Serta makes a great Latex product.  Their products are all Talalay process beds which is the best in the industry.  They have beds that have a soy based core or a Talalay core.  The talalay core is the one you want and would last you for a long time.  Feel great about that and dont listen to all the S brand stuff. If you do then dont buy a car from anyone because that is saying Chevy and Ford, for example, make cars that arent worth a flip either.  Good luck.

shollis, you have a right to your opinion, as we do, ours. Your analogy of S brands to American cars is way off base. As far as I know, when you buy a car the company freely discloses what motor it has, and in fact all the major aspects of the car are disclosed, unlike the...
Just bought a new Flobeds - eagle2

I just purchased a new FloBeds. It is the 100% natural Talalay 4 layer mattresses. The top most layer being a soft egg crate 2" piece of Talalay.

I purchased the following configuration. On the left side of the bed I have a median top layer, firm middle layer, and extra firm bottom layer. On the right side the top layer is firm, the second layer is extra firm, and the bottom layer is extra firm.

I felt that this should give me an opportunity to switch the layers around and come up with the configuration that will work the best for my 6' 2"  210 pound frame. It has been quite a wrestling match, reading all the different descriptions that various people like, when it comes to firmness layers. You also run into this with some of the websites. No two people seem to consider this the same way....

<quote>I have been told by another supplier of foam that they quit using Talalay in their mattresses because they had so many returns due to the material breaking down over time. This is the only place that I have heard this. FlowBeds in fact went exclusively Talalay some time ago and they sell a lot of mattresses.

I have also been told, by yet another manufacture, that you always want to have a very firm layer on the bottom, whether it is a Talalay bed for a Dunlop bed.

I have also been told that 100% organic natural latex will “soften up” over time.</quote>

Thanks for the info Eagle2. It's interesting you just wrote this because yesterday Dewey told me that they've "never had an issue with the latex breaking down". This was making me start to think that I was nuts, LOL. ...

Kimberly, cloud9, thank you both for your responses.

I certainly understand where you're coming from regarding the foundations and warranties from the major manufacturers. They definitely can get quite sticky if you do not use their foundation. However I am purchasing from one of the small independents that manufacturers 100% all natural organic latex.None of their warrantees are anything like the major manufacturers warranties regarding foundations.

And it's from these sources, the small independents, that I'm getting varying recommendations. As I indicated, my foundation is currently supporting a waterbed. It is going to be very interesting when I finally pull the water out of it, and remove it, to see if there is any mold buildup, or other unwanted characteristics.

I have slept on this bed for 10 years. It has never been moved since the day I installed it. So this will be a pretty good test, I would think. But...

Cptab,

Your mistake is an exceptionally common one if it makes you feel any better. Here's why:

If you're replacing an old mattress because it hurts your back (especially because of it sags) your body will cry out for something firm, something hard to help your body heal. So, you'll go to the store where the beds have been broken in more than your new model and that firm will feel wonderful. You'll take it home and for your first several weeks to a month your back is in Heaven as it heals from the saggy old bed you had before. After awhile, however, your back is healed and the rest of your body begins to complain. As a side sleeper, you're extra sensitive to too hard of a mattress and you're feeling those coils pushing up into your hips and shoulders, cutting off the blood flow. Your body naturally turns away from...

Does anyone have (good / bad / indifferent) feedback about Oodles (Latex "noodles") --VERDICT is IN!!! - SKeeter
Sep 21, 2009 6:41 PM
Hi everyone - I posted a question about this in the previous topic about toppers, but I thought it might get buried there. So I thought I'd start a new one since I'm specificaly interested in whether anyone has experience with Oodles products.

For a variety of reasons, i need a new mattress topper. I was thinking of getting the 2" latex topper from Overstock.com to see how it worked. But while searching tonight, I ran across these "Oodles" products. (Actually they appear to use the infinity symbol (\infty) instead of 'O's in the product name).

I've tested and LOVED shredded latex pillows for the loft and "down alternative" feel.  Apparently Oodles makes pillows AND toppers using latex pellets they call 'springs,' and some kind of natural corn fiber???. (I worry about allergies with the corn fibers... I wonder if there is any info on that anywhere...) I was curious if anyone...

Thank you Lynn for your response. In fact "Thank You Everyone" for your responses.

I had another good nights sleep last night. However I suffered some discomfort but it was not from the bed. I took my flu shot Monday and consequently I have what really consists of a very mild case of flu. This manifests itself primarily as very mild hot flashes that come and go. This does cause some sleep discomfort. So I guess it's quite a tribute to the bed that I had as good a nights sleep as I did.

I am going to stop recording on a daily basis for a while as it becomes rather redundant to keep saying the same thing over and over. I have ordered two more cores of latex from FloBeds. A soft layer and another medium layer. This will give me an opportunity to test...
Re: Savvy Rest report - catlover

Someone posted incorrect info about Savvy Rest -
I am about to order from Savvy Rest and
You can do as many exchanges as you want for 90 days! (you do have to pay for shipping but that's only fair IMHO They do suggest you give yourself a few days to adjust before exchanging)

It is correct that Savvy allows no returns. One needs to spend some time on the configuration to try to avoid exchanging. Split layers for each side seems the logical way to go because you then have so many possible combos to try out if you order a few different firmnesses.  Savvy has a "choose the right firmness" page for guidance on what might be best for your particular needs.

One does have to pay for shipping on exchanges (twin is $90 via UPS - they send new layer apparently & a label, so you use...

7. Natural Bed Store: Looks like a good bed but their wool is a washable wool bonded with silica or something….don’t’ know if this is bad, but I guess to be on the safe side I prefer pure wool.  More importantly, Like Saavyrest, their warranty is a 1 ½” depression minimum, which raises my eyebrows a bit.

I didn't see that their wool is washable or bonded with silica, but haven't checked whole site yet. Washable wool sounds too good to be true and we all know how that ends....

again, don't worry about 1 1/2" impression if going with Dunlop. (we are doing Dunlop, Dunlop, with Talalay for top layer - now THAT might indeed be an issue for us to consider...thank you!

My biggest concern is that Dunlop might be too firm.....even with soft dunlop for top layer....but if we can find a company that sells...
