Re: Pocket Coil vs Innerspring Coil - budgy

Unfortunately neither the extra layer of latex foam nor the 'stiffer' springs will contribute to a more durable mattress in the long haul.  Because neither one of them prevents the low quality polyurethane foams from breaking down in the pillow top.  Springs are important, but even cheap springs rarely fail so are rarely a major factor in durability.  Out of the two I would probably recommend the Beautyrest as I believe a more conforming spring is best.

But I love how ordinary mattress salespeople are now becoming metallurgists.  Personally I would never want titanium added to steel springs, assuming the guage of wire is the same titanium is not even close to as strong as most steels. Nor is it as elastic, which means when it does deform is does not return to its original condition as well; the only upside of titanium is that is a lot...

I understand your point budgy, but this bed definitely was NOT from  "really high end exclusive mattress makers". It was a Kingsdown - hardly high end. I just hadn't heard it of because I hadn't shopped for a bed in 20 years. From what I read later, the only thing about it that's high is the profit margin which is why this brand is pushed around here.

Hi everyone,

I actually do not like the memory foams.  I prefer the latex.  I couldn't find many decently priced latex beds with the soy build.

I am allergic to dust mites and was reading that Latex mattresses are less prone to having mites than the traditional innercoil beds.  After searching for memory foam vs innercoil and hybrid beds, I think Latex is the best combination of comfort and features.

Here is where I am struggling.  I found a Ethan Allen Profile latex mattress (made by Kingsdown) with soy.  It is expensive at $2200 after discount for a king.  10 year warranty.

Yes, we are both under 150 lbs and the Sealy line I purchased is Posturpedic.  It is ultra plush.

I figure Ethan Allen's Kingsdown is expensive for the name.  $2200 for a latex/soy mattress is expensive.  It only has 10 year warranty.

But I'm not sure if the generic OC Mattress with 15 year warranty and latex/coils is better.  Stress O pedic makes this http://www.stressopedic.com/ but I've never heard of them.

They actually both feel decent.  The Ethan Allen is slightly firmer.

There is another no name brand latex mattress.  But for some reason, this is built on individually wrapped coils (not soy).  So this hybrid bed will have...

Kingsdown Moritz vs. Simmons beauty rest forest hill - K8te
Nov 2, 2012 9:47 PM
As many probably know, the brick is having 50% of matress sale tomorrow. Our matresses is well past retirement age and giving me a lot of pain.  I usually research a lot more on big purchases but want to jump on the sale.  Any thoughts on the kingsdown Moritz versus Simmons foresthill ...price for a king is pretty close as sleep country says they are matching "comparable" products, even though the Moritz is a lot cheaper at its ticket price. Please help with any advice on these products! I also really like the beautyrest imperial (sleep country) but it is well outside our budget! Thanks in advance (oh I'm in Canada)

Is FloBeds worth the extra money? - Bedelia550
May 31, 2013 12:29 PM
I've been researching talalay latex mattresses for about a week.  There isn't anyplace where I live that I can try one out, except for Jamestown Mattress, and they don't do the layering thing.

I've read good reviews of FloBeds and Sleep EZ, and i also have been looking at Foam Sweet Foam.  FloBeds charges about $600-$700 more (plus $99 shipping) for the same mattress that the other 2 carry.  It does have the V-zone which I don't need.  As far as returns, etc, they all have different policies, but is it worth that much money?

We both are excited about getting a latex mattress since we've been sleeping in the ruts of our aging Kingsdown pillowtop.  Husband did like the feel of Prana (don't think I'd trust that line) and the one at Jamestown, but we both prefer the layers.

Anyone want to chime in on the...

I'm starting to think most of these reviews are planted OR they are doing a GREAT job of removing the negative ones.  I am not happy with this bed.  To be fair, my husband thinks it's OK, and that we will probably not find anything better.  That's not saying much because the bed we had before was a VERY old sleep number bed that, in my opinion, slept horribly.  My husband's side was a little better, but I always felt that I was sleeping either on the floor, or a soft couch, no happy medium.  The SAATVA looks BEAUTIFUL!  Slide your hand across the top, and to the touch, it feels really nice.  Just don't sleep on it. The Pro: There's a lump in the middle, but believe it or not, it's not that uncomfortable. I also don't mind the lump because I hear a lot of beds tend to...
