Surprised its a Simmons! shows my ignorance on how many factories they have around the world.  Even after checking out the Chinese website their products over there are essentially the same that we have here.

Frustrated with latex mattress need help from latex gurus here!!! - alopex

Hi all,

Thanks so much in advance for any insight, advice you can give. I'm desperate - I have to make this work. I’m soooooooo tired of researching mattresses and trying to find trustworthy sources among the many options. all the mattresses look so comfy and enticing online or store, its mind boggling...This is so very FRUSTRATING because I RESEARCHED for hours and hours, tried different beds in stores...argh

Mattress stats:
SleepEZ 8500. Layers - SMF from top to bottom

I’m side and stomach sleeper (but trying not to sleep on stomach so much, I know this isn’t good for lower back).

Problem:
Can’t seem to feel totally comfortable on this mattress. The main effect is soreness/pain in lower back that stays with me all day. Sometimes I also get pain in my upper body/shoulders sleeping on my...

Kathy,

Yes, this bed is made by Simmons. My husband and I have now had and returned two Westin Heavenly Beds from Nordstrom. A shame! The WHB is so comfortable at first and I can even remember lying on each of them the first few nights thinking how supportive and how nice it felt. BUT-- then the sagging begins :( The first one took about a year or so to notice. Nordstrom's replaced it for us bc it was causing me constant back pain. The second was even worse and started sagging somewhere around month six. Again, causing such back pain that I began sleeping in the guest room and we returned it once and for all.

The good news-- if you do buy one, BUY IT FROM NORDSTROM'S! Their customer...

Thanks for the recommendation for the wool pad, that one looks good.

What's the difference between buying from FBM or going to a local place to have one custom made?

Most likely price.  If you know what you want DIY can be very cost effective.  I agree that FBM reviews have had ups and downs, but two recent reviews here have been positive.  There was a thread that had pics of the latex and it looked good.  No defects, discoloration, tears and the pieces were all the same size.

YMMV...

Isn't this bed made by Simmons? If it's a pillowtop, it WILL sag. If you're a very light person it might hold up for a year, but usually in much less time it will develop a dip in the middle. Pillowtops feel wonderful at first, and I'm pretty most of the rave reviews are from people who have owned one for a short time only.

If mattress makers would put better, more durable material into the pillowtops, we would have a product of unparalled comfort.

Molly,  I have a Simmons Beautyrest Bagwell, extra firm mattress for over seven years now and at 230 pounds, it's flat as the day I bought it.  However, I have been adding mattress toppers continuously.  First I tried a 2" memory foam from Macy's which proved to be to hard.  Then I added a quilted wool duvet from McRoskeys with not much success.  Two week ago, I purchased a Queen Rejuvenite mattress topper from Arizona Premium On-line with a 28 ILD rating manufactured at Latex International and while this feels nice to sleep on, the 28 ILD on the extra firm simmonds is still too hard.  Hope this helps.

The McRoskey mattress topper is a Brun De Vian-Tiran topper which is a...

Corsicana vs. Those Three "S" Manufacturers - Bostoner

I was searching for a twin extra firm mattress set.  Sleepys
lists a Simmons that I'm sure is a safe bet.  With their shipping
charge and taxes the final cost would be around $800.00

A few days ago I found this listing at US Mattress:

http://www.us-mattress.com/corsicana-8325-lxf.html

I found many customer reviews about the Corsicana brand.
Some of the older comments that go back several years were
very negative.  More recent reviews, like these at the Sleepys
site are very positive.

If you ask a mattress salesperson why Corsicana is cheaper,
they always say the same thing.  The big three spend a fortune

I have been lurking aroudn this fourm and other sites for a few weeks now.  My wife and i have decided to repalce our 14 year old mattress and i was unsure wich direction to go in.  Originally we wer egoing to go with a spring mattress as it's what we knew.  After reading a lot of reviews from various sites  I went out the other day and tried out some really nice ones from Rosedale-simmons, kingsdown, icomfort and tempurpedic.  I came home and of course googled the mattresses and everyone said the same thing about the spring brands.  They start out great, but in a year the pillow top is gone and your stuck with a uncomfortable mattress.  THe Icomfort seemed to start off well, but i saw a lot of people who said that it wore down fast and the y eere left with dips and a uneven...
