I did ask for an X-Firm core at the top of the range of firmness. I waited until Dave was able to get in a new shipment and send me such a core. I am a side sleeper and none of my cores are less than X-Firm from FloBeds. My bottom cores are the blended 44 ILD's with one core at a little bit higher ILD rating. My middle and top latex cores are the all natural Talalay Latex cores. I could not sleep on anything for the long-term that was softer than an ILD softer than 35 ILD rating (one of my cores is this since it was a prettier core I kept and exchanged a core I should have kept). I initially did not realize I was so sensitive to ILD ratings so I thought a few ILD's differences would not matter but my back could tell since...

Flobeds uses Natural Talalay and blended Talalay. You more than likely want firm. I am even leaning towards firm. I am 5' 10 1/2" 170 lbs. and I have been using latex toppers that are too soft.
Natural Talalay is firmer, use the search on this forum to read about this. I don't know, I am only telling you what I have read here. Everyone will tell you call and ask questions.
I am at the over 1 year of researching stage myself of trying latex toppers.
Good luck..
P.S. Latex International does make different grades of latex. They even make the all synthetic latex that is put in mattress makers I believe Sealey. I have read bad reviews about those. Not sure if they put PU in those. But don't go near them.
LI makes blended and natural latex. They bought another company recently so who knows what else they make.

Mike: when I first started looking at latex I was convinced in my own mind that I would probably prefer Dunlop to Talalay. I even went out of state to try a Dunlop bed as there was no dealerships where I live. As you might imagine just laying down on a mattress even for an hour or so, cannot fully represent what you experience when you spend the night sleeping on it.
Due to ramifications I'm not going to go into here I eventually bought an all Natural Talalay bed from FloBeds. You can read my entire experience in the thread I started entitled "Just bought a new FloBeds" it is quite extensive and if you want to read all of it you will have to go to the bottom of the thread and hit the "ALL" button.

I'll step in here as a Flobeds owner. First of all, I can't even imagine paying more than the Flobeds price for an all-latex mattress, because
1) Flobeds uses LI latex, which is generally acknowledged to be the best quality Talalay latex out there, so what is so special that costs more than twice as much in the other mattress, and
2) Your mattress has a zippered cotton and wool cover, which allows the engineer in you to swap out layers if the initial setup isn't *just* right (by the way, swapping layers in unbelievably easy, and the shipping is not expensive at all - I swapped a layer and it was $20 shipping).
3) The return and exchange policy is unbeatable
For the record, I am a similar height and weight to you, and Flobeds also recommended a F/XF/XF for me (and for the sake of convenience, my husband just got...

Well, I did it! My new bed should be here no later than Monday. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Dewey was very nice and helpful and thanks to you all I had a list of questions, but he really answered most of them before I could ask. Which was great because I don't do phone very well, and I did do the "ah... ah... ah.."
. I went with all his recommendations except for the vZone, which we decided I could upgrade to later if needed. So my new bed is:

Hi folks,
My wife and I are looking to spend up to $2500 on a king or queen (pref. king) latex mattress and foundation. We have looked at all the usual culprits and while we were initially looking at a Tempurpedic we got frightened out of it with all the bad feedback we've read online. We began looking at Latex because of this forum (thanks!)
That said, we liked the Original Mattress Factory and their Latex Mattress (http://originalmattressfactory.com/products_and_prices/mattresses_and_box_springs/foam_and_latex_mattresses.aspx) and we were quite pleased with it. The challenge being that it has some PU foam at the top and bottom as it is dual sided and flippable.
I then looked at Flobeds, but it seemed they were about $2800 for an all natural king with foundation.
The last place I found was plushbeds.com which claims to have an 8" all natural Talalay process mattress (http://www.plushbeds.com/All-Natural-Latex-MattressII-p-90.html?features). I am curious what the ILD is on...

We bought twin & full size mattresses for our kids a year ago from Savvy Rest bcse we didn't want them to breathe in all the chemicals that are in standard mattresses. Plus, most standard mattresses last only about 5-7 years. They end up in landfills, etc.
Besides being eco friendly you one can replace just the biodegradable layers (1, 2, or 3 of them) and keep the organic cotton/organic wool cover, which repels bed bugs (plus bed bugs don't like to live in natural latex), and wool is naturally flame retardant. On the occasional nights that we ended up sleeping with the kids, the mattresses felt nice on our backs but we were also happy with the Sleep Number we had for several years. However, the Sleep Number started failing us too....it felt like we were laying on a hill. Luckily, we were able to sell it on craigslist...

This is my first post. I’ve read most of this forum posts (including legacy) re latex mattresses.
So……..Help!!!
I’ve fallen prey to an engineers’ nightmare “Analysis Paralysis”. It’s time to purchase a new eastern king mattress.
Currently we’re sleeping on an 8 yr old Serta Perfect Night (non-pillow top, no-flip) approximately 15” thick which has developed body ruts about 1.5”-2” deep on both sided with the complimentary continental divide (we call it Puff-A-Lump) in the middle. I’m 5’11”, 265lbs, 58yrs old and the lovely wife is 5’4”, 180lbs, also 58yrs old. (I know….for Christmas we joined the YMCA and are using it regularly so these weights WILL be reduced). We’re...
