Catlover,
This is Dave at FloBeds.
I wanted to correct the record. Dewey was mistaken when he told you the dunlop latex on the video was Latex Green. It was latex produced under the trade name Arpico. We brought it in by container direct from The Richard Pieres Company in

We have a different wool topper on our Savvy Rest serenity, but the owner, Ki, at Bower Natural Bedding in Chicago, where we bought our bed sells the snuggle mate topper as well. She speaks highly of the topper and also of the great people at Shepherdsdream.
After spending what we did for the bed and foundation, we decided to economize on our topper....

Hi there,
I've read through your entire post a few times, and you sound exactly like me. I'm not a big guy, but I am a big girl :) and I too started out dazed and confused by this mattress business. The last time I bought a mattress for myself was 15 years ago, my husband and I walked in a showroom, lay on one we liked, bought it for $800, and it was amazingly comfortable and lasted 15 years. That was a Simmons that was made with quality materials (wool, not cheap PU foam).
Then I got a rude awakening a few years ago when I replaced my daughter's mattress with an $800 Simmons that cratered after less than a year.
When I started researching mattresses a few month ago, I soon found that none of the "S" brands make a quality product anymore. They are all made with cheap PU foam...

Hi there,
I would look into a Tempurpedic or a latex bed. You can go right onto the Tempurpedic website to read about them, but personally I wouldn't go for anything lower than a Rhapsody.
Or, you could look into a latex bed. Latex beds are made from rubber sap taken from a rubber tree (much like maple syrup from a maple tree).
Latex and memory foam (tempurpedic) products have what is called an open cell construction. This means that when pressure is put on the bed, the air whooshes out of those cells and into adjoining cells. What this means is that when you lie on the bed, the latex or memory foam will conform to your body, providing pressure relief, which I am sure your current bed does not.
As to latex vs. memory foam, both are great products that have a different feel.

I think Savvy Rest charges shipping both ways (as opposed to only 1-way like FloBeds does) AND, they don't vacuum pack the latex, so boxes are twice as large. Also dunlap is a bit heavier than talalay (the natural in each type; don't know anything about the blended). Hence the higher shipping charges.
I have slept on both all natural dunlap and talalay (however not a bed with both), and they do feel quite different (even if ILDs are the same). Unfortunately I did not have 2 beds side by side to try when I was researching, nor were my past dunlap mattresses comparable in depth or ocnfiguration to my current talalay one. And except for my last bed, which was very thin dunlap, the others, albeit much thicker, were literally decades ago (eg: I had a Sears dunlap mattress through childhood, and then another dunlap one, don't know what brand,...

Hi Mark!
I need to toss my 2 cents in here...
We recently purchased our latex bed from Savvy Rest who offer both 100% natural Dunlop and 100% natural Talalay processed latex.
We chose Dunlop processed latex because we knew we needed to go firmer than most people due to my hubby's back issues. And in speaking to one of the top latex distributors in the US who has access to both talalay and dunlop, we found that he sleeps on dunlop for his bad back. That confimed all the research I had previously done, so we put our order in. Not with him, but with Savvy Rest for other reasons you can read in the Savvy Rest thread.
We are delighted so far - it's been just about one month. We went with a split king and his side is Firm/Med/Med - and he's finding that firm enough at present. He's 5' 11"...

Hi Catlover and other readers,
I am not from the US but I came across this website and I am writing this message as I was very surprised that you did not consider natural latex foam from a company called Arpico.
I have some knowledge of natural latex foam mattresses as one of my close friends works with this material.
The production of natural latex foam is a relatively simple process a bit like making a cake. The latex is first mixed into a froth and then cooked in a steam chamber. Finally it is dried.
The performance and durability comes both from the quality of the raw material and from the quality of the production process.
Now, here is the complication and why the source of the latex block is so important. Collection of natural latex is extremely labor intensive and this material is very expensive. It can go bad whilst it is...

Hello catlover and all,
I'm German, was surfing the net (regarding 100% natural latex foam - it's part of my job) and came across this thread.
The last post, in which Arpico was praised beyond believe got me to sign up and pen a few word.
Mis- and disinformation seems to be ripe on the net and it becomes unbearable.
Let me first and foremost tell you that it is your retailers responsibility to ensure that you are satisfied and also to accept a return / exchange if you are not.
I would try to avoid a company that tells me, I cant return a 3.000 US$ piece of furniture if I'm not satisfied.
(If the company tells me: We have been dealing Latex Green or any other company "xyz" in the past, but they have been sooo bad....
Then I would ask my self:
1. What happened to all the customers and their money, who...

I have been researching mattresses for quite some time and have concluded that the latex mattress is probably the best out there for comfort and quality based on reviews. The Dunlop process seems to be a little more tried and tested but both are probably good. My wife and I bought a Nova Foam mattress from Costco last year and hated it...It was not comfortable and the worst thing was that it slept very hot. Supposedly the latex does not? At any event, I have ordered the new Sleep Science latex mattress from Costco and am waiting for delivery. I did not order the foundation but called the company to see what I would need to do in order to use my existing box springs. They said to put 3/4 plywood over the box springs and we should be fine. Apparently their box springs are metal and they provide some sort of...
