plus that was awesome (nice and firm and no pain!) for about 2 months and then started sagging, but not enough to allow for a warranty exchange.  And of course, I waited longer than 90 days to return the mattress, so I'm SOL on that one.

Growing up, it seemed...

I'm interested in anyones experiences with the Sleep Science hybrid as well.  The one Costco is selling now is so new that there aren't many reviews yet, but I'm thinking of giving it a try....

I'm also interested in any reviews on the hybrid sleep science from Costco.  Found a few old reviews at http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11677713 FYI.  Debating between the Novaform Serafina or the Hybrid Sleep Science.  Suggestions/opinions appreciated.
