Yeah, TJ12, that doesn't surprise me, considering that of all the years of this forum running, there are very few resounding endorsements of their company. I checked the Reviews section and could really not find any endorsements in the past couple of years. Seems to me that there may have been a few posts here on the forum (as opposed to the Review section) about someone liking their bed or topper from them, but certainly they do not have great reviews.

Too bad Sleeplikeabear only sells blended latex, and really too bad that Flobeds doesn't sell 1"=2" layers.

That said, at least SleepEZ has been around for a long time, that says something.

So I'll risk "taking one for the team" and order from them (IF they ever answer their phone or call me back), and believe me, if they give me any problems, they'll get another bad review and...

We have a king flobed, all natural talalay, which we love, and I can detect the difference in the two sides of the bed with regard to firmness, but there is no ridge or valley in the middle....

inkholder said: "Can any FloBeds customers comment on this top surface?  Does it have a "pillowtop" feel?  Does FloBeds allow you to customize this layer as well as the support layers?  Will they let me swap it out if I am unhappy?  If I did, would my choice of a non-standard top surface be uncomfortable for a normal, back sleeping spouse?"

I've had my FlowBeds for just over 100 days now, so I have just concluded my "90 days sleep test" and the exchanging of layers.

No, the FlowBeds definitely does not have a soft pillow top feel. Although I never did exchange the top layer, I'm sure that they would allow you to exchange it if you did not like it. It is a convoluted piece of 2 inch soft Talalay. Due to the convoluted nature of the latex it would probably more accurately be described as a 1 inch layer....

Hi Linda,

First of all, you should PHONE Flobeds and talk with one of the owners about you and your husband's height, weight, preferred sleeping position and firmness level.  Then tell them your budget, and let THEM guide you to the appropriate decision for what configuration to start with.  I really believe they are better qualified to advise you than anyone here.

Second, there is a lot of information being flung about by all the latex mattress sellers and owners about natural vs. blended Talalay (and Dunlop, which is not something we're discussing if you've decided to go Flobeds).  They are both quality products and you can't go wrong with either one.  There has been some recent discussion about natural being denser, but I have the blended, three layers of extra firm, and believe me, it's EXTRA FIRM.  If blended is what fits in your budget, you won't be disappointed.  Again, Flobeds...

Flobeds vzone - 100% natural latex.  One great feature of the vzone is that you can make the shoulders softer than elsewhere.  Second advantage, you can customize both sides differently - firm on one side soft on the other, if that is what you want.   Third advantage, you can exchange the layers and vzone pieces for 90 days to get it just the way you like.  Fourth advantage, you can return the whole thing after 90 days if you are not happy.  Fifth advantage, great customer service.

If you want a bit cheaper I would consider sleepez.   You can have the sides different firmness, but no vzone.  One free exchange of layer, but that's it.  Customer service not as good.  They do have dunlop latex, if that is what you want - you will have to research that issue.  So, a bit cheaper and riskier - to a certain extent you...

Linda,

I agree with Jimbo...they will want to help you make a decision...that's what they do best.  You just might want to err on the side of slightly more supportive.  I also weigh 135 lbs...but have a 12" mattress and prefer a firm feel as well  (VZone now, but regular 3 layers previously)...I was shipped a temporary XF layer to play with and liked it.  So I had XF/F/M for mine (XF at the bottom(natural Talalay, not blended which some here seem to think is denser than the blended...it is thicker and heaver......  Originally I had it at the top when my husband set it up which made it less supportive)...I was concerned the M layer was just a little less than I liked for firmness in the pressure areas so I ordered a Firm VZone which I am experimenting with now.  My guess is that you would probably like the XF bottom...

Just want to chime in....to anyone who can afford it...I agree...the all natural Talalay FloBeds are pretty spectacular.

So...here is my update as well...originally started in the "Just bought a new Flobeds" thread....We received our VZone layers two days ago...still adjusting to the change in firmness (I went from a medium top layer to a "firm" VZone as a few spots needed more support for me (i.e. hips and lumbar) and so far, although I suspect I may still be tweaking and experimenting with a few variations to make sure I end up with the best combo for me....(need to give it a little trial time in each variation  but .. stole :)  my husband's firm feet section so that I could have firm/firm foot and hip support to try)....but WOW....it's great.  Seems like the separate sections really do just know where to...

It has the FloBeds 3" convoluted (egg crate) natural Talalay topper as one of the layers (3 cores plus the convoluted) and I was wondering about it being the culprit myself!  I'm wondering if I went much firmer on the cores, then maybe it wouldn't feel as springy because I do like a cushy feel...just don't want to be too springy.  It definitely got better when I put the XF core on the bottom (my husband, in a hurry, had put it on top as it was a temporary core until our VZone came in) which surprised me because I thought it would be less springy with the XF near the top. ...so now wondering if I need to go firmer on the other cores.   (I know the firmnesses but haven't written down the ILD's so I need to check that.)  It also has an organic wool and cotton cover over the cores...

Hi Budgy,

Thanks for the info...it's very informative.  I have been posting on the "Just bought a new Flobeds" thread and so I am finding your info helpful.  Thanks for reconfirming that I am not imagining that my all natural Talalay is bouncier.  I made some changes and it's doing better but I am wondering if this "bouncier" effect is part of the reason that the hip area is giving way more than the rest?  (Or is it just a sign that I enjoyed the holiday eating too much as my friend suggested this am?! LOL. ) Seriously, since I am 5'7" and about 135 lbs  (and female)...I wouldn't think that there is an extra weight issue so I am wondering what your thoughts are.

Also, I apologize if I am repeating something already said somewhere but it has been a lot of information to take in but I didn't realize there was an...

Calling Flobeds experts - pryncesslia

I've read through a TON of threads about Flobeds and Latex mattresses in general and am pretty much certain that we will end up purchasing a Flobed. But I have a few specific questions about firmess and foundations that I would love some input on. First, the stats:

Hubby - 6'-1" and 300+lbs
Me - 5'-7" and 230lbs
We both prefer a firmer feel, but not hard.
Hubby has a bad back, which is what has triggered our research and eventual purchase of a new bed.

We are obviously not small people, and I am concerned about how the mattress wear in the long term under our weight. My research indicates that we should be sure to order high ILDs and opt for more or thicker layers in order to have sufficient support. My question is whether the all natural talalay is dense enough for us. I would prefer to order an all natural set,...
