Just curious, they will not reply to my emails. It was sent to me as a replacement by Land and Sky. Knowing who made it and their rating helps. I have been through *many* pieces of latex trying to get this right.

The original 3" top the bed came with was the softness i really wanted, but i was "going through" to the firm lower core, so after I returned my wonderful soft top without an RMA number, it sat in their factory for 6 weeks when I returned it. turns out I needed an RMA number, but was never told that.

Now they will not help me at all, i paid shipping both ways, but they will not take back what they sent me.

Bottom line is what they sent just said "medium" and was way too firm for me. latexgreen@aol.com replied to my first email immediately when I...

That's intersting because I was/am considering the cushion firm of of the Sealy Reserve line.  Probably my favorite thing I tried for $1500 or less was the firm S&F estate (no pillowtop).  I have read about problems form S&F with sagging, etc., so that scares me a bit.  Yes, I would hate to cut into it (at least for many years).

I also saw that foamsweetfoam has 3" strips of 100% natural talalay latex for $400 (queen).  No cover though (you can buy a cheap terry cloth at sleeplikeabear),  so if you don't want dunlop they are not a bad way to go.  Can't compete with the Costco price though.

From what I can tell the Celsion does not seem to be any cooler than the Talatech.  Maybe in summer it would make a difference, but I am skeptical at this point....

Re: Help with softer Latex topper than FBM "Soft" 20 ILD on top of firm Stearns Foster Luxury Firm? - sandman

From what I have seen, most of the Stearns and Foster have indidually wrapped coils.  I think they are different than the Sealys.  Are you sure the one you got is interlinked?

Anyway, it seems that the 2" of firm dunlop is probably a waste on top of the 4" or so of foam that the S&F probably already has.  I would think that just 2" of something softer would be the way to go.  Only can tell by trial and error.  You might want to order 1".  See if it is enough (with and without the dunlop), and order another inch if necessary.  The 2" dunlop might come in handy eventually, if/when the S&F foam eventually goes bad.  You may want to cut off the top and put in your own foam starting with the 2" dunlop.

p.s. the blended Talalay Talatech I have has holes about 1/4-3/8".  It might...

I believe sleepez.com has 100% natural talalay toppers.  Might only come in 3".  Not sure who makes them, so you should call them.  Latex international seems to have a good reputation for quality.  It might be made by them.

Sleeplikeabear.com has various inches and ILDS, but only in blended Talatech and Celsion.

If you call some of the places, they may be able to order what you want even if they don't normally stock it.  Try flobeds, sleepez, or sleeplikeabear.

A number of people have complained about the foambymail latex.   They also have questioned the accuracy of the product description.

Good luck.  Sorry to hear you have had so many problems.

from sleepez.com website:

2" of Celsion (1" folded in half) on top of 1" of mem-cool on top of 6" of latex heated up to 89.6 degrees last night.   Virtually identical to the 3" of memory foam.  Not as high as some of the all latex reading I have recorded, but the weather is colder as well.

At this point, I can't really reject the hypothesis that the talatech latex, the Celsion and the memory foam that I have are all the same heat wise.  Certainly the differences are quite small. The Celsion did record the lowest temperature by an insignificant amount.  My perception is that it is slightly better, maybe because it takes a little longer to heat up.  I can't really record a timeline, to be sure.  Folding it in half may also affect its ability to dissipate the heat out of one side.

It is also possible that measuring the temperature the way I am, does not...

Randy, it sounds like you are not going to get it the way you like it unless you customize it yourself or happen by miracle to stumble on the right thing.  The Costco one is a good deal, but what if it is not the right firmness?  You may want to call the company to see if the layers are glued together, so you can customize if necessary.

Since you spent a lot on the Tempurpedic, you should be able to get something customizeable for a lot less.  It seems that you like memory foam, since you have bought a number of those.  The question is what would be a good base?  Latex is pretty good because you have different ILDS and it hold up well over time.  A cheaper version of TP might be 5-6" of good latex as a base and 2-3" of MF on top.  I was pretty...

Remember I am doing the temperature readings under the zippered mattress cover, under 2 mattress pads and 1 sheet.  So, it might be different on top of the mattress (closer to your body).  I am going to double up the Celsion tonight, and report tomorrow the temperature.  It is possible I had a fluke in the data, since I have not used the Celsion that much yet.

I would say that the Celsion is cooler to the touch as well.  That is my perception at least.  It is probably worth it vs. regular Talatech, since the price difference isn't that much.  It does cost a lot more than memory foam, so I want to test a bit more to make sure it is worth it.

What kind of mattress do you have?...

If you have read some of my other posts, I have been taking some temperature readings of the top layer of the memory foam or latex under the mattress cover of my flobed.  I would have to say that there is not a signifcant difference with any thing I have tried.  Celsion might be the coolest by a hair.

Last night I had 3" of memory foam over 6" of XF latex.  The max temperature inside the top of the m.f. hit 89.8 degrees (I cut a small hole in the m.f. to put in the thermometer sensor.  I had 2" of memory foam from Costco that I purchases several years ago on top of 1" of mem-cool (4 lb.) from overstock.  This was no hotter than my convoluted Talatech latex topper which gets up to about 91 degrees.  Last night was colder than most, so not sure how much affect that...

1x SleepEZ 10000 or 3x 3" LI mattresses (from Sleeplikeabear) - vaarium
Dec 7, 2009 5:59 PM
Hi all,

I'm in need of buying a new bed. My original choice was the SleepEZ 10,000 (Queen), but then I figured that I could probably save a little money by getting 3 LI Talatech mattresses from Sleeplikeabear (since I already have a good Queen-size mattress pad). At the end, I'll save about $160 or so. Is there any flaw in my line of thinking?

Thanks.
