Re: Questions re platform for latex, springs under latex, etc. - please give your opinions - jimsocal

Hey sandman, my wife and others may well think I'm just not playing with a full deck! My fiesta platter may be short a couple of tacos! blush

I appreciate your thoughts about my stack, though. The latex seems to be good quality. The blue "Venus" memfoam is junk. I hated it from the day I got it from Ostock (well almost that day, anyway), and I only use it sometimes because it's the best 1" thick piece I have, and the 2" thick Sensus I have is just too thick for me. I sink down into it and it hurts my lower back.

Now:

I did try my mattress without the box springs last night, just flat on the floor. I must say that all along I was very doubtful that the box springs was the problem. And when...

Roy,

If you are interested in exploring a Dunlop mattress you might want to take a look at this one sold by Sam's Club.  There are several American Sleep models, both in Dunlop and Talalay latex and memory foam as well.  The one I linked is Dunlop, but they also have a Talalay latex model.  The link I provided is for a twin size, but of course, they sell every size mattress set.

I looked into these extensively when I was shopping for a mattress for my daughter.  The Dunlop latex is made in the US by Latexco, which I liked better than the Chinese latex used in the Costco mattress.

Moveover, I thought the matching foundation looked like it was also very high quality, unlike the tacky and cheap Costco foundation.

I almost purchased this mattress set for my...

Q - Comparing the Costco Sleep Science and the SleepEZ bed we have, I much prefer the SleepEZ. Some of that preference is just due to "superficial" things like the mattress cover; our SleepEZ organic cover is really nice and much better than the Costco cover. Also, I like being able to customize the layers of my Sleep EZ bed and knowing that when we go to move it we can break it down into it's component parts rather than having to move a huge heavy mattress as one piece. As far as the latex itself goes, my husband and I found the Costco beds much too soft for us. As such, we ordered our SleepEZ bed to be much firmer and are happy with it. I would say that I find the Dunlop latex of the Costco bed to be more solid in feel (even though it is softer)...
Anyone add the Flobeds convoluted topper to their non-Flobeds latex? - Q119
May 18, 2010 9:09 AM
I have the Costco Sleep Science latex bed and it's too firm. The Cuddlebed softened it a bit, but not enough. A 3" memory foam is too much. I have emailed Flobeds and they said I can buy just the convoluted topper, and if I decide in the end to order a Flobed, they will take the price off of the bed purchase.

So, my question is, has anyone purchased the convoluted topper from Flobeds to soften up their existing latex? Did it help? I know I can purchase 2" from other places, but I have decided that if this doesn't work I will end up with a Flobeds, so I'd rather get their topper.

Thoughts?

roy, here's the HUGE THREAD about the Costco Sleep Science latex bed. Click ALL to see all 173 posts. There are other threads, too. Do you know how to do a forum search? You'll find tons of info  about the Costco beds.

I understand how you feel about not being able to just go in & try out these the all latex layered systems that SleepEZ and FloBeds sell, it's frustrating because you can't see what you're getting beforehand. But thin about it this way: If they did have retail stores all over the country, their prices would likely be much higher. Besides, you wouldn't know for sure about the feel from spending 20 minutes or even a night or three on it.

It's only been a fews weeks since I've had my SleepEZ bed, and I do not regret it at all. I only...

There are some HUGE threads around here concerning the Costco Sleep Science latex mattresses, and probably the memory foam ones, too. Some people like 'em, some people don't. In the end, it's going to be a matter of your personal preference.

It's not so much that Costco sells good stuff, it's that they have an awesome return policy.

Done Search (on forum) found problems with Sleep Science Mattress set! - roy1

Okay CJones, I did search the forum and found a bunch of posts about Sleep Science latex mattress.

Some posts mention huge problems with Sleep sceince foundation that they are selling on Costco.

I am already turned off by these supposed problems the posters are telling about the foundation!

One problem is that Sleep science metal foundation is "sagging", "unstable". that it is metal tubing with only plastic covering the top.

That metal tubes are widely spaced and that the foundation starts to make a creaking noise.

I went to Costco site again and found out that the foundation is indeed made up of metal and that Sleep science is selling presumably the same metal foundation for "all" of its mattresses on Costco!

Off with Sleep science metal foundation. And off with Sleep Science mattresses.

I...

This latex mattress is made by a company called sleepscience. Anyone heard about this company? A good reputable company or what? Thanks.

After-thought any problems with the latex mattress they are selling? I hope surely to know this as I don't want the hassles of returning.  Hope they have a good product otherwise why would Costco sell it?

After reading replies, I am hesistating to spend thousands of dollars on a tempurpedic that will soften up and lose support and comfort.

I just wish I could try out Flobeds  and SleepEZ before buying them but they have not got any retail locations. Bummer....

Sooo, I'm not loving this bed. It's too firm for me. DH loves it. I've tried the cuddlebed topper from Costco, and the 3 inch memory foam from Costco. The cuddlebed isn't enough, and the MF is too much. On the flip side, the foundation has stopped squeaking, so at least that is better. I had made the decision that if I didn't LOVE this bed, I would send it back and get a SleepEZ or Flobed. I'm thinking that is going to be in the works in the next month or so. I'm pretty disappointed.

I'm sorry your bed is not working out for you. Don't think SleepEz is the answer either. I am having issues with mine right now. Our backs don't ache anymore because we decided to go firmer since it is talalay, but there is...
