"As for the rest of your rant - I think people distinguish latex manufactured from stuff that comes from trees as opposed to stuff made from petroleum. Sure, nothing is 100% anything but 97% is a lot different than 20% or 40% from the plant source. Anyone who can read can figure that out. And, of course all latex is man made in the sense that you can't go into a forest and chop down raw slabs of latex to sleep on. People with chemical senitivities might want to go as far from something like memory foam as possible. "100% Natural Latex" might be a marketing term and not absolutely, literally accurate but the term does distinguish it from latex that is blended with petroleum products in a specific ratio and products that have a lot of cheap fillers that affect the quality and texture of the latex. Some sources...

Pranasleep sounds OK, but remember that advantage of latex is that you can assemble the same mattress yourself from just a few parts. Talatech latex runs roughly $75-80/inch twin size (maybe roughly $450 for a 3" king topper). And covers can be found anywhere from $150-$300, or more). Easy to find. You can put together a nice king sized 8-9" latex mattress for around $1500. If you're paying a lot more than that, you're paying more than necessary. As far as the latex over coil-- sounds nice, but if others want to go that route, much, much, much cheaper to buy a decent firm coil mattress, and a separate latex topper. And just as comfortable....

I ordered/received 3" Talatech topper from sleeplikeabear and all went well. Prices in the same ballpark as foamsource and a couple of others, and it is Talatech (latex international). They have many ILDs and thicknesses, which is advantageous....

A question for Lynn2006 about your 1.5 inch topper: what is the ILD of the latex and is it Talatech (blended) or 100% natural Talalay. I saw that you really liked it on a previous thread and are a small person and side sleeper like me. Thanks. I'm also interested to hear how alibaba likes the 32 ILD topper which sounds somewhat firm... ...

Thanks for all the great information Meqonjim. In my quest for information (I'm asking EVERYBODY), I called Shawn at Sleepez. What a great guy. No hard sell there - he even suggested I call Flobeds to see what options they might have! Anyway, he can get me a 1.5 inch Talatech (from LI) topper in a 20-22 ILD which he thought would be great combined with my wool pad. It's softer though that the 24 - 26 ILD that folks here have suggested. So it's Shawn's suggestion vs. a 2 inch Talatech topper in 24 ILD from Sleeplikeabear. 1 inch is probably not going to be enough thickness, so I think I'm abandoning that option... ...

Seems like I should go for somewhere in the 24 or 26 ILD range then. The companies that have this choice of firmness seem to be Sleeplikeabear.com and FoamSource. Can anyone tell me the difference (feel) between the blended Talatech latex and the 100% Talatech latex sold by foamsource.com? The blended is rated 24 ILD while the 100% natural is rated 22 - 26 ILD. The difference in price is only $30.00. Sleeplikeabear doesn't say on their website if their foam is a blend or not. Choices, choices... ...

It looks like Latex International makes some Dunlop. There is a zoned Dunlop core made of "Unilatex" at the bottom of this page. Looks interesting but I have no idea where you'd buy it. Or is this Sapsa - the all synthetic latex? I'm so confused....

From LI's FAQ
"Why do you sell Unilatex™, which is manufactured by Sapsa?
In 1997, Latex International entered into an agreement with Sapsa Bedding to be the exclusive distributor of continuous process (Unilatex™) latex cores in North America. This ensured a comprehensive latex product portfolio.
Today, Latex International remains the only Talalay latex foam manufacturer in the Americas. Sapsa’s Unilatex™, made to our specifications and high standards, is the highest quality, most consistent Dunlop process product in the world. The product is a firmer, denser latex and is ideally used as a base core. We recommend 2 to 4” of LI’s Talatech latex on top of the Sapsa...

We still love the mattress after a couple of nights. I am REALLY glad we got the soft top layer. It is really quite firm. Most companies do call a 30 ILD a Medium or even Medium/Firm. And we did try both sides of the the pieces of latex and prefer the soft side up. I had my husband's side with the firmer side up and my side with the soft side up for a little while to see if we could tell the difference. There was a slight difference but enough to bother making both sides with the soft side up. We left the bottom firm layer with the firm side up and put the soft side up for the middle and top layers.

I do prefer the Dunlop and I also agree the blended Talatech is a superior product. The "all natural" talalay seems too fragile. My concern about the Talatech is that it seems like a lot of people here had problems getting the talalay to feel firm enough and that the Talatech mattresses we tried around here felt too :jiggly" (for lack of a better word). My husband's back tightened up on the talalay beds he tried here so we took a chance on Dunlop. So far we are very happy with the Dunlop mattress we purchased. It is the right firmness without "pushing back" like the talalay we tried.

This seller - Sleep Like a Bear - has a lot of choices in Latex toppers. I don't have any experience with them but they do have a good rating on eBay. They seem to have reasonable prices and free shipping.
