Combination side sleeper back sleeper ... lower lumbar pain.  170 lb male.  Spent 4-5 years in constant pain wrestling through 23 mattresses and 100 toppers.  Couldn't even tell if there was an improvement in topper shuffling there was so much residual pain.  I took the surgery leap maybe 4 months ago to isolate the comfort layer from the support layer (springs)... with sandman's help and example.  Have been sleeping pretty well with 4 one inch layers over just the firm continuous springs from a Firm Serta Perfect sleeper.

You, like me and others with back pain... need firm to very firm as close underneath just enough or as little comfort layer as possible... soft at the top ... medium... to firm as you go down.

I chose the Serta for the continuous coil.. recommended for us with back pain.

After seeing various "surgery" success stories, I am ready to cut the failing top from our 5yo Serta Perfect Sleeper "Coastal Oaks" and try some DIY replacement options.

My wife (5'8" 140# Back) and I (6'1" 230# Side/Back) liked this mattress until the top totally gave out in the last 6mo or so. This is a fairly firm innerspring with a 4.5" plush top (I know nothing of the actual construction), so I'm hoping that I'll find the coils in good condition and that I can layer some quality foam in place of the failed layer and get several more years of use from the remaining bits.

I'm not sure where to start as far as layers go. Neither of us is a big fan (in the showroom, at least) of the feel of MF, and when we try mattresses out, we tend to gravitate towards...

I sleep warm, mostly. a light blanket is good enough. The wife and I bought an on clearance Dever Matress 10 years ago. I think we payed $200 bucks. Its a non flipping pillow top, and was pretty amazing for a while, and since then it has been kinda crappy. Barely getting by. Sometimes I wake up with horrible back paings like I have a kidney infection, and other days I wake up like I was in a coma all night!

I sleep on my belly, and my side. My complaint is I toss and turn all night and it keeps me awake.

When we bought this bed we were poor kids, just gettitng married, getting our first place, 75lbs lighter in weight each, and 12 years younger.

My wife and I have been shopping for a new mattress set and saw that Big Lots has the Serta Perfect Sleeper Hamilton Park queen super pillow top mattress and boxspring for $649. I went over to a local furniture store that advertises their prices are below other stores sales prices, and asked the salesperson to show me the equivalent they sold. The one they found that matched was a $999 Vera Wang super pillow top. The Hamilton Park has all the big features like 800 coil count, advanced continuous support innerspring, total foam edge encasement, temperature sensitive memory foam, and convoluted comfort foams. Have you thought about the perfect sleeper with the eurotop? I initially wanted the iComfort since one of my girlfriends highly recommended it - until I saw the price tag that is!  I had a really tough time with mattress shopping when I moved into my new house a little over a month ago. Long time no post.  Our story is that we returned our rock hard Insight for a Genius after the mandatory trial period.  Without question between the Insight and the Genius, we found the Genius more comfortable.  We do not find it too hot and we find the support & comfort just right.  We are now satisfied iComfort customers and have turned the corner and would recommend this bed to prospective foam bed buyers.  I felt a bit obliged to re-post as I did some slamming of the Insight earlier on this post.  I like many wished we didn't have to fork out the steep price of admission for foam beds.  I would recommend this bed, but prepare yourselves for a week of adjustment.  Get through that, and you should be pleased.  Maybe there is a jogging/running anology here with these foam beds - the first time one runs you are...

I am in the hunt for a medium-soft memory foam mattress thats similar to the Temp Cloud Luxe or Temp Grand but is not gonna break the bank...

 

I currently have a Serta Perfect Sleeper Mosaic Elite that I loved...but its 5 years old and started to get sagging parts in it...

 

I am over 300 lbs so hard foam does not feel very comfy to me....

Hi there again!! Just posting another update on my experiences so far with the Icomfort Revoultion bed in a queen size. I don't know what to think now. The first two nights were great, the two nights after that were horrible, and I am still having back pain on this bed. BUT...... I think my back is out right now; going to the chiropractor today. I have been taking care of my sister who just had a 3 level spinal fusion on her back and is recovering. She also has this bed and bought it about 4 days after I did.
