I can only tell you that we've heard almost no good reports on air beds here.
I will tell you though, that I have an acquaintance who bought Select Comfort - the higher end one - and loves it and he bought one for his parents and they love it.
I just find them overpriced which is why I never tried one.
Don't be surprised if you don't get much response here on this question - I just don't think many here have experience with them.
Good luck!...

Jim, If you are happy with less foam and you never sleep on your side then I can see how less is better for you. For me I can't go less than 3", really have to have 4" or more, but then the back hurts, sides are happy though when side sleeping; but then it depends on density of foam, and also your spring mattress coils. Mine is an oldie but goodie and I don't know what type of springs this Spring Air flippable bed has, but it was one of the firm ones. Maybe Budgy or someone who knows more about the coils can tell us what the old Spring Air mattresses had. I never did understand the differences, and guess I never will, LOL. But that has to make differences for each person too. Then the factor of men vs. women shapes, weight, age and physical ailments makes...

I'm not sure what the answer is for your particular situation, but my low back pain was 100 percent CAUSED by my beds. One way to shop is to stay the night in different hotels with different beds to check to see how they affect your back. I had to be out of town on and off while my dad was ill and slept in different beds, different types, and none really made me feel better. Then I took a trip to Denver and slept at a wonderful hotel there...and the bed worked like magic on my back! I was 80 percent better the first night, and completely rehabbed after the next night! I WAS RIGHT IT WAS THE BED! No one had believed me before this, but I came home and refused to sleep on our bed one more night...ripped it apart with an exacto knife and changed the...

Will they let me swap it out if I am unhappy? If I did, would my choice of a non-standard top surface be uncomfortable for a normal, back sleeping spouse?"
I've had my FlowBeds for just over 100 days now, so I have just concluded my "90 days sleep test" and the exchanging of layers.
No, the FlowBeds definitely does not have a soft pillow top feel. Although I never did exchange the top layer, I'm sure that they would allow you to exchange it if you did not like it. It is a convoluted piece of 2 inch soft Talalay. Due to the convoluted nature of the latex it would probably more accurately be described as a 1 inch layer....

I see that FlowBeds is having a sale on their all natural mattresses at this time. The posture select has a $100 discount, and the posture deluxe has a $200 discount.
I purchased the posture deluxe 100% natural and have been very pleased with it. I am 6' 2" and 210 pounds. Being 20 pounds lighter you might get by with the posture select and...

Sandman: One other thought. FloBeds also sells air beds, if memory serves. I think you need to take your concerns to them and let them work with you as they are pretty broad in their selection of bedding. On top of this Dave...

I think it is hard to recommend any one of the S brands over the other. However, I would avoid Spring Air since they seem to have the worst reviews. Sealy came out slightly ahead. Orignal mattress factory, Denver mattress and Simmons were the top 3 rated innerspring brands in consumer reports. I think the first decision would be pocketed coils vs. interlaced (connected together). In theory, pocketed will conform more to your body, so they might be more comfortable. However, they may also be more likely to shift and lose support. Most pillowtops will lose support over time, so usually best to avoid those.
You probably need to go to a store (I found that Macy's had a pretty good selection in my area) and see what you like. I tended to like S&F, Simmons and Sealy (in that order), but I have not tried many other brands. I wouldn't...

yeah, you know Jim, you are right. I can't even guarantee people really any time on a normal mattress. Unless they bought one with say less than 2" of PU foam I know that wouldn't break down too much and I don't really see any customer issues with this unless its too firm and then we sell people toppers at our cost to correct the comfort issue. I have had customers wear out thicker pillowtop mattresses within a span of months thankfully to get warrantied and then put them into different product altogether. These people are usually not upset with us because we do warn them that the beds won't last forever, and as long as you can look after them they will usually be happy because they know you told the truth from the beginning, and unlike the guy across the street I didn't tell them it will last...
Flobed Natural Latex: 9" or 12"? - unovis

I've settled on a flobed natural latex mattress but am unsure if the 9" posture select or 12" posture deluxe would be better. I'm inclined to the 9" for both budget and aesthetic reasons (I'd rather not have such a high mattress), but would go with the 12" if it will be significantly more comfortable or offer better support. I'm 6' 2" and 190 pounds, my wife is 5' 4" and 125 pounds. Any thoughts or advice are much appreciated!...
