In the video above, the lady shows how NxG memory regains its shape quicker than 'ordinary' memory foam (which looks just like basic Tempur foam), but, only the contour line has regular Tempur foam at the surface as I recall. I would bet Tempur ES foam...

Simmons have individual coils and should do fine on adjustable. I've seen a Stearns and Foster which has individual coils on an adjustable base, but there's a lot of heft in the mattress, so it doesn't conform really well to the adjustable base. To be safe, it would seem smart to test the mattress on adjustable in the store.
Foam mattresses will conform to adjustables. But I didn't like the feel of my all latex mattress on adjustable. On box spring, it was springy. On solid top adjustable, it felt much deader. ...

btw, looks like a piece of Tempur foam the lady compares in the video. Tell you one thing, Tempurpedic Cloud is quicker responding than the Contour line beds.
Don't know what's up, Comforpedics only listed at Babies R Us and furniture stores in our area. Never saw one at Mancini's, SleepTrain, Sears, Macys or Penneys.
I've seen some other intersting coil / memory foam beds from Simmons though.

Can't speak for the mattress, but top layer is same as the topper I used.
To the OP, I think the Stearns and Foster / Sealy patterned 'box springs' are better than the Serta / Simmons I've seen. Reason is the S&F's have a consistent 4" spacing between vertical support rods. The Serta's box has an 8" gap in the middle support rods from head to toe (at least on the twin boxes). There are surface rods that run head to toe, but the vertical support is 8" apart. The result - sag in hips up to shoulder area. That's what happened on my iComfort twin box...

I've been trying to figure out how to configure my 'perfect' supportive-yet-soft bed. So today while looking at firm pocketed-coil innersprings to put a nice topper on, I checked out a Simmons Comforpedic they had.
I've been leaning toward going with latex foam because I don't like the slow response of memory foam - makes rolling over a chore. But once I'm in position on a memory foam top, I do really like the stability, comfort and support.
But this Comforpedic bed fealt like a combo of latex & memory foam. It was quicker acting like latex, but not quite as 'bouncy' or active. It was a bit more stable and supportive like memory foam, but not as firm (especially before you heat it up).
- So does anyone know what that 'really' is from a technical standpoint?

The thing that was making me nervous was another thread by someone who bought the higher-end SleepEZ mattress but said it was just too firm when on a soild or slat frame base. I have a solid platform base that the mattress will go directly on, and I'm concerned it will be too firm. What type of foundation do you have yours on??
If I don't get this bed, I will probably look into getting a decent, basic, firm pocketed-coil innerspring mattress (Simmons BR?) and put a good 3" Natural Talalay topper on it. About the same price, but can't get any feedback on pros/cons between the two.

Bought a new Simmons Beauty Rest for $2,000 two years ago but it was too soft and caused low back pain as bad as the hip pain. Traded for the same mattress but in a firm. Got a Costco topper and thought I would be all set. Not.
Then my husband got cancer and I was sleeping in a lot of cots and chairs in hospitals which didn't help, but still had the same issues when sleeping in my own bed but too worn out as caregiver to do anything about it.
My husband died last October and I'm just now beginning to function well enough to figure out that I...
