What exactly is your configuration now?
On top of my old Sealy "box springs" which is really just a wooden box with a little bit of spring to the top of it:
1) springs (Englander 12.5 gauge) (Bonnell? I think...)(impossible to get a straight answer from dealer OR from the manufacturer as to exactly what they are!
)2) 1/4" cheap memory foam to protect the foam above from the springs (this came with my original Sealy mattress) I doubt it has much if any effect on the overall feel.3) super firm 1/2" HR foam - I think it was a 40ILD or perhaps even 42-44. (I am guessing this may soon need replacing.)
4) natural 1" thick Talalay layer from SleepEZ 5) my old Talalay 3/4" thick layer that is...

Yes Jim, I agree that the firmness labels the different companies use are confusing! My "medium" topper came from Foam Sweet Foam. I believe their rating system is: Soft = 20-23 ILD, Medium=24-28, Firm= 29-34 and Extra Firm=35-42. My piece has a "medium" sticker on the side....so who knows? All of their latex is the 100% natural which some say is a bit more supportive than the blended. I notice that SleepEZ calls 32 ILD "medium" so it's confusing. My original mattress top layer is "32" and felt quite firm to me so that's why I went one step down for the topper. I figure that I kind of got what Flobeds uses for the soft top layer on all their mattresses.
And you're sure this is Talalay?
Those numbers reflect what one would expect from Dunlop process, not Talalay process.
It's funny - you'd think that since...

The ILD is 32 right? On another post I mentioned the samples I got from Sleeplikeabear 32 felt just like my 26. Yes this was talalay blend, not natural like yours, but I think that 26 to 32 just isn't enough change IMHO.
As for the Dunlop I have no clue why it is so firm for medium.
You sound exactly, I mean exactly like me with my memory foam piece I keep slapping back on the bed for a while, then I take it off for a while, then repeat, and repeat...... Looking for that 100% instead of that 88% comfort I guess, LOL.
Keep us posted.
The Medium latex is posted on the SleepEZ site as being 30-32 ILD but when I ordered it he seemed very careful to refer to it as "MEDIUM", not as "30-32 ILD". Not sure if that means anything. The piece actually has...

Okay, first my report on my first night's sleep:
The first night I used only the 1 and 3/4" Natural Dunlop in this configuration
1) springs (Englander 12.5 gauge)
2) 1/4" cheap memory foam to protect the foam above from the springs (this came with my original Sealy mattress)
3) super firm 1/2" HR foam
4) Dunlop
5) wool topper
Note that the above is how I had the mattress when it worked for me, 6 months or so ago, except of course for the Dunlop layer which replaced HR foam.
WAY too firm!
Also I felt that old latex feeling I had when I bought a Flobeds: "It's pushing back!"

I tossed and turned most of the night and by morning I was sore. I went over to finish my last hour or so of sleep on my wife's bed which was much better! This was worse than with the HR foam! Just too...

It wasn’t repulsive by any means but I really did think someone passed gas. As someone had mentioned before, it does have somewhat of a sweet smell but not in a good way! The smell does not bother me and my husband has not noticed it at all. After a couple of days I have noticed a typical latex smell when I first get into bed. Even if I just rub my hands on the fitted sheet I can smell the latex on my hands. I do have a good sense of smell however. Again, it is not overpowering nor offensive."
Becky, I am still laughing...

I've got all natural LI talalay from Flobeds. Queen size bed--one side is (top to bottom) soft (but the high range of their soft, i.e. 23-24 ILD), firm (32), firm (32) and the other side is medium (28), medium (28), extra firm (36). On top of both sides is a very thin layer of egg-crate foam (Flobeds says that while it's equivalent to a 14 ILD). This combination is good for me; I'm about 5'6" and 130 lbs, with lots of muscle and nerve pain problems. I need a soft top surface but with very good support underneath for my back. I prefer the soft, firm, firm side for side-sleeping and the med, med, X-firm side for back sleeping. Linda...

Pillows are such a personal choice... we all seem to like something different. I love goose down pillows and slept on them most of my life; nothing else ever compared. But I decided to try Flobeds natural talalay shredded latex when I got my mattress form them last summer. They sell them very, very overstuffed and then you adjust it how you like--just unzip and take out excess foam, and you can add back some later if your needs change. Turns out they're better for my neck when I sleep on my side than the down ones are (as down compresses too much), and I really like them. I got standard size and took out about a quarter of the shredded latex and it's working quite well. But down is much better if I sleep on my back as then I like to lie quite...

You may want to look at foamsweetfoam too. They use 100% natural Talalay. I don't think they split the mattress, but I am not totally sure about that. Their pricing is pretty good. Sleepez and Flobeds might be able to send you pieces not split as well. You should ask them....

Hi,
I got tired of springs popping up in my back in very expensive beds and just recently changed to Latex. I got an all natural Talalay latex bed by FloBeds. I highly recommend you take a look at their site. Their VZone lets you customize the support to how you need it for the different parts of the body. I put a firmer layer in my lumbar area to support my lower back pain. So, I feel for your pain and thought you should know that my husband has several herniated discs in his cervical spine with lots of other associated issues and has been going to physical therapy for the past two months to strengthen the area. Well, after about 10 days on his new bed...his physical therapist noticed a huge improvement in him without knowing he was sleeping on a new bed! He feels a lot better since and once he...
Bought a SleepEZ mattress - jc2040
Jan 31, 2010 9:41 AM
Hi all, I had been lurking around this forum in December, when I needed to purchase a mattress. I ended up buying a SleepEZ mattress (SelectSleep 10,000 Talalay-blend latex: Soft/Medium/Hard splits) and I figured I should register and post about my experience to add another data point for those considering a latex mattress.
I had tried out a SavvyRest mattress in a nearby store (100% natural latex hard/hard/medium), had really liked it and was seriously considering buying it; however, since I saw that everyone seemed to have equally decent experiences with Flobeds, SleepEZ and SavvyRest, I just ended up going with SleepEz, since they offered the most inexpensive option.
Ordering and shipping was a smooth process. I briefly talked with Shawn over the phone, who convinced me into doing the soft/medium/hard combination and even told me that I might consider only 2...
